Also, they've revealed and announced these 2 in one weekend. Yet Optimus (Studio Series from Bumblebee Movie and Cybertron inspired Siege leader) remains unannounced and we've yet to get a proper look at the new Omega???

Be thankful Hasbro works directly with Takara Tomy on these to keep the price down and he isn't $300+ like Hasbro's Beast Wars Megatron.
Frankly I'm really happy with the price at the size and complexity. I'm really looking forward to him now! Might still import depending on the cost, though.

I don’t mind Movie Megatron’s look. It’s certainly not my favorite iteration of Megs, but it’s not my least favorite either. I totally get why you and a lot of others don’t care for it though. For me, It’s a solid design, and I think it has its place. If nothing else he has a very striking silhouette, with his tapering short arms, and long chunky legs.
I 100% agree on Ratchet (my favorite autobot), Brawl and Bonecrusher though! I’m so excited to see what Takara does with those MPM figures!
Going off of MPM Bee, Barricade, and now Jazz I think it’s safe to say that they are knocking it out of the park on the car robots in particular. This upcoming Jazz looks so solid, and I’m completely in on this figure.
For a while I thought that HA Jazz and Barricade were the definitive versions of those figures for me, despite their flaws. Then came MPM Barricade who took everything great about the HA toy, and fixed, as far as I can tell, all the flaws. Looks s Jazz figure might do the exact same, which makes me very excited to see what they do with Soundwave, if they ever get around to doing DotM MPMs.
In terms of price, I wish Jazz was a little less, but overall I’m okay with it. I’m pleasantly surprised that Megs isn’t a small fortune. I’m fine with these prices. Especially since Megatron comes with such awesome looking accessories!

I’m torn, part of me wants to get Megs because I love the Masterpiece toys, and they did a really good job on him, but I just really don’t like that design. I don’t hate it as much as some, but it’s just so boring to me. But again, credit where it’s due, they knocked it out of the park.

If I could change one thing,it would be Megatron's eyes.Without lightup eyes, from some angles,it look likes he is squinting his eyes.
I would make something more similar to the 2007 toy,or other ones to make the eyes more noticiable:

![Image](https://static.seibertron.com/images/toys/files/40/r_megatronleader132.jpg)
Maybe for a studio series version.
I hope this does to Megatron's 2007 design what the studio series did to Starscream's 2007 design, where more people start to appreciate the design.
One thing you learn after hanging out with Transformers fandom for a good amount of time, its that we accept all kinds of robot styles if get a nice toy from it.

True that.
I used to HATE Doritos Starscream.
Then I bought the HFTD Leader Starscream on sale just to try it out. That toy was so amazing that it changed my mind completely about Movie Screamers.

$90 and no mentions of any diecast? I'll admit I like have my MPs/MPMs with a bit of diecast, as it helps me justify their price, but I'm starting to think that I may just wait to decide if I'm gonna save, or hunt for a greatly reduced price, for Jazz until I see a review.

What happens after May 17? Do the stores suddenly stop taking pre-orders, or does Hasbro just guarantee fulfillment until that point and anything after that comes from the stores' own stock? It's a very strange way of doing things when it isn't their own store or an exclusive product.
Also am I the only one that's never heard of Southern Hobby?

The more I look at these shots, the more excited I get. I keep feeling like Megatron’s noggin is a smidge too large. I know that in the concept artwork he’s got a big head, but I had to look up some movie stills. Apparently his head was pretty big in the 2007 movie. On top of losing parts along the way, I think his head actually gets scaled back slightly with each movie. A smaller head does make him look much larger and formidable, which I prefer.
After SS figures like Brawl and especially Blackout, I’m very curious to see what their respective MPM figures might look like. Assuming they get around to doing them.

First off, Megatron looks amazing. the 2007 voyager was my first ever Transformer, so to finally get an update of it, in MPM form, is a dream come true. He looks great!! I love that he comes with a mace and fusion cannon!! My dream has come true!!
My Transformers experience is about to come full circle at last.

Jazz looks amazing too! the SS is a really fun figure, so I can't wait to get the MPM. And we are now only 1 Bot away from the movie 1 Autobot cast! The rip in half feature, come on man! Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. But really, he looks great.
As for the comment regarding looking like the SS version of jazz and why would someone collect both MPM and SS: Isn't that basically the same thing with the regular MPs and the Generations lines? MPs and Generations styled lines are really different, it's not a fair comparison.
But yes, BOTH FIGURES ARE AWESOME

Unfortunately the transformation looks like it would be pure and utter torture. Then again I felt that way with MP-36 Megatron the first couple times I transformed him and now I actually like it mostly, save for the legs. Those are still not my favorite part. Thankfully the price point for the MPM-08 is in a range where I can snatch it up. I am looking forward to this. I wonder if Hasbro/Takara will do a Studio Series for the '07 Megatron.
I really don't mind at this point if they do a SS Movie 1 Megs. The MPM is what I've always wanted and needed. He's a need

Oh yeah, totally. I would most likely buy both if it does happen. Personally I'm excited for this MPM release because when you look at the '07 Leader and Voyager it definitely leaves a lot to be desired as the sculpting techniques have gotten more advanced and could definitely use an upgrade from those techniques.

- There is no mention of exclusivity, which means that this could also be available on Amazon or any other retailer willing to carry this.
- The toy is said to be bilingual so Quebec fans will be able to get it more easily than the other MPMs since Barricade.
- There is an interesting mention in the description clarifying that this is not a 3rd party product. It is the first time I have ever seen such product acknowledged in an official listing.

No matter what one buy, it always depend on one's interest.
Beside, it's a pretty lazy argument to dismiss something we don't like when we run down the thing to it's base elements:
--Why buy a toy? It's just plastics.
--Why buy fancy clothes? It's just fabrics.
--Why buy good tasting food? It's just sugar, vitamins, minerals, and glucids.
--Why getting exited on sexy girls? It's just flesh.
--Why live at all? We are just ephemerial cosmic dust.
I really hate it when people do that.

It's good to see movieverse Megatron's original body getting a toy that's not hampered by clumsy gimmicking and the designers having to learn the aesthetic's ropes, and a Masterpiece at that. It's a pity he doesn't include the spear from the flashback sequence, particularly at that price. Who knows, maybe that'll end up being his Retailer Exclusive Accessory.

Megs is really complex and really big. And that $160 is a lot less ouch when one considers the Inferno mold went for $140 and also where the new MPs his size are standing price wise

I kinda want it actually. I'll wait for video reviews to see if I really want it.

Love the pic of him standing on one hand on the box. I know it says requires additional support but maybe that's just there to cover their based and maybe he can actually balance like that (just not worth keeping him that way in case he does fall over at some point).
My Studio Jazz balances really well on one foot even without using those black support bits on the back of his feet (I never use those).

He's 2 inches tall. You'll never see those details in real life with the naked eye. This is just the camera's Macro lense doing its thing.
At most you would have gotten two shapeless blobs of black paint for eyes. There's no point to that.

Seems like it's a common thing for Spike/Sam in the Masterpiece line. It's those Witwicky genes.

They both look great though. I won't even consider picking up Megatron until he gets the significant price drop all large MPM's have gotten so far. Even though Jazz will most likely drop in price as well, I'll probably pre-order him first chance.

For what it's worth... some of the Amazon.co.jp pre-orders or other Japanese e-tailers going for 30% off.... might be some of the best ways to pick up these MPs.
