Behold… the Predacon Emperor of Destruction, Legacy United Commander class Magmatron is ready to shred through your puny collection. Bare witness to the rath that 3 of the largest species of dino’s, the Giganotosaurus, the Quetzalcoatlus, and the Elasmosaurus can do to your Maximal and Autobot armies!
.
Still can’t really believe I was able to bring this incredible bad guy to life with the amazing Shu san over at Takara Tomy. His dedication and keen design sense just put this guy over the top!
There’s so much to talk about, where do I even begin, the sculpted details, the colors, the insane articulation, the size, the transformation sequence, the blast effects, the magmablade, the magmasaurus mode. When I first saw this OG toy so many years ago, I was blown away, there was so many things I love about Transformers packed into this guy. Then once I actually watched the Beast Wars Neo dubbed series and saw the action sequence of the combining dino’s I damn near pooped my pants!
Some deets Dnavi said to mention, the shouldered blurple landsaurus head can move forward in robot mode, the lower jaws of all the dino’s have painted mouths, the blast effects fit into the port of the magmablade but you can also position it as a blaster, due to transformation the waist actually hinges and can act as almost an ab crunch articulation, the seasaurus can plug into a 5mm port to stay stationary or can unplug and become mobile, the skysaurus does have his 2 removable terrorswords, wooooooooo (allow me to Ric Flair strut around the room)
This year is going to have some real doozies I think all of yall will love! The long nights, the relentless work, the extra, the weathering of the storm, its all worth it for everyone to get the TF toys we all want and deserve! more soon!

Because I spy a clip on that tail that is not used.

That might be for the Magmasaurus configuration instead.-Kanrabat- wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Looking closely at his tail, it kinda looks like the tail just hangs down sagging behind his waist where the original figure's tail rotated upside-down and plugged into his backside to keep it in place and prevent any and all sag.

And these pics come from the guy who designed it, so I would hope he'd know how to transform it properly.
'Course, I would also hope that he knew how the original transformed and hope that he wasn't working off a BW Magmatron with its tail not fully transformed.

As for that tail, after comparing the vintage and the modern, I don't see what's "sagging" about it. The vintage can just point down like a 3rd leg while the Legacy one flows naturally like a real tail.

The underside of the tail is sagging below the crotch space. In these two pics:-Kanrabat- wrote:As for that tail, after comparing the vintage and the modern, I don't see what's "sagging" about it. The vintage can just point down like a 3rd leg while the Legacy one flows naturally like a real tail.
On the original toy, that would only happen if the tail wasn't turned upside-down and plugged in properly. When done so, that made sagging impossible and kept the tail's connection to the body above the crotch behind the waist. Here, it looks as though they were working off the original toy with the tail not fully transformed correctly.

I also enjoy how posable he is, looks like it'll make sword fighting poses interesting.

Of course, maybe it really was designed based off of a mistransformation. Would not be new at all in Transformers history!

Ah, you mean that the tail is not in its proper position.
I call a mistransformation even if it's the designer himself who posted the pictures. It may not have been him who made the poses nor took the pictures. And even if he did, sometimes we all forget some transformation steps. Especially if these steps are just for esthetics purposes.

First up, the Animated crew is making me so happy. Prime really is the standout star, god I love this toy. Also, they did nail Bee's head, that is Animated Bee, personality and all.
Next up, Core Energon Megatron with Legends of Cybertron Megatron. Now, we need a core Armada Prime.
Legacy has given us 2 of the main 5 BWII cast! and since I had Bighorn, I could unite 3 of the 5! Now we need a core Diver, deluxe Scuba, and probably deluxe Bighorn update too.
Can y'all see the family resemblence?
Windblade and Bee united at last. They look great together, well done. 1/2 in Cyberverse so far, we'll see how Chromia retooled from Prowl works out.
The aligned shelves with the newest bots. It looks great.
Finally, I got Tigerhawk in today, and I am in love. He isn't perfect, the lack of wrists and the large joint differential in the wings and A-stance are a bit of a bother, but he is still very good. I love him! He is one of my favorite characters, and I am so happy he has a new toy.

This is just a magnificent figure. Well done on all fronts.
I also saw the tail positioning, but wonder if it was intended as a balancing device to help with posing in these pics.

It's not impossible though I don't think any photos have shown it positioned that way, personal or official.
What there seems to be no consensus on is what to do with the shield flippers.
Fully extended and folded back.
Fully extended and folded forward laying flat.
Partially extended folded forward parallel.
Mark seems to be going with forward and flat like the back of the box. Same with the box for the vintage figure and the anime so I guess flat is the way to go.
Now just waiting for a picture of the sword with the blast effect attached like on the box art. I don't think there's a way to form the included parts into a sort of crystal around the hilt, makes me think they were hoping to make a few part.

Whats that you say ,”You hope theres enough energy in these conductors to last a quartex” well well well, lemme tell you something Jacky, you have officially energized my bionic soul for an entire astrocycle! Finally, our 40 year wait is over folks, Origins Wheeljack is ready to hover into your collection!!!
.
Huge shout out to my bot brother Yuya san, he has turned my concepts and dreams into an engineering masterpiece. He has been just raising the bar on every character we work on, its insane, legendary designer!
.
I’m jumping right in because there is literally so much to tell yall about! Blurr style: hover vans vehicle blastshield can be a used as an air glider in robot mode but also partsforms into the cybertronian racetrack featured in the first g1 episode, the transformation sequence resembles the exact transformation in the cartoon, the bottom of the vehicle mode sits on tabs to give it that sweet cybertronian hover look, origins bee can not only fit into the back of the van but his golden rods can plug in on the sides for a cool thruster look, he scales correctly in robot mode with Jazz and BB, articulation and deco are on point, the buzzsaws on the front bumper have been designed to also be used as dominator discs
.
Wheeljack, yesssss, his OG look, no pablo’s or que’s here bruh, just good ol genius Jacky looking like he has been doing metric ton squats with Bulkhead. After all, its one thing to have the gift of gadgets but its another to be able to back up Optimus in the war.
.
Legacy United hittin hard in the 40th anniversary celebration of this brand that keeps me smiling all the way to Iacon!

Granted, the year is still young, but this Animated Bee is the BEST Bee I got since a very, very long time.
He's very close to his Animated original appearance. Yeah, cry me a river over his lack of clown feet. When everything else is perfect, that can be easily overlooked.
Sure, he's tiny for a deluxe, but he's fairly complex and there's NO hollow bits. The transformation is fun and clever, plus the vehicle mode is PERFECT. The only mismatch of yellow is a tiny rectangle where his is printed. That's quite the achievement!
I seriously recommend that Bee. The upcoming Optimus look pretty rad too, appart maybe the rectangle bits that serves as his trailer hitch in truck mode. Plus the A, Prowl was excellent.
I'm looking forward what they will do with the other Animated characters if they ever do them. I'm looking forward a redo of Bulkhead, and especially what they will do with Starscream.
A Core Sari Sumdac would be awesome too. Make her a "pretender" with her human child form serving as the "inner bot" of her armored "adult" form.

I'm guessing you'll be getting the ToyHax Animated sticker pack? I'm tempted, but I really wish they weren't combined like that, I don't need most of the Prime stickers.

There's high chances I'll be getting the set. The unpainted molded details on A. Prime bother me a lot.
And if you love customising toys or create customs from parts, having spare stickers is never an issue.

I hope they either change that, or do a 2-pack of him and Brawn with clear windows. If not, hopefully it won't be too bad to kitbash... At least we're finally getting him, and he's better than the T30 version.
Gods am I looking forward to Origins Wheeljack. The Origins figures have been a very very delicious treat. And I still hope they use the Origins thing as a vector for really releasing SIEGE Starscream.

As someone who absolutely hates clear moving parts I am so happy to see opaque windows on this figure. Frankly I don't like clear windows to begin with, I don't need to see a bunch of robot parts on the inside. If they aren't going to sculpt an interior then clear windows are pointless.

Yeah, as soon as I saw this I was trying to figure out if his big noggin was an essential part for the truck mode and it doesn't appear to be so Swerve should be a shoo-in. I know Swerve usually has the big built up parts on each side of his head, I just hope this mold doesn't require them be actually part of his head. Only issue I really see is Swerve's character design includes the wheels where Gears' removes them. Not sure how they'd work around that if at all.

How come? For once, Hasbro won't force clear plastics. No weak points, no colors mismatch. Regardless, if that baby-blue is too plain for the windows, there will be the inevitable Reprolabels set that will make them more fancy looking.
On my end, this Gears is a sure buy.

I am a fan of the original TF animated series. However…that being said, I am not (like many fans) looking to complete a modern equivalence of the 1984-1986 toy line/animated series. What you see in my signature, that’s it. THOSE are the holes in my collection. Nevertheless, if something comes along that seems interesting enough, I'll get it. The Armorizer TF’s for this year seem to fit that description.
I also appreciate that the entirety of Legacy (from 2022-2024) is celebrating the NOW 40 year history of the franchise. There seems to be something for everyone, and more is coming, and I personally think that is great.
Now…all that having been said… I think it’s truly fascinating how a single toy like Gears can generate more excitement than seemingly the entirety of Legacy United Wave 1 which (for better or worse) had no OG series characters in it. I mean Gears (along with Huffer) were the characters Nobody liked as a kid in the 80’s. Sure some had the toys, but I can guarantee you NO-BO-DY liked Gears. My memory may be getting spotty in some areas, but that sentiment I know to be true. But, because this is the first solid interpretation of this character since the original (not discounting the 2014 toy, it was just stylized for the then current fiction), it is filling a much-needed hole in many fans collections (ironically not my own however, because as stated earlier, my collection is a very specific type). I predict that as soon as this becomes available for pre-order. It will sell out very quickly on all online retailers, within a few hours (except perhaps Amazon).
So please, don’t take this as me berating, or looking down on all “non G1” toys or characters. I enjoy many of them and have them in my collection. It’s just an observation I happen to find really fascinating.

So, I think I can actually explain this.
1) we are on a forum, same as TFW, same as other TF sites. Forums have become a more outdated source of online community, even if they are still used and are useful. And as a result, a majority of forum users tend to be people who have been online long enough to have been part of them when they were still the main thing. In simpler terms: a majority tend to hedge more towards middle age. Younger onliners tend to hedge towards reddit, twitter, etc.
2) as a result of point 1, excitement tends towards a middle-aged demographic, which for us more hedges towards G1 and maybe Beast Wars. My age demographic for instance should hedge towards Unicron trilogy, but actually hedges towards movi/Animated/Prime, my main timeline.
3) Gears was on the Kingdom art, he was for the line, and was cancelled. This is one of those cases where a cancelled figure actually ends up coming out years later, a rarity, hence additional interest from multiple demographics. In a similar vein, if say Animated Marauder Megatron was somehow actually released today, it would be a huge deal for all sorts of people, even if they aren't a big Animated fan.
4) Gears is a case of being one of the few needed to complete a cast in the same design era/style. For many of the Legacy lines outside of Beast Wars, they are starting anew with a new design team, so it's naturally a little harder/more limiting when you have smaller numbers. Many are starting new; Gears is nearing the end of another group.
5) There was no "G1 universe" figure in united wave 1, so it's also a case of some excitement for having one in the next wave.
Just my observation as well. Being part of 3 different TF communities (seibertron, Twitter, in-person friend groups), you notice some of this as well, including the diverse range of excitement. I have one buddy for instance who loves Gears because he collects almost exclusively in the 84-86 range, plus a love of RiD2001. I have another who is indifferent, because he is a Soundwave lover of all shapes and sizes, and cares little outside of that and the Prime show. Another buddy yet is a lover of Diaclone and things that scale with 3-3/4" figures, so he is also a case of "cool", but indifferent. Just as a for-instance.
