However, I do wonder will Prime have dirty knees like the photos of the figure on the left, or clean knees like the photo on the box?

Hard to tell what the actual differences are since the photos are so blurry. Is OP just missing the grime and dirt from the original release (which is ironic, because it technically means he has LESS paint than the original, but they will apparently be charging more for him)?

Siege Megs is number 00. he has the same deco as the netflix releases except the blades of his swordgun are silver now. He comes with the effect part from the cyberverse toy except its purple now.

But what's so premium about that Prime? All I see is a marginally different Siege Prime that doesn't match the one on the box. This had better not be that $50 Target-exclusive.

Bumble Bee will probably meet the same fate (though I like the mold), but better pictures of the paint job and finding it during a descent sale may sway me depending on price.

Tuned Agent wrote:Bee looks nice, but it looks like the main thing they did was change the mold layout and plastic colors. There are a few "extra" paint apps, but the plastic colors seem to be the main difference. Also, the picture on the box is totally just SS-01.

Actually I do hope this is the Target exclusive. Money saved for other things.

Well, if there's ever a time to start saying no and changing collecting habits it's with this line.

FYI, if you are talking about the price increases people posted about a few weeks ago, we are already living them. Those increases have been in effect for a few months now.

With that Optimus we FINALLY get the deco as he appears in the WFC Netflix Trilogy show, with the greenish broken windows. This could be why they didn't give us this in the Netflix line.

Takara's MB Line was quite popular at the time. I bought MB-11 RotF Prime and he's awesome.
Not sure the Premium Series Movie line back in 2008 was as popular though. Mostly exclusive to different stores (Target, BB, Walmart) but it had the benefit of not having an msrp markup at the time I don't think.
I could go for a PF SS RotF Prime with a nice paint scheme since I don't own any SS figures at this point.
Siege Prime with green windshields and more damage and dirt, is not very appealing, considering I already own the original release, and never liked the green cracked windshield in the show anyway.

Easy pass on these things but maybe a figure or two might stand out down the line

The on-package imagery shows him with correctly-colored blue windows.
Same with Bumblebee. He's a paler yellow than the brighter yellow on the packaging.

Maybe, maybe not. It could also be that they just used old/wrong photos for the packaging. Look at Prime's knees. In the stock photos, they are dirty with a new battle damage paint app we haven't seen before, on the package they are clean. That has nothing to do with the lighting, the paint apps are missing on the package photo, meaning that could simply be the same photo from the Siege packaging.

That is, as long that these are not locked in ultra exclusivity.

The Bee looks like a great concept, with the VW bug alt, gun, blade, and mask all in one figure... But it will probably be too expensive to justify it for me since I have the Netflix and clunker Bee.
But with the saturation of Buzzworthy Bumblebee in Targets and nothing else, and these characters being so overdone, and Prime not being the best mold, as well as so recent, I think if these don't sell well Hasbro will take the wrong message away. They will say "Transformers isn't as profitable because no one bought these" or they will say "Fans don't want premium finishes" or "fans really don't want Prime, so cancel that Armada Prime that we showed off for real." We don't want lazy repaints of recent molds that got released a bunch of times with a "premium" tacked on to inflate the price. Paint it right the first time. We do like Prime, he is a fan favorite, but it doesn't always have to be "G1" Prime, it's okay to branch out, especially after the phenomenal job that was ER OP (ER OP was really a dream come true for me personally. I don't mind playing with it with my 5yr old son, unlike MP-10). Also give us Titan Majin Zarak already.

Epsilon Delta wrote:Why the Siege OP mold? It may have been amazing when it came out enough for people to overlook the horrible cape and forearm fins, but once the Earthrise OP came out, it was soundly trounced. ER OP does everything the Siege OP did without the unsightly kibble and has a nicer vehicle mold. I took the cape off my spoiler pack Nemesis (it's a partsformers now, and I don't care). A premium finish can't help the mold unfortunately.

This isn't a hasbro thing, it's Takara's baby and that Armada Prime was already cancelled anyway. Besides those things you complain about in the Siege mold were done to give him a Cybertronian alt mold but still turn into the cartoon model (like all the characters did in the cartoons pilot).
We'll probably never get majin zarak as that's too obscure for hasbro, and Takara won't want to foot the bill for the new mould.
Also if I'm not mistaken, this is just a redeco of the VW Bee we got in Studio Series any way, which people reported wasn't the best of designs...

We also see that the plan is to release one figure from each line per month starting in October 2021. While this initiative is started by Takara, they may be available through Hasbro Pulse or other venues in the west as previous Takara "exclusive" were.
We've received some details of the coming up Transformers Premium Finish (PF) Series. This will be the original Japanese series, by selective of characters from two popular series: "Studio Series" & "War for Cybertron". The PF will add original premium paint details to make it as close to the screen accurate as possible. The first two release will be SS Bumblebee from Bumblebee Movie & Optimus Prime from the Netflix WFC Trilogy. Premium Finish will start release in coming October and will have 2 characters release in each month until March 2022 which means total of 12 characters (6 each).

I wonder if they'll ever stop pushing Optimus Prime & Bumblebee on us. I wish they would stop trying to turn Optimus Prime & Bumblebee into Batman & Robin. They've been pushing Bumblebee hard since 2007, enough is enough already!

It's the opposite for me, that Bee seems to have all the differences. Look at the lower arms and lower legs. The detail is all painted now, it looks really good.

Great comparison. Would DC ever stop pushing Batman on us? Don't think so.
But I don't see what the issue is. It means that even though we are comparing 35 year old characters to 80 year old ones, in the eyes of today's kids, both are as popular. That is an amazing achievement for the Transformers brand we love so much.

They are all replicating poses of the previous stock images so we can guess quite a bit of them along with that wheeljack. So far we have:
SS
1: Bee
2.
3. Ratchet
4: 07 Megatron
5:
6: Shockwave
WFC
1. Optimus
2. Megatron
3.
4.
5.
6. Wheeljack

Yeah, same here, the 'Bee looks like the one with the extra paint, added to his head, arms, face and ankles. Optimus looks like they just made his battle damage darker on his thighs, put some cracks on the windshield, and called it a day. Not seeing the huge differences on that one.

Gonna be shocked if movie Optimus isn't on that list somewhere. Which means the usual suspects are probably left for the remaining movie slot (Ironhide, Jazz or Starscream).
WFC could be more interesting, but there's a good chance Starscream takes one of those slots (because there's ALWAYS a seeker mold anymore), and probably a high chance of Soundwave or Shockwave taking one of the others. Really just a question of which popular Autobot(s) have a chance (Ironhide, Ratchet, 'Bee, Mirage, etc).
No movie Wheeljack yet, so I don't think they're going to just mirror casts between the two lines...

They push Bee because he sells, otherwise they wouldn't bother making something they know wouldn't sell.

Studio Series:
1. VW Bumblebee
2. 1976 Camaro Bumblebee (This one is a little more ambiguous, I've seen someone claim it's BB Prime)
3. 07 Megatron
4. Ratchet
5. SS-32 Optimus Prime
6. Jetfire
WFC (All appear to be Siege except Wheeljack)
1. Optimus Prime
2. Megatron
3. Ultra Magnus
4. Soundwave
5. Springer
6. Wheeljack
Interested to see what 1976 Bee, Ratchet, and SS Prime will look like!

Yeah, that's how I feel "movie the best" won many over. Not only were they the best painted toys yet but they were also toys some of us had trouble getting for a good price like Buster Prime and HA Soundwave.

But I highly doubt they ever will.

with prime, it looks like they made all the grey this yellowish cream color, added the darker cracks/damage to his thighs, and completely changed his window color from blue to lime green, something the threezero toy did.

Thanks to the Canadian store Age 3 & Up we now have Canadian prices for both the Premium Finish Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. We also have a HUGE lot of CLEAR pictures that are unobstructed by any obnoxious watermarks.
First, we got the Optimus Prime on preorder at 70$CAN. He's based on the voyager Siege mold and he come with his gun and his axe weapon accessory that can also be a shield. Notable differences with the regular release are his green and cracked windshield, plus more battle-worn details. Feast your eyes on the pictures below!
Next is Bumblebee on preorder for 45$CAN, based on the Studio Series 18 Bee Movie Bumblebee. This Bumblebee come with all the accessories of the original SS18 version. Notable difference in deco is a more "natural" yellow color scheme with more mechanical details highlighted in metal paints of various colors. Look how surprisingly well it turn out with the following pictures!
What do you think of these releases? Are you exited for these fancier toys, or is it just "more of the same"?

Whoever setup Prime, clearly has no idea how an axe is supposed to be held. Why would you attack with the spike at the back, rather than the full blade.
Anyway, bee looks nice, makes me want a Premium Finish Camaro Bee now.

Bee look more than nice. Now that I can see SOMETHING with the pictures, the differences are stellar with against the regular release. So much paint details added in both the car mode and the bot mode! Plus the price difference is not much considering deluxes are now 33$CAN. So, 12$ more is not much. A bummer that I'll have to pay the 14$CAN of shipping but eh.
I always skipped on the original because it look so cheap. But THAT Bee was an instant preorder for me.
As for the Optimus, big WUT on that 70$CAN price tag. Even if voyagers are now 45$CAN, that's a whopping 25$CAN extra. Plus that Optimus don't add much from the many, many re-releases of that mold.

That spike is for piercing armor, while the main blade is for heavy slicing, something that armor may be able to resist. The total force between the two may be same, but the pressure (force per square inch) is greater with the spike.
Anyway, bee looks nice, makes me want a Premium Finish Camaro Bee now.
