Everyone's favourite Seibertronian, Cobotron, has gotten his mits on the most recent Robots in Disguise toys: Warriors Ratchet and Bisk. He has given us a review of them full of in hand images. Enjoy!

Transformers News: Pictorial Review of Warriors Ratchet and Bisk from Robots in Disguise

So, I some how stumbled onto Robots In Disguise Warrior Class Wave 9. I found them at a Walmart in suburban Omaha. This wave includes the two new releases Ratchet and Bisk. It also reprises Scorponok, Power Surge Optimus Prime, Drift, and the repaint of Quillfire as Scatterspike.

I picked up Ratchet and Bisk, as well as Scorponok because to the best of my knowledge, Wave 8 has not shown up in my area.

Let's have a look at Ratchet, yeah?

Transformers News: Pictorial Review of Warriors Ratchet and Bisk from Robots in Disguise

His bot mode is outstanding! This is a great representation of this old stand by. With no knowledge of how he will be portrayed in the show, there is no doubt who he is supposed to be. From the classic windshield chest, to the iconic color scheme and head crest, to the grumpy old expression of his displeased turned down frown. Yup! That's Ratchet!

Transformers News: Pictorial Review of Warriors Ratchet and Bisk from Robots in Disguise

His articulation is good. Joints are all tight, and his stability is good due to his feet having an enormous surface area. He is as solid as his mold allows him to be. The inclusion of his two pistols is a cool nod to the past while being a really nice modern update in character design.

His head sculpt is awesome. It hits all those old classic design ques, but keeps up with the current look of the new RID. And HOLY SMOKES! Look at those eyes!

Of course we all know by now that Ratchet is a retool of the Strongarm mold. And a HEAVY one at that.

Transformers News: Pictorial Review of Warriors Ratchet and Bisk from Robots in Disguise

I would say about 40% of their parts are shared, but at least 85% of those parts have been re-sculpted with new detail. Even the hands and forearms (which are mostly hidden) have been re-detailed.
I should note that I have added some paint to my Strongarm, which is why she differs from the normal Hasbro release.

Transformers News: Pictorial Review of Warriors Ratchet and Bisk from Robots in Disguise

The only shame in this retooling is that they have done away with those nice posable feet of Strongarm's.

Alt mode
Transformers News: Pictorial Review of Warriors Ratchet and Bisk from Robots in Disguise

The alt mode is were the lack of paint is most apparent, but the mode itself is fantastic for the old gurney bot. Sure I want to see Ratchet as a van type vehicle, but this truck will do just fine. The retooling has altered the transformation a bit. Mostly in the legs / rear of the truck. The panels forming the front end have some gaps, but everything pegs together nicely.

All in all he is a really fun update to this classic old bot. I've heard some excitement about this toy working as a good MTMTE Ratchet. Sure! Heck he could even make for a good Classics Ratchet. The cool thing about using the ol' imagination noodle, is anything's possible!

Now for the mold I think people are most excited for.

Bisk

Transformers News: Pictorial Review of Warriors Ratchet and Bisk from Robots in Disguise

This is another one of those RID Warrior class figures that just nails it. He captures the funky posture and gesture of this wild character perfectly. His articulation is great. I'm not sure why or where he would need any more paint. The claws work out really well, and although seemingly a tad after thoughty, the way he holds those cool little blasters works just fine.

A face only a mother could love.

His head is molded out of a soft rubbery plastic so it can kind of contort into it's place in alt mode with no risk of breaking.

Thanks a lot for the pictures, you've definitely got me interested in Ratchet. I do rather hope Reprolabels might hit this guy up though to do something about the alt mode.

I am pleasantly surprised by the Decepticon forces for RID. I have no attachment to the cartoon, but the toys are too good to pass up.

Shame these are going to be hard to find in my area. My walmart finally got a new case but it's of five power surge Optomi and a few drifts and Windblades. Last time I checked that store was in November last year and they still had Offroad.

Nice review by the way, I always like these pictorial reviews over videos just because of how much more you an do with these. I've also got a question for you, does Ratchet's weapons attach anywhere else for an "attack mode"?

Ratchet deffo needs more paint in vehicle mode!(Takara get on that please)

& is it me? or does Bisk vehicle mode look like a TF Prime Vehicon? even the weapons placement in vehicle mode is similar to that of a Vehicon(well...at least on the TF Prime show) + with Thermidor his colours will prob even look more closer to that of a Vehicon.

Here is what the Takara version of both look like:

Really not that many differences, so Ratchet is meant to look like that in both versions.

And Bisk does look a bit like a vehicon as in they both are sporty cars and the weapons placement is the same, but they are drastically different figures. Plus, Bisk is much more sleek than the vehicon in alt mode

In much the same way that i got Paralon! coz i preferred his colours over that of Scorponok.

In other news, that Ratchet would make a killer Cannonball, dammit hasbro give us an amazing Cannonball already :BANG_HEAD:

even the cab section looks similar ;)

Speaking of similarities.....Ratchet! that type of vehicle! i mean we know he's supposed to be the one from TF Prime(although god knows why they didn't carry over the vehicle mode paint apps from the PRID to this one) but another transformers figure that shares vehicle mode similarities even with paint apps....is Rescue Bots Medix, so i'm wondering if they took inspiration from PRID Ratchet for Medix?

+ we now know that both Rescue Bots & RID have crossed over....Sideswipe (well....at least in one direction).

I didnt include that one since there wasnt a canon source for it. Its just something someone came up with and was never used in the comics, shows or films.

But anyways, I didnt think I needed more pictures to prove my point. Silly Springer, care for a digibash?

I guess since nobody else has said it yet, it's up to me. Brisk' vehicle mode really reminds me of Animated Blurr. Well, the front end, mostly.

Ratchet should've honestly been a retool of the Prime toy, since it's the same design with a few obvious tweeks. I know Hasbro probably never would've done it, though I thought maybe Takara would for Adventure considering they used Prime, and even Animated, molds. Ah well, the current TAV Ratchet will do, even though he's at the back of my list of import priorities.

As toyline filler since, at the time, there weren't enough RID 2015 molds to fill up what they needed to fill up the first few waves of the Adventure line. They didn't use Prime or Animated molds for onscreen RID 2015 cartoon characters (though, I could easily see them reissuing Prime Soundwave in the Adventure line to do just that).

If anything I hope he transforms easier. TFP Ratchet is my favorite but I don't transform him because he has this weird part on the back of his calves. Like when you go to slide the sides of them up there is a hinge that feels very grindy.

I need to chill. I am getting TOO exited about this figure. :HEADHURTS:

Hi guys! Sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if I could get some help with a TF purchase.

I'm hoping to get some RiD Decepticons this week, and I'm kind of split between two versions of the same mold. I'm thinking of getting either Scorponok or Paralon, but I'm not sure which version of the mold to get. So I was wondering what you guys thought of them. Does anyone have a preference for one over the other? If so, why? Anything to help me narrow this down would be great. Thanks so much, everybody!

Also, Bisk looks fantastic and now I'll definitely keep an eye out for him.

Hey!

I picked up Paralon. The purple looks really delicious compared to Scorponok (and I am a sucker for purple). They both have nice head sculpts, and they are both a great mold, so it can go either way! I mainly got Paralon since he was $2 cheaper at my TRU, where the exclusives like him are cheaper than the retail guys for some reason.

Either way, you can't go wrong, but I love the Paralon, so I'd recommend him

Thanks for the recommendation! The purple admittedly does look way better on that mold, and Stuartmaximus did mention that Beast Wars Scorponok headsculpt. Alright, I'm sold on Paralon! Thanks for the help guys!

Also, Thermidor would look great on that Bisk mold. I especially loved his personality on the show.

I'm rather interested if the gaps in ratchets legs can be filled in by popping the roof cover off and swapping them left to right (or flipping them upside down).

He's barely been in the show has he - so is there official design documents for his vehicle mode at all ?

I'd like to know what colour his wheels are supposed to be and if he has something missing like an EMT logo or such.

As he seems to be an Van rather than an EMT van as he has not roof lights that I can see.

I did notice that his colours are a partial mirror of the Prime Original toy - which is a little strange since they might actually be supposed to be the exacts same guy - just in a different art style.

He has a new body in RID. In Prime, his chest wasnt a windshield, but it is in RID. And his colours are reversed:

Fellow Seibertronian WreckerJack has informed us that Emgo has a video review for Warrior Robots in Disguise Ratchet. You can watch it below. This is a retool of Strongarm so the transformation is not fully new but this still gives you a good idea of the changes to the mold. If you preffer still images, we already have a pictorial review of the figure with comparisons to his mold mate.

Well i think he is supposed to be the exact same character! coz RID is supposed to be a continuation of Prime, plus we've already seen Soundwave on the show & we're also now seeing Starscream in whose flashback kinda sorta explains the look of him now compared to his look in Prime

Both Ratchets are the exact same character, yes. This isn't one of those really aggravating FoC Grimlock/RiD Grimlock situations...

I dont think RAR did not only mean that Ratchet was the same guy from before but also that he was unchanged. I think we all know he is the same guy. BUT he does have a new body in RID, just like Starscream, BB and Optimus do. A lot of time passed between Prime and RID. The only reason Soundwave doesnt have a new body is because he was trapped in the shadow zone that whole time but it makes sense that everyone, Ratchet included, have had changes to their body and the RID Ratchet toy is a good interpretation of the new colour scheme he sports.

The correct answer is both ;)

Actually its a very tough call if you're only going to get one version. I own Paralon, but I plan on getting Scorponok as soon as I spot him again. So I guess it depends on if you want a RID collection or a cool-ass Insecticon collection. It's a fantastic mold for sure and you cannot go wrong with either. So it's between purple or bronze. I much prefer the Scorponok head over Paralon's. I find his just to be weird or lackluster. That sparkly bronze paint job though :x Well enough fence sitting, I recommend Scorponok for pure sexiness and that he is in the show ;)^

That would be pretty cool. That is a fun mode that some people may have missed. Put a little chunky RID retooling and you have a win-win!

I'm excited for the new Ratchet. I'm torn - on one hand I'm happy its not just a PRID re-release, but on the other, it's just a Strongarm retool :HEADHURTS: Either way, it's a cool looking figure and I gots all the wants.

Spoilers but Paralon is also in the show. He doesn't have an accurate headsculpt tho.

 well then both is still the right answer ;)

I'm not a fan of the Paralon headsculpt, but still a fantastic figure.

I recomend whichever you can find for cheapest. Both are really as good (and both are on the show :) )

He might be one of these rescue SUV type vehicles.

Image

Considering Ratchet mentioned he spent some time being a bounty hunter it would make sense to have a lighter frame. I think that Ratchet would still want to have some role as a medic because of his level of skill and dedication.

My local FD has these cars and they are usually to transport more EMT's or Firefighters without having to use a bigger vehicle. Say you have a fire but only really need one truck, but need more personnel than the truck can safely carry. That's where these come in.

I have also heard of them being used for some minor injuries and wellness checks.

I was thinking more from the point of view of the cartoon makers I guess - I just thought it a little strange that ratchet is VERY similar in vehicle mode to his old self - only with the ambulance parts mostly removed.

So what I was wondering is he still supposed to be an Ambulance or not ?
is he smaller than before - after his "Design tweaks" as that sort of SUV used by paramedics or the fire department in forests is a bit smaller than the ambulance mode. (not much) but a bit.

Yet still so similar - I guess that is just a consequence of him being a Strongarm based design (toywise).

-----

But anyway is there any images of the cartoon model for his vehicle mode available (like the ones that exist of many of the other characters).

I'm also looking for some better images of cartoon Jazz's car mode too.

Ratchet's alt mode was never shown on the show. Also, does it matter?

Yes.

1 I need to know specifically what paint is missing on the toy a picture of the character models vehicle mode would help with that.
2) I would hope he'd show up again before the show ends - but there is so few eps left - maybe he won't unless he's in the finale.

While I think of it any sign on Magnus ?

I just wanted to know if he woke up again or not.

Magnus is alive and well in the RID world. He was featured in the very first comic
