Mykltron wrote:He was originally due for release by the end of July. I've just been told he's due end of August so this looks like he's been delayed FOR A SECOND TIME. Ridiculous. They ought to have learned how to stick to schedule by now.
I don't know if it will directly delay the release of Bumblebee but he was never going to be released on time anyway. None of them are.
Demands must be so high.

Its also worth noting that no one else got these emails and none of the other retailers sent them out Annnnnd HLJ just put up NEW pre-orders for WJ. What probly happened is they decided to make more, but release that second batch in Sept instead.
Either way, people shouldn't freak out till the two big retailers (AE/HLJ) in Japan or BBTS confirms. Then you can freak out if you want.

Perhaps we should never take any notice of expected dates and then when they turn up its a nice surprise.

yeeaahh... id never preorder anything off ebay. anyone correct me if im wrong, but i beleive you have one month after auctions end to report a problem or open a case. so if that time has lapsed and the thing hasnt even been released yet you could be SOL. that is of coarse if the seller is a d-bag.reluctantyouth wrote:I ordered mine off Ebay in April I think...hope the guy I dealt with is solid. Anyone know how long an order will exist in Ebay before it totally exits system and Paypal will not pay you back? That's what sucks about paying upfront .

Same with ths02 first edition Convoy with the black solar powered armor. It also sported 2 Yaniger style heads.

"Doesn't tend to" isn't the same as "doesn't ever". It just means that they don't make a habit of using artwork from non-Japanese sources. Lambor G-2 Ver. is a notable example of such rare instances in which they do. But all the main line releases seem to use Japanese artwork unique to those releases.Va'al wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Yeah, Masterpiece doesn't tend to use non-Japanese artists' artwork.
Do you mean as accompanying artwork?
Because in G2 Lambor's case, they definitely used Derek Yaniger's designs for the headsculpt!

Do we know, other than MP01 and MP12G, what figures are based on non-Japanese art?

Does it count if it's a redeco/retool of a previously existing figure? I suppose by throwing MP12G in there, I corner myself, yeah..
I'm now going to leave and think about recent figures based on recent artwork, and draw a conclusion about.. something.

I already made one: No US art, unless the figure in question is based on a Marvel Comics appearance.

Well, most of them really. The original toys were Japanese, but these new toys are based mostly on the artwork from the American cartoon.
Plus, the instructions include screen caps from the American show.
Posted by Sabrblade on September 9th, 2014 @ 4:03pm CDT
The show's animation models were made by Shōhei Kohara (of Takara) and Floro Dery. And the animation was all done by Toei (in Japan), AKOM, and one other studio. So there is a heavy Japanese influence in the art design of the G1 cartoon, despite the cartoon being conceived in and made for America.Cyberpath wrote:Va'al wrote:Precisely.

The new photos, include his bio card and packaging in high resolution, among the obligatory figure shots. You can see the ordering page over at Amazon Japan by clicking here. It should be noted the Amazon Japan sales include an exclusive accessory.
According to Seibertron.com sponsor, TFSource, they should be receiving their shipment around a week after his Japanese release, so he'll be shipping to your homes sooner than you think. I know it's tough to wait, but we're in the home stretch now!

Just to add to the convo.
Well, there are also the Reissues from the early 2000s that used Dreamwave artwork, and the Revoltechs that are directly based on Pat Lee's artwork, but then again that's not Takara.
But yeah, generally Takara uses their own art, although it's sometimes by US or international artists that also work for Hasbro.

Minute OCD moment. In WJs advertisement/decal, on WJ's doors, the yellow banner, Tomy wasn't able to recreate it or get the license? Too bad.Calling reprolabels.

They got the licensing for Alitalia and Lancia...but yes, the other dozen or so sponsors are all missing as I'm sure it woulda cost a fortune to get them all. No doubt Reprolabels will make a set, just as long as there are no cigarette companies!

Was that yellow banner a cigar product?

No, I don't think so. The cigarette comment was based on their lame ass stance of not doing a set for MP-23...because they don't like smoking. It's a good thing they like trademark infringement or they'd really be in a pickle!
