As much as I love the Retro appeal, patience is definitely a virtue in this instance.

Cybershark was the original Beast Wars shark, transforming from a wicked robot to hammerhead shark. His base tooling would go on to be the inspiration for Beast Wars II Hellscream and Beast Wars Neo Sharpedge, while he would also get a Transmetal II toy that would eventually end up repainted into fan favorite character Sky Byte in Robots in Disguise.
Preternia was only able to offer the stock images, but we anticipate that a link on Walmart will be coming soon. It is estimated that Cybershark will retail for approximately $22.99, in line with the deluxe Cheetor and Tigatron releases.
Check out the images below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

My best guess as to why is that maybe Hasbro are making a new Cybershark toy in the near future (or a new Sky-Byte with the intention to repaint it into Transmetal 2 Cybershark), and this reissue ensures that the "Maximal Cybershark" trademark is freshly minted and ready to use for a new toy. This probably isn't the case, but it kind of makes sense to me.
Would be awesome if you were right

Maybe they just had the mold available.I'm super happy he's getting reissued, my Cybershark has been missing a fin ever since he was given to me second hand 25 years ago.

Yes. The Beast Wars Second retool as Hellscream was ever so slightly redecoed (as in a few paint apps were removed and a Decepticon symbol was stamped onto his chest) as Universe Overbite.chuckdawg1999 wrote:Was one of the Cybershark remolds used in a Universe set way back in the early/mid 2000s?

He does have a slight retooling that TFWiki doesn't mention but is pretty obvious when they're side by side. Hasbro blunted Overbite's nose by sticking a ball on it.

I would rather they reissued characters that have updated renditions such as Dinobot or AirRazor.
Hope they reissue Inferno. That big red ant was cool.

I was lucky a couple of years ago to grab a K-9 MOSC and a MIB takara Buzzsaw for really cheap which was super cool.

I did my own comparison shot with Kingdom Scorponok.
For those who have bought Scorponok, did you have any issues with the left claw not locking back into place? I never owned the original version, so not sure if i am doing something wrong. Its a straight forward process. For now i have it secured with the clear bands that come with it.
Otherwise i am happy with him and looking forward to buying Cybershark.

There was a few more on the top shelf. They were hanging these from a peg you can't see on the left of the stack, but apparently after this big restock they needed to be more creative. No idea why they stock these with the JP figures.

Funny considering how Cheetor and Rattrap were previously the most abundant ones at that store.

The newest batch of figures consists of 2 figures, and those 2 figures are Cybershark and Wolfang. Cybershark was previously revealed thanks to a walmart listing, while Wolfang has been rumored but is at last confirmed. Wolfang is the original Maximal release of the figure as well.
Both of these figures are set to be released for Preorder this Thursday March 24 at 1:00PM EST, so stay tuned for those preorders, which will be part of Walmart Collector Con.
Check them out, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Did you think the same about the G1 reissues Walmart got? Cuz those took up just as much shelf space as these currently do.DeathReviews wrote:I know Beast Wars has it's fans - but... these are re-issues. Maybe it would be better if these re-issues were kept as online exclusives at Pulse or something. That way the fans who really like these can order them, while store shelves are used to stock more of the newer, current figures....

I do at the moment - because I'm noticing that a lot of the shelf space that could be used to stock more of the newer lines (many of which are rarely seen in some areas) is full of re-issue figures instead. Many of the WFC line figures were never seen on store shelves by many areas (figures like Mirage, Trailbreaker, the Runamuks), and one can't help looking for cause and effect. While at the same time, those shelves were clotted with re-issue figures that didn't sell well, and wound up in clearance months later. Are stores passing on getting more of the newer figures, so they can stuff the shelves with these re-issues? Maybe not - but... maybe?

To be fair, I've noticed the same shelfwarming with the RED figures. However, due to that vocal part of the fanbase (and contingent within HasTak itself), catering to nostalgia tends to trump moving Transformers forward as a brand/franchise/series.

But here's the thing. I'm afraid to unbox him because of his damn spring-loaded gimmicks. I fear that I'll lose the claw-bee and the missiles in a matter of seconds.

Nope.
I bought it on Walmart.ca
And contrary to Amazon, Walmart have packed my Scorponok CAREFULLY in a BOX with BUBBLE packing.

At worst, you'd have to hunt around for where the Cyberbee went whenever you put the figure down (until the plastic clip inevitably broke). The missiles had a bit more bite to them. But I only put them in once. As I lost one of the missiles upon loading it for the first time.
