Artist Don Figueroa submitted a concept for a Unicron Trilogy Bludgeon toy way back during the development of the Energon or Cybertron toylines. Obviously, the concept wasn't put into production as a toy at the time, so Figueroa used it as inspiration for his IDW Publishing Stormbringer rendition of Generation 1 Bludgeon. However, Hasbro evidently resurrected the concept for the Universe (as mentioned by Hasbro at BotCon 2009) and then the Revenge of the Fallen lines, where it was finally released as that universe's Bludgeon. Figueroa notes that his contribution on this toy is very small, as his work on it ended when he submitted the concept to Hasbro way back when.

They ordinarily take the Classics/Generations designs for this stuff, with the occasional movie design. I don't recall the last time they used an MP.

Are we certain that it's specifically the MP design and not just a design based on G1 Sideswipe in general?megatronus wrote:Sabrblade wrote:A G1 toy as a G1 character... So?megatronus wrote:I'm surprised that people are making a big deal over ROTF Bludgeon, but not MP Sideswipe!

Optimus's Legends designs look like they could be either MP Convoy or a general G1 Optimus design.

Being that all of the panel lines, hinges, etc. that are exclusive to the MP figure are present in this image, yes, I am sure it's specifically the MP design and not a generic G1-based design.
Give it another look.

It could just be a general design that draws inspiration from the MP as well as from the basic G1 Sideswipe look ordinarily.

I'm not sure if you're being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian...
Bludgeon's face and forearms are not 100% accurate to the ROTF toy, but it is unmistakably ROTF Bludgeon. Whether you want to say it's "inspired by" ROTF Bludgeon is up to you, but it is ROTF Bludgeon. So too with Sideswipe here - you can say it's "inspired by" MP Sideswipe, but it is unmistakably the MP design, slightly shrunken chest or not.

I managed to snag Goldfire, Hoist, and Dreadwing through http://www.hasbrotoyshop.com a couple of weeks ago, but for some reason they failed to list Skids at the same time. And of course, now it's out of stock. So now I'm waiting for Skids to be restocked and hopefully that'll happen about the same time Whirl is added to the "Order Now" category. Or maybe even when Rattrap, Crosscut, Tankor, Arcee, and Chromia are added would be excellent as well. Free shipping is free shipping.
I also recommend ordering the simplified transformation version of Voyager Class Predaking. This dude is huge and lists for the same price as the other Voyagers that are smaller than it is, including its original version of itself. And the wings are better than the original when it comes to posing them behind Predaking in robot mode.

WHEN SPARKS FLY" A BEAST WARS EVENT IS NOW LIVE!
Racing to a volatile crash site in the wilderness, the Maximal Silverbolt is astonished to discover a pod marked only with an “X” at the crater’s epicenter. Still unsure of what the pod contains, the villainous Predacons attack Silverbolt, trying to steel the pod! Leading the charge, Predacons Blackarachnia, Waspinator and Terrorsaur overpower the noble Maximal, but Silverbolt will go down fighting!
Terrorsaur accidentally breaks the pod open during the battle and its contents are let loose—the abomination called Rampage, a mish-mash of scientific monstrosity created to destroy and devour its enemies—and Rampage thinks EVERYONE is his enemy!
The bombastic battle knocks Silverbolt and Blackarachnia into a swamp where they are forced to rely on each other to survive. At first, bitter enemies, Silverbolt’s chivalrous attitude slowly wins over Blackarachnia’s acidic personality. The two survive and rejoin the melee, only to discover that while on opposite sides of the battle line, the two have more in common than either would have dared believe.
The skirmish with Rampage is joined by Depthcharge, a fierce Maximal who recognized the crashed pod for what it was, the prison holding Rampage! Blaming Rampage for the slaughter of dozens of his friends, Depthcharge is out for revenge!

Battlebots was on at the same time Fox was airing butchered reruns of Beast Wars, so it makes enough sense.
And hey, Terrorsaur lived until at least Bad Spark in game 'continuity'! Awesome! Here's hoping his card is his Transmetal body.

Yeah, but that's basically the character of Spike in a new outfit. I'm talking about doing Circuit Breaker again but just tweaking her enough to avoid litigation.
Sort of like a Jetfire->Skyfire deal. Can Disney still come after them?
Posted by Sabrblade on February 27th, 2014 @ 10:04am CST
After all, Circuit Smasher if pretty much "Circuit Breaker as a dude", but his differing gender, name, identity, etc. makes him okay to use. If he were a woman, however, that might be pushing it unless she was given a more unique face and hairstyle to make her different enough from Circuit Breaker.
After all, the Club gave us a Shattered Glass analogue to Circuit Breaker a few years ago, but her costumed name was "Emulator" and her powers were an inverse of Circuit Breaker's, being to absorb energy into her suit rather than generating energy from within, which she would then release in form of attacks copied from the abilities granted to the SG Autobots by their power chip rectifiers (in other words, she takes their powers and uses them in copied form). Her look was also different but still vaguely similar enough to recognize her:

The war between Autobots and Decepticons has ravaged the ground and burned the skies! Now it plunges into the dark and deadly depths of the oceans!

The funny part is, given the volume of AKOM errors tarnishing that epic, it's not too big a stretch to pretend these three characters were actually there, but misdrawn or omitted by mistake. Could the red guy who looks like Lightspeed extended into a Station Wagon be...SG Drift?!?
