Heuuuuungh, now I finally comprehend the pain of Australian living. Even taking into account the addition of sales tax, that price comes out to less than a PotP Deluxe would cost me anywhere in this country.

(I usually try not to exclusively complain in my posts, but when I'm already really really excited to pick up Elita-1 and know I'll have to wait another couple months, every tiny jab hurts just that little bit more... )

My Elita-1 has black glossy feet, not peach! (And I had to pay €40 for both of these )

Wanna feel really frustrated? I literally found and bought these two figures at my local Walmart (2 miles away) not an hour before I saw them on HTS, and now I have to wait until they're shipped so I can decide on which of the figures to keep in package and which to return. The agony of choice....

Everything on HTS seems like it's blink & you miss it, at least for Exclusives & the highly sought after new releases.

I really wish that Hasbro would run their own online store, rather than contracting through someone else. Kind of defeats the point of buying from "Hasbro Toy Shop" when you still aren't buying direct. I wonder if TRU going under might spur Hasbro and Mattel to launch outlet stores...

I mean I know TF fans are dedicated. But I really question how many of these they had if they all sold between 2-4am (PDT), which I know would be 5-7am EDT, but still...

ok so earlier when I checked they had everything PotP in stock except Elita-1 & Hun-Gurr. Now when I check they have nothing in stock for PotP. I mean I have all the ones I want so far except Hun-Gurr...but is it just HTS being glitch again, or are they really completely wiped out?

It's terrible how those sold out before 8am. Either they had very low inventory, or the scalpers cleaned up. Absolutely terrible either way.

Scalpers are obviously having a field day with these 2, HTS really needs to do back orders or something cause this is complete crap.

I want pink feet for my elita combiner. Mine came with black feet (tfsource) Can anyone confirm that the pink feet actually exist ? Or is that just the promotional art and the color got changed in production?

Great news. The feet ARE pink... just under black paint now. You can use 90+% alcohol to remove the paint. That's exactly what I'm doing ... as soon as I find one. sigh.

Thanks for the heads up. That will free up a weekend for doing some OTHER custom project besides pink feet.

The Amazon Starscream got down to $16.17 as far as I can tell. It was going down a few cents at a time (a few time an hour I think) since this past weekend.

It is now back up to $16.55 since it got down to $16.17 this morning. For those who are interested, this might be the time to get it discounted.

That doesn't tick me off as much as when you have to luck out & be online at whatever random time they put exclusives on sale in the afternoon that sell out in 10 minutes. I was fortunate to get 2 out of the 3 I wanted last year, but still kinda bummed out that I missed out on Primitive Optimus.

Well if you look now on HTS Elita and Hun Gurr aren't just out of stock, they actually deleted them off the site. Even POTP Grimlock is still there, even though he's been out of stock for ages. They have the inmates running the asylum over there I think.

Yeah, I got the feeling that the original animators might have wanted to make Optimus's female Autobot Leader counterpart have something from his design to serve as a visual representation of her leadership position, and so chose to give Elita One her own "shoulder stacks" like the ones Prime had.

Yeah, it seems like Hasbro Toy Shop deleted the listings after they sold out. Who knows what the idea was behind that, but for the time being you apparently can't even find 'em on HTS, let alone buy them there.

As many of us know, the tail-end releases of lines can often be hard to non-existent to find in big-box retail stores; think Combiner Wars Sky Lynx; Thrilling 30 Arcee and Chromia; and Titans Return Overlord. While these figures elude many shelves at Walmart, Target and Toys R Us (RIP ), they often find their way to discount chains like Marshalls and TJMaxx. Case in point? Titans Return Slugslinger and the rest/repacks of the Wave 6 assortment have found their way to Ross! This particular sighting comes to us from the Ross store located in West Bountiful, Utah, courtesy of yours truly. Priced at just $7.99 (!), I found two of Slugslinger as well as one each of Hot Rod and Hardhead.





Have you seen any hard to find figures out and about at your discount chains? Please let us know, and as always, post away in your local sightings forum to help fellow local collectors out.

Guess I'll be checking my local Ross' in a few days then. Not sure if I'll pick any up though.

Yeah, wave 5 is the hard one to find. Wave 6 was easy to find at Walmart.

But of course Misfire is my favorite so as usual I get boned. If Misfire was in wave 1 then wave 1 would have been impossible to find.

The only one I found from wave 6 was Slugslinger. I couldn't find Overlord or Misfire. Heck, even on Amazon I don't remember Misfire being under $25

Yeah I never saw anything passed wave 4 and I have 8 Walmart’s and 7 Targets and 2 toysrus around me. Ended up just going online for the rest except Windblade and just got the Legends version this week. Gotta say I’m pretty impressed with her.

I got my 2 Misfires off Amazon for $19.99 each when they were first released. I bought the 2nd for a custom & to get free shipping.

How does distribution work when a huge store like Walmart totally skips over a wave?

I'm inclined to think there was just way less produced in this wave. Apparently a few Targets & Walmarts in the U.S. did get them if the sightings section is accurate, but they were few and far between. In other places such as Canada and Asian markets, these items were not in short supply, so either they produced more for those markets, or yes, there are a ton of figures just sitting in a warehouse somewhere. If that were the case though, one would think they would have shown up at Ross/TJMaxx and the like a while ago. Of course the same thing happened with Kre-o. I had to really hunt for the last few Kreon Transformers figs. I even called Hasbro customer service to ask why these toys were being sold in Canada, Brazil, and Asian markets and NOT in the United States, and nobody could give a definitive answer.

If a store is sitting on pallets and pallets of nerf guns they won’t order other stuff still their backstock is gone no matter how empty transformers are or something else.

Now with Star Wars back in full force and marvel having a movie out every fall spring and summer they’re sitting on tons of that. Star Wars especially. I had a Walmart I had as an account and I heard them say flat “don’t order anymore toys until we burn through our nerf and Star Wars backstock.

Late waves like wave 6 end up in discount stores because they sit in Hasbro a warehouse and they dump them off on Ross and TJ maxx and marshals at cost just to get rid of them or they do big sales on the Hasbro store.

I appreciate that insight. What this tells me is that Hasbro needs to get more involved in, or improve, the distribution of its toys. Maybe it needs to rethink everything, but something has to give. It is a major problem if there are products that its customers want, and Hasbro can't deliver that product because it's sitting in a warehouse. That just shouldn't happen. And with TRU going out of business, now is a great time for Hasbro to rethink through its strategy and figure out how to best get its products into the hands of its paying customers.

I'm sure the solution is much more complicated than anything I can come up with, but a great start would be to revamp its online store. It should make everything it sells available online, and you should be able to tell if something is in stock without clicking into the product page, for starters. I'm sure there are a ton of other suggestions we can easily come up with for the site.

I believe that is part of why Hasbro is rebranding Transformers and many of its other brands presumably *every year*. Instead of a particular line such as CW or TR that lasts 18 months-2 years, they will be rebranding every year. Presumably the toys may not change that much (The beginning of the next line may have toys intended for PotP...) we can only hope. Still, one would think, even if walmart decided to hold off on purchasing any toys, Hasbro still would have produced them...we did not see them at discount, so where'd they all go? is still a valid question...unless truly they did not produce as many for TR deluxe wave 5

Well they can’t. Just like with my company places like Walmart’s targets and all they are their customers and they deserve to be treated as such and in the end Hasbro makes most of that stuff so it’s not like they’re hurting when a store has a warehouse of Star Wars and marvel toys because people want that more than transformers. That’s just fact

Nah all of wave 2 was available earlier in the week. I only ordered the Dinobots, and it's arriving on Monday.

So let me help with something. I used to be an Operations Manager for a big box retail chain. Most stores, have the wave in a system by its SKU. The SKU is usually keyed to auto replenish when stock hits 1.

Lets use POWER OF THE PRIMES Starscream as an example: Most of us thinks the figure sucks...the store gets the initial shelf stock an a refill usually. So we now have 6 Starscreams sitting on a shelf because everyone wanted Grimlock. We have to wait until there is 1 left for it to trigger the auto order of the new wave. Then we get all the Elita’s and Hungrrs everyone wants, and we clean the shelf fast. Usually an auto order system will see a trend and order more stock. So say wave 3 is Starscream and Hungrrrr...well now we as collectors are all stocked on what we want... so wave 3 sits on the shelf...we miss wave 4 because 3 is on the shelf, we get wave 5 because someone took pity and bought the Starscreams and Hungrrs left over. So once you see this pattern you will see when you need to go online and order. Stores care about peg space and looking full, they don’t care about wave or assortments.


Also those people who buy a figure and switch them, or the returns also clog those systems. Returns are usually sent back once, maybe twice a month. They are in most inventory systems as a 1...which keeps new waves from showing up and an empty space on a shelf as well. Takes around 3 weeks for a return to clear an inventory system and another 2 weeks for it to restock a shelf.

Thanks for that. So what I'm saying is this isn't a sustainable model. Something has got to change or Amazon is going to knock them all out of business. I'm exaggerating (a little).
