Also, I can't wait for that Bisk toy! I'm also probably going to grab that Ratchet and Strongarm. As for that Windblade, I think it's growing on me.

You dont mind that the Optimus is a simplified tf? Did you get the 5 step megatronus?
Power Surge Optimus Prime is a new mold, in the size of a Leader Class figure, which transforms in 7 steps
And did you see the alt mode?
If you want him, great, but I did want to precise info that not everyone may derive from these awesome looking images. This toy is very much the equivalent of Weaponizer Optimus, which was a kids toy and that fans rejected. Although this one has a poorer alt mode and less articulation.

Unlike that Megatronus, though, this Optimus appears to have decent articulation.william-james88 wrote:D-Maximus_Primal wrote:I cannot wait to get these warriors. Plus that big Optimus

I do want him and I have thoroughly checked him out. the robot mode is the main grab for me. I want a power surge Prime, but as I already have a warrior Optimus, I'd like something different. And yes while the alt mode isn't good I'm ok with it, and I primarily display bigger transformers in robot mode anyway. And his robot mode looks awesome. Plus the gimmick seems pretty good too. And he is articulated, and no I did not get big Megatronus

I will also give you a quick minicon-review of the figures themselves:
Hammer is an incredible little figure that features a solid Transformation into a cyclone, and his energon parts work very well for him. His colors work nicely and the red, blue and green make for an interesting combination. He features moving parts in his wings as well as a rotating tail.
Anvil is probably the weakest of the pack as he lacks any articulation and comes with no energon parts. He does make for a good gargoyle though!
Undertone is a nice little figure. He features moving arms and a nice fold up transformation. Now, in the show he is portrayed as a buzzsaw, and as a toy there are only Decepticon deployers that work with cyclones, making him an oddity. He does also have a nice double row of spikes going around the whole cyclone shape though.
Weaponizer Slipstream is the winner of the wave for me. He is an all new mold, though he shares the same transformation style as his buzzsaw counterpart. He comes with energon bits that give him the look of a 4-barreled gun and enables him to hold a pair of guns in robot mode. The energon bits work exceptionally well with this figure. He has a flip-down handle on his back that is long and enables all kinds of characters to hold him. He also features a brand new head sculpt.
I have mirrored the images below for your enjoyment. Check them out, and let us know what you think in the comments section below. And as always Stay tuned to Seibertron.com for all your latest Transformers News and Galleries!

And Ball-formers is not a bad term either.
Seriously though: Slipstream is the star of this set. The weapons are looking to be awesome guys

Alt mode: very much like the show. Its not the most exciting vehicle but that's the idea of this character. There is no robot kibble either, and the underside doesnt look like a bot hiding under a car. The vehicle reminds me a lot of Beast Hunter Bulkhead for some reason. What I really like is the nice mix of brown tones and the paint in the front that brings out the sculpted detail. There isnt the same in the back but, and this is very surprising, the wheel's rims are painted. Also, there is great weapon storage. You can fit his gun right between his feet and calves, it sticks there really well. I love how there are a ton of small tabs that keep panels secure in this mode. Everything fits well and stays secure.
Robot mode: this is a very strong outing from Hasbro. He has the features you would want from Quillfire, with the right proportions. His articulation is perfectly serviceable with swivels in all the right places. He can even open adn close his mouth which is a lot of fun with Transfomrers that have snouts. He has a nice array of quills in the back with a big quill that can be removed and used as a dagger or pointing stick. It's these nice little touches that mean a lot to me. The only thing that is a bit too bad is that while he has a lot of alt mode integration, there is the top part of the car that hangs off his back, and he ends up with a fake chest instead of it being his actual windshield. Still its better than Strongarm or Sideswipe where the chest has to peg in. Here it is a nice solid piece that wont unclip. He is a superior mold to almost every autobot actually (maybe tieing with Drift).
Conversion: straight forward with the arms and legs but still a nice mix of complexity with some slight innovation in the way the quills are stored. Especially since the front of the car end up folding onto itself.
In a way, this mold has everything I look for in a transforming toy. Original design (with the robot mode), weapon storage in alt mode, no extraneous kibble in alt mode, a ton of new detail in robot mode which still sports some nice alt mode integration. Good poseability and a neat transformation with some fun features that we havent seen yet or dont see much (like the removeable quill and articulated jaw in robot mode). And good deco all around, even if the colour mix is due to different coloured plastic rather than paint, he later of which is still present and serves to highlight the sculpt.
8/10

I dont know about you but I cant find a single 3 step Grimlock or Optimus (in original colours) at any store. This lets me know that these will sell just fine, just like everything else.

Now for gushing: I love Thunderhoof. He is my favorite character from the show, so I am biased, but he is a great figure! His alt mode is an awesome blue combine and it literally shows no robot mode parts save the head, but that makes it fun! His transformation is very involved for being so simple and he pulls off one of the greatest robot modes of the line. He has no backpack, no kibble. instead, he has huge beefy arms making him look like the strong brute he is. His antler, oh the antlers. YES!! Finally a mold gets it right! and his legs are long and have great hooves. He is extremely dynamic and is in my opinion the best con we have gotten from the line, just barely beating Fracture. paint is in there, but overall it's where it really needs to be. And his gun stores in both modes and he's just a badass!
so, some pictures:

Sabrblade wrote:Oh dear. After having seen so many looks at the Takara versions of Quillfire and Thunderhoof, those colors on the Hasbro ones look downright gaudy by comparison (Thunderhoof's antlers/fork should be blue, not black!).
Its KILLING me too! I saw Thunderhoof at the store today and I could have gotten him, but at the same time I was thinking about waiting to find the Takara version at a decent price. Him being such a good mold, does it make up for the paint scheme, or does it thus eserve a better one. Oh decisions!
Quillfire is not bad at all though. Especially in robot mode, the Hasbro coours work fine and have a decent variety.

I know this will sound mean but I dont mind if my area skips wave 3. I really want those minicon weapons. I wouldnt mind if wave 3 and 4 come out at the same time like waves 1 and 2 did though.

Yeah, I want to get to the weapons too, but I do want several of the wave 3 and 4 guys, like Ransack, Jetstorm, and others

Makes you wonder why they wouldn't just domesticate Supreme Mode Prime from Takara.

Maybe he looks like this in season 3 and the Takara mold was just too different to remold into resembling this form.Cobotron wrote:william-james88 wrote:Sigma Magnus wrote:The truck mode looks awful...

Or, the Takara mold is just too complex for/too far outside the range of difficulty for this line's target audience. After all, Hasbro's current mindset for its mass retail lines seems to be "keep things simple".

True. Burrito Supreme is pretty complex relative to the rest of the line, and ya this is obviously a new iteration of OP.

It looked like it's just supposed to fold down on his back, not detach, but I assume it will be an optional detachment

About the look, what I find odd is taht Takara has this mold coming out too and the deco is completely different. He isnt white at all. And they usually like to make things show accurate so I have no clue why it would be so different unless it turns out that Optimus doesnt turn white.

It was seperated at Botcon:

I could see Hasbro's being the show-inaccurate colors since Hasbro's Windblade is predominately red few other colors, yet Windblade in the show has a more even balance of black and red.william-james88 wrote:About the look, what I find odd is taht Takara has this mold coming out too and the deco is completely different. Q: This is to clarify something about the Robots in Disguise toys that transform in only three steps, what is the official term for that assortment? Is it “Three-Step Changers” or “Hyperchange Heroes”? Both names have appeared in several various retail websites.
Ben: “Three-Step Changers.” That’s the fun of Trademark applications, time, and all that fun stuff. So we have committed to “Three-Step Changers” to keep us out of any problem areas. That was a fantastic last question.
