Interesting. I know mine has closed hands.

I hope if/when I get one it has closed hands, but I'm not going to put extra time/money into making sure.

Arcee of the open hand brings peace and justice- Arcee of the closed hand brings war and destruction- all must fear Arcee of the closed hand

Hmmm interesting.... I like the open handed look better. Gives her a less toy-like appearance.

Surely you could grind down the bottom of the hand so she can hold her weapon better?

im like cool open hands!

then i see she can barley hold her gun, so now im like, not so cool open hands! lololol

hope we get the closed hands in toronto.

I can live with my toys looking like toys.

I prefer closed hands because they're usually molded to look like fists and thus look right whether they're holding something or not, whereas open hands it's usually one or the other, but not both.

I just they'd retool her without the bellybutton and blatent abs. A nice angular faux belly is fine, I get it, but its too human, and I find it distracting for a robot. (Now, on a real girl, rwr rowr...)

I hope it's not because this Arcee figure has thumb issues too.

Stress marks are sure to be expected bro. Good that they improved it. I wonder if the Tomy ones will sport this change?

Mostly has to do with the headmaster's head.
It's on a post attached with a screw. If your not careful with the mechanism that connects with the torso, the headmasters head will break off when you pull. stripping the threads in the neck and severing the head. The head tends to insert to far into the mechanism, and too much force is needed to get it out.
Also sounds like some sloppy residuals from sprew(spell?) separation.

Yikes. Good thing to know ahead of time though, so I can check for mold flash, extra gate, and maybe loosen up the assembly a bit.

Scotty P, if you see this, would you mind explaining?
Mold flash? (is that what you call the "residuals from sprew(spell?) separation?)
Extra Gate?

watching the 2 vid reviews really helped to know what to expect and how to avoid the head issues.

I went into a Target today, and they had Generations Springer just sitting there. Do they still sell him in stores regularly, or was this just a very fortunate discovery? Because I was about to buy him online last week for a higher price, but decided against it. So, I'm glad I found him at retail.

Good save! Good thing you didn't pay more.
I see him everywhere still. I have also seen a surplus of
Sandstorm
FoC Grimlock
Gen Blaster, Soundwave, Soundblaster
The last three are all 19.99 at Walmart.

Out of that list, I only ever see Sandstorm and Blaster. No one hardly has anything.

I need an extra FOC grimlock. Wanna make a nice G2 one for the ole G2 shelf.

I'm pissed I payed full price for Blaster and a week later he went on sale.
Although I'm in a "big-ish" city I'm kinda in the middle of no where.
No surprise these are all still around here. We don't usually see new stuff right away either.

I'm sure I saw Springer at retail some time within the last month, but don't remember exactly when/where, as I didn't really pay too much attention because I've already had one a while. If I had to guess, I'd say TRU, just because they always seem to have a ton of older Voyagers, but it could have been a Target or K-Mart. I'm sure it wasn't a Walmart as I've not been there for a while.

I did see Sandstorm in a Target today, and managed to pick up a Skids for myself. After opening it, I kinda wish I didn't get it. Oh well, they can't all be winners.

Legendary internet reviewer Vangelus got his late last week and had to disassemble the entire torso to fix the spring. I think he had an issue that was above and beyond what's been mentioned here. Keep in mind he owns a pin press and you'll need that to remove the skirt pieces that along with screws hold the torso together. I hate to say it but I don't think these are QC issue but once again horrible flaws in the design that should've been worked out.

You were not wrong. They are a complete scam to get kids to buy five toys instead of just one toy.

Fortunately, we are old and wise enough now that we don't fall for such schemes.

Waitaminit. The limbs actually snap in place using SLIDES/SLOTS instead of just being pegged in?! That makes for way more solid limbs attachement! Also, they finally came to their senses and made a VOYAGER torso!

Me, the ghestalt hater, may begin to finally love them again after the excellent G1 Scramble City line.

I knew that. But seeing them on video confirm it. JFC, after so many lame, LAME combiners with the torso the same size as the limbs, NOW we are finally getting the combiners we deserves without having to pay a gonzillion $ to a 3rd party company.

Sandstorm is awesome, better than Springer, IMHO. Skids sucks. I hate the not removable arm guns and his arms are not very good since his shoulders don't move. I wish I wouldn't have bought him, and I got him on sale with a gift card.

I agree for Sanndstorm. He's so marvelous! Springer only appeared once at my local TrU so I had to get mine from BBTS (on clearance, lucky me!) Having springer in hand, it confirm that Sandstorem is the best of the two. However, it's like saying that Chocolate pie is tastier than apple pie. Both are pie, both are marvelous, but I prefer one over the other.

As for Skids, he was not bad. Just, hmmmm'kay.

I agree Skids/Cross Cut is not the greatest.
I knew what I was getting into but, his shoulder situation really irked me anyway.
After the 3rd or 4th time through the transformation I realized you have to pull out on his shoulders which gives him better range of motion. The instructions don't really illustrate this step. Made it a little better.
Did everybody already know this?
Am I a ding dong for not getting this on the first go?
Re: Generations Arcee Variant (1620981)
Posted by SW's SilverHammer on November 10th, 2014 @ 8:31pm CST
The skids mold isn't bad at all so long as you know how to work it. The limited shoulders aren't bad so long as you pull the shoulders all the way out, and know how to properly articulate them. The missile spam, nor the shoulder cannons get in the way, as they all compress and fold away; it's just the car chunks that bang into things. The wrist guns do get a bit intrusive, but they aren't bad, they're geared to each other so they wont flop around no matter which way you have them. The Lower legs are another point of contention, as most have trouble balancing the toy despite the hard core Milne feet. The reason for that is the center balance. It not back heavy, it's actually top heavy, and the way to alleviate that is by bending the lower legs all the way forward, and bending the knees a click or two back (seeing as they have those faux plastic ratchets). It's not chicken legged all that much it forms a much more Transformers animated S curve/stance if that makes sense. The skids mold if handled well is a very fine figure, IMHO, mostly because it's very expressive, mostly because of the Hardcore Milne head on Skids. However I would Recommend Generations crosscut instead. Some of the plastic tolerance issues are solved with him, he's even more expressive because of his face plate, and the black, yellow, and the metallic candy apple red really pop, compared to the mostly red and silver details on bright as bright blue.

The playability might be there but they really look like crap in combiner mode. Especially Menasor. Being the proud owner of Uranus and Intimidator, I cant really see taking these figures seriously. Ill buy them to display in team modes.

These designers are like gods.

Superion and Menasor look so good, can't wait to get them!

Totally disagree with Rated X, as usual. You need to adjust your scale bro, either it's magnificent or crap. If these are crap, what do you think about energon combiners or power core combiners?
