If anyone is curious about the Magnificus name, it comes from his backstory being similar to Maximus' from Gladiator. And here is Tonyteo's quick review of the toy he got:
I'm the one bought and reviewed it. It sucks, it is exactly the same as SS86 Perceptor with a same gun, just different color and headscuplt. It is not even a figure from Shattered Glass line.

Thank Tony. Even though the toy sucks, could you take more photos of it, at various angles, and showing the new face well along with the same gun? I'm sure fans would appreciate that.

This guy is supposed to be a gladiator? Uh. Okay. I guess he has a "tank" mode, but still.

One of the practices during FunPub's run of Shattered Glass is repurposing lesser known figures from regular lines as SG characters, ignoring whatever faction symbol or its color is. Magnificus as SG Perceptor is one of those.

That's not a Shattered Glass version. He's just a Decepticon. SG Perceptor is the same color with an Autobot logo and a face. And I agree, it doesn't suck. The guy got a figure that may or may not even be released and he ONLY paid double a SS86 version.

SG Perceptor actually has the SAME head as Magnificus! The original FunPub version anyway.
The only difference between SG Perceptor and Magnificus was Purple Autobot insignias instead of Decepticon.

It’s not shattered glass. It’s not intended to be shattered glass. Tfw2005 needs to stop saying it MIGHT be. It’s not.

I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me.
There was also that 2010 Perceptor redeco for Generations, with the alternate head:
Transformers Generations Magnificus Gallery
But yeah, people were hoping for SG Perceptor more, or something that officially pulls double duty.

I don't even think that people were hoping for it, I think it's just the fact that the figure's existence leaked as "SG Perceptor" and that it's still in the thread name that's causing confusion.Jelze Bunnycat wrote:Immortal Starscream wrote:I am confused about the confusions over this guy being a Decepticon. The tank mode is wrong and it's very noticeable because what we have is not a tank, it's the mobile telescope (another one of the modes). So it can only recreate 3 of the microchange modes, not all four. And the tank mode was the main mold that interacted with the microchange figures.
Also, your post was removed. I was very clear, no more tealeaf/thief crap mentioned here. NONE. Do it one more time and you are gone. I will take no replies or further discussion to this.

LOL. Funny post - and I agree. I don't care if it turns into a tank, either - but for Magnificus it's part of it and it does that so I still don't see what the big deal is.

I agree. I'm more miffed that Ga'mede wasnt included. If I get this, I might repaint a spare Targetmaster as him and add more noticeable silvery metallic paint to his bits that would have them, instead of the possible "matte" styled effect Perceptor had.

I'm honestly surprised HasTak didn't make a Magnificus during Titans Return - they could've definitely made the headmaster component Ga'mede.
I do hope there's maaaaayyybe something else included with the package? I would find it funny and also interesting if they retooled a Joe figure into him.

No, it's perfectly fine as is. I don't know why anyone is whining about it not looking like a tank. It looks perfectly like a tank to me.
You can easily see it in the comparison picture below, which has now been reuploaded for the FOURTH time, but if there's a will, there's always a way, eh readers?

I believe this has already been mentioned before in this thread? Still, great minds think alike!

I Would still be likely to get this, as I still think it looks great, but I also hope it comes with Purple Targetmaster, or. Maybe even a recolored Daniel Powersuit?

We'll see, I'm quite curious for the full reveal now. As for the tank mode, it doesn't require much. The knobs on the arms just have to be removeable like the G1 toy for the the tank base to be flush against the ground. Of course, wheels would help sell it even more and I don't think they would have been too obtrusive to remove from the G1 accuracy. Would have increased the budget though, for sure.

Still very nice of them to add the molded treads, through.
Still, I think a really big shame is if they don't include some form of representation for poor ol' Ga'mede though.

One of them is completely flat to the ground, that's the tank mode. Only the original figure has been designed in such a way to properly achieve it.
One of them is angled upwards, that is the mortar cannon/"mobile lab" mode. The TR and SS86 Perceptor molds are designed to do that mode, but they call it "tank" mode.
The picture that you've reuploaded of the FOURTH time shows G1/eHobby Magnificus in tank mode, and new Legacy/Selects/who knows Magnificus in mortar cannon/"mobile lab" mode.
Is everyone on the same page now?

It could be argued that the version below is a compromise between the tank and mortar cannon modes. It's not exactly the same as the G1 version, but I stand by my original comment. It looks fine as-is. Thus, the tank mode isn't really a problem.

Nope there's two reasons it can't achieve the tank mode properly, the hinges for the scope stick out enough from his back such that if flat they touch the ground before his legs and the knobs on his arms.... We're unfortunately molded on.

Same here. I’m glad PrimevsPrime knows how to properly show off a figure as opposed to pictures that are too zoomed in to properly see the thing as a whole.

Both leaks and the comic solicitations say that Soundwave is the 5th SG figure, yes. This should be released as Magnificus, NOT SG Perceptor, hence the on his torso and scope. Under what release method/line, who knows, I'm betting on Selects or Buzzworthy.o.supreme wrote:So, is this for sure a SG release and not Selects? I'm leaning towards buzzworthy at the moment just because of how quiet the Selects line has been. Wonder if we'll get an explanation at pulsecon in a few weeks time. Could this be the pulsecon Exclusive?

Alpha Trion / Orion Pax is the Pulsecon exclusive I thought.
