Those energon lines will wreck havoc on the vehicle mode.

[edit} Huh.not as bad as I thought. The black bumper sections though #-o

I don't like the pink. Not one bit.

I'm happy for Japanese fans who have been waiting for this mold, and for IDW fans that love the IDW molds painted in comic accurate colors and details, but you know what? I'm FINE with the Hasbro release this time.

I'm happy enough with Hasbro's. If this had been a more G1 toy deco, I might have bitten.

Not bad but honestly I don't mind the Hasbro domestic version. The sculpt alone is enough to be IDW skids without having to have a 100% accurate deco.

I'm actually a little surprised... I just sort of assumed Japan had received their Skids already.

That said, I'm satisfied with Hasbro's like everyone else he so far. The pink highlights clash with the rest I of the color scheme and the paint just can't quite capture the look of the glowing bits. Takara's WFC and FoC figures had the same problem IMHO.

Yeah, they should've just all been leader class figures with fiber-optics running along their bodies :-P

I think that takara's pink highlights on the FOC figures works better because there are outlines and details meant reflect the energon glow. They were just left unpainted in the north american domestic release.

Same. This looks lovely and I'm tempted but I could save a lot just getting the reprolables to give him those accents. It is very nice though.

Now Jhiaxus on the other hand, even if it's an ehobby like drift I'll pay that price for G2 colors

I share the same feelings. Though I do like the black constrasting against the missile pods. The fact that it will be 2-3 years between the Hasbro and Takara version gives those who couldnt get or dont have the Hasbro one another chance to get this mold/character, so thats awesome!

Ha! I hope it wouldn't take that much! :-D

I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining about what they didn't do, but just observe what they might not be able to do. I'm just not convinced they can get paint that looks like that kind of glow (and not...you know...paint), at least not within even Takara's higher budget guidelines.

I should have mentioned that my Hasbro figure is Reprolabled. The foil decals do a fairly good job, since they have a patterned design and the reflectiveness "lights" them, but that's not something I'd automatically expect or demand from Hasbro or Takara.

Now, if you all will excuse me, I'm off to search my soul for why I think pink stripes on blue and red is ugly, yet enjoy Jhihaxus' orange deco.

The pink makes him look a bit like the old Skram toy. I like it! I actually never got Hasbro's Skids, just Crosscut, so I might have to pick this version up.

edit: Definite buy. The more I look at it the more I want it. Now!

I don't think it's that hideous.

And why can't anyone just simply just say the pink is ugly or awful without going into awful exaggerations?

Got my preorder all set! I really can't wait for this figure. I usually wouldn't think of paying that much for a deluxe but I really want this guy. The colors are just gorgeous. Initially I wasn't impressed with the mold when I bought Hasbro Crosscut until I figured out he did actually have some shoulder articulation. And the fact you can hide most of his weaponry pretty easily so he doesn't always have to look like an insane commando. Legs are a bit fiddly for my tastes but I can live with it. :KREMZEEK:

Not only will this be my very first Takara fig, but it's also my first preorder. Though I'll probably be preordering the Onslaught/Skylynx box soon as well.

Justa question, why do people get him at BBTS for 30$ plus shipping when you can get him sooner from Japan for cheaper, shipping included?

In both cases you are ordering online in english using paypal. The only thing I can think of is ease of mind if something goes wrong. Of course, if its sold out in japan, than BBTS is a good place to go, but I am still wondering why it would be a go to place. And other places in japan have pile of loot systems but obviously dont sell hasbro products so I guess its because people can get both there. Still, I am unsure if most people simply dont buy from japan due to simply not knowing and thinking it could be harder, withut realising the potential massive savings.

Any colector here can quickly tell you the hundres bucks they probably saved last year from getting their takara products from japan.

Ignorance on my part. I didnt know it was available that way as I've never ordered from Japan before, and I didnt really do any research.

Well, I don't use paypal, but they are only 6 hours north of me, so it's just a 4 day wait for most of my stuff; also they have excellent customer service and exchange policies, I like to have a backup plan in case something goes sideways, plus I like to support them for what they do. While it's a shame they don't have a point system, I like them. But, since I don't order much TT stuff, it's not an issue yet...

Cool, I understand. One thing though, when I mentionned getting them quicker I wasnt referring to how long it takes from bbts to one's house but from Japan to BBTS then to you. Because Takara doesnt deal directly with BBTS, they contractually cant. So BBTS has a shipment sent from japan at the same time as any importer including you and me. Which means I would get a takra toy at the same time they get it. They would then have to ship it to you. BBTS is just an extra middleman and thus, it will always be slower, but probably not by much.

I used to have it really sweet with TFSource, up until this past summer or so. I live in the suburbs of St. Paul, and their warehouse is/was located about a half hour north of me (if you drive at the speed limit) in Forest Lake. Sometimes, I could go up and pick up an order without having to wait for it to be shipped out. When I did have to wait for shipping, it would take ONE DAY to get to me, so the wait was never that bad. A few times I did have to exchange defective products as well, and being able to do so in person and get satisfaction almost immediately was terrific. However, they have a new warehouse in NEVADA that handles all the new Transformers products. Their Forest Lake, MN office still warehouses "vintage" toys, and I can still meet with someone their for business stuff, like selling off some figures, but when my stack is shipped, it's over a week before I see my figures. It might be more expensive, but their are (or were) a lot of perks for me with TFSource. At least now they got rid of the "freebies" system for points and will just convert points for purchases into store credit. That's much appreciated.

Whats the conversion rate? 1 point = $1? I've been thinking about switching to them exclusively, but wasn't sure what the point ratio was...

Ha! I WISH! No, the conversion is $0.015 (1.5 cents) per point. To give you an idea of how much you "get back" per purchase, something like MP-27 Ironhide with collectors coin, priced at $99.00, would get you about 95 points, or about $1.42.

What, you too? I'm west side Jake! (West side of the Twin Cities.)

To WJ88 question on ordering from BBTS, I trust them implicitly, have been doing business with them for a very long time, they treat me and my stuff very well, have a POL feature I love. I buy enough stuff to make the POL the main selling point.

Oh, and once I figured out how to properly transform Skids's legs, he was, indeed, very awesome!

Not on topic or anything, just wanted to say what's up to a fellow Jake from MN!

What, you too? I'm west side Jake! (West side of the Twin Cities.)

I call pack Alpha!

And no, we're NOT a conspiracy. That's ravens, not canines. (Yes, a group of ravens is called a conspiracy).

It's the same with me and TFSource. They once gave me an impromptu tour of their facility when I picked up an order with my boyfriend, just because. They're very nice people. :)

Nah, since a murder is a flock of crows. They could plan on taking down a parliament (a flock of owls) however

Ok, enough off-topic banter. Back to Skids.

... I think he looks decent enough. Will he have the misassembled legs?
