The Transformers Collectors' Club brings the Humans!
Fort Worth, TX - August 14th, 2014 - Fun Publications, Inc., licensee for Hasbro's official Transformers Collectors' Club, is excited to announce their first ever 3 ¾ inch human figure from the Transformers mythos… Marissa Faireborn!
Fans of the Transformers franchise will recognize Marissa as the Earth Defense Command (EDC) pilot from season 3 of the original Transformers cartoon. What G.I. Joe fans will recognize is the name, “Faireborn”. As Season 3 of the Transformers series took place a couple decades AFTER G.I. Joe, this crossover character was in fact, as intended by Story Editor Flint Dille who worked on both Transformers and G.I Joe, the daughter of G.I. Joe members Flint and Lady Jaye!
In addition to this great action figure offering, Marissa will also be riding in to action with her Autobot ally, Afterburner! Both will be revealed tomorrow on the Transformers Collectors' Club Facebook page. However, in the meantime we are thrilled to present the art for Marissa Faireborn w/ Afterburner by Robert Q. Atkins and Jesse Wittenrich.
This figure, along with the motorcycle accessory, will be available for order through the Transformers Collectors' Club early Spring 2015. For more information on the exclusive figure offerings of the TCC, including Lio Convoy, Nova Prime and the TFSS 3.0, please visit Transformersclub.com.

As many fans have guessed, the exclusive is GI Joe-related, but not in the way one would expect. The second Club exclusive is... Marissa Faireborn with Afterburner! No mock-up images as of the writing of this post, but according to the Club, Afterburner is a redeco of the GI Joe Wheel Blaster Bike from the GI Joe line in 2012 done up in the colors of the original Generation One Autobot of the same name.

Cool, and in line with the Joe SDCC exclusives, but unless we get Afterburner out of the Chromia mold, I'm not interested. (And yes, I know they already listed a non-transforming prop vehicle fpr the gig... hence my lack of interest)

More so given they seem to be forcing a crossover I've never wanted down our throats. I can see where this is leading, to get the full "set" you'll have to join the G.I. Joe club as well.
Smart move ... but nope.

What will be the base figure for Marissa? Barones?

Don't think you will. It will be a set available to both groups.
JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:So, basically it's like the SDCC G.I. Joe Crossover sets only on a smaller scale. Interesting, but the main draw to TF fans is Marissa and the deco of the bike.

Plenty of options for them to use. Baroness, Scarlett, Lady Jaye, and Bombstrike, as well as, Cover Girl and Quarrel have all been done recently. Edit: forgot Helix, and Jinx too. I'm pretty sure they can parts together a nifty EDC fig from those.
I was hoping for a transforming Afterburner. Are the Technobots on Hasbros radar? Probably not in the near future.

As long as they don't make an actual Transformer a G. I. Joe club exclusive, I don't care.

So, you were annoyed that you'd have to be part of both clubs to get a full set, and now you're annoyed that this isn't the case? Just no pleasing some people.

When it comes to me and FunPub? No, there isn't.
The only decent thing they've done in recent years is Runabout and Runamuck. Nothing else has really interested me (except Scorponok, but I couldn't afford him anyway) and their business sense is rather lacking.

How come every time a TF/Joe crossover is done in the real world with plastic they leave out the Transformer?

Because scale. Ther are no TFs big enough to scale with the current GIJoe line of figures, and in the case of the crossovers, the humans are most important.
The only truly fair way to do it would be to use the HUman Alliance figures, but then the humans come out too small to be cross-compatible for GI Joe.
And smeone could prove me wrong, but I think the bike figures, Arcee, Wreck Gar, etc. are all too big. Chromia might not because of the enclosed cockpit, but she's not available. Heck, even the Energon Highwire w/Kicker was a frikkin' huge bike.

Lazy? We're getting this on top of a membership incentive figure, a Club store figure, six Subscription Service figures, and a seventh bonus Subscription Service figure. How in the world can anyone call them giving us TEN exclusives outside of BotCon "lazy"? This is their biggest number of offerings they've ever given us, and this particular figure is pretty much exactly what many were expecting to get out of it, plus the bike toy.Burn wrote:Tigertrack wrote:Don't think you will. I guess using Joe toy molds might have some appeal to the Joe fans, but I'd be willing to bet that anyone whoever had any interest in owning an action figure of Marissa Faireborn was a TF fan above all else.
After all, there was that one other (unofficial) convention that had a figure of G.B. Blackrock for its exclusive one year, and that was made from a figure of DC's Commissioner Gordon, yet I highly doubt there were any DC fans who wanted it for any DC appeal over TF appeal.

Well, in-fiction she has ties to G.I. Joe as two members were her parents: Flint and Lady Jaye as explained in the news story.
Speaking of fiction, which branch of the G1 fiction would she belong to?

Yes but that was more of an in-joke in the beginning that was only later spelled out in a serious, official manner.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Well, in-fiction she has ties to G.I. Joe as two members were her parents: Flint and Lady Jaye as explained in the news story.
She came from the G1 cartoon, which she looks modeled after here, so I would assume that she's supposed to be the G1 cartoon version (until Fun Pub states otherwise).JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Speaking of fiction, which branch of the G1 fiction would she belong to?

Actually I meant tf prime legends arcee. I would think any mold could be for the right so it can make money rather than collect dust in some chinese Warehouse. The club did start using off screen movieverse molds to make spinister, octopunch, and machine wars sandstorm. Change the paint colors and it isnt megan fox anymore. Its not like its a GM car or something. Its a mini doll.
Posted by Sabrblade on August 14th, 2014 @ 6:41pm CDT
Ah, that make more sense. Though, the Club seems to prefer using more substantial figures like Deluxes and up, and the Legends Prime Arcee would be too small for a Human Alliance human figure since the HA line made some motorcycle toys for their human figures to ride (Jazz's gun, Arcee, Chromia, etc.) that were much bigger than Legends; closer to Scout sized even.Rated X wrote:Actually I meant tf prime legends arcee.
Offscreen movieverse molds are fine, so long as they aren't designs owned by Paramount. The HA Mikaela mold is not only Paramount-owned but sculpted in Megan Fox's image. For a very limited production figure release, the Club would likely spend more money trying to get the mold to make the figure than they would earn from selling the figure.Rated X wrote:I would think any mold could be for the right so it can make money rather than collect dust in some chinese Warehouse. Nay, good sir (or ma'am, not sure ), for if one were to carefully and strategically eradicate any and all elemental traces of gross/skeevy material from the Kiss Player fiction, one would see that it does contain two very intriguing storylines. One involving the EDC leading an anti-Transformers propaganda and hunting down the Cybertronian TFs with manmade TF drone soldier (before the concept fell into overuse a few years later), and one involving Unicron's servants leading the protagonists on a multiverse-spanning journey that results in Primus battling Unicron on prehistoric Earth and sealing him away, planting the seeds for events to come in both Car Robots, Beast Wars II, and Beast Wars Neo.Skywarp64 wrote:fenrir72 wrote:Will she be as kawaii as Marissa in KISS Players?

Sabrblade is always 99.98% right when it comes to TF lore. KISS Players had a pretty good storyline ( ecchi references aside...........aside from the tentacles and half naked girls getting eaten up, let's say compare that to the story line of ROTF and the over emphasizing Megan Fox's frame of the motor cycle scene, which one would you prefer?)
The trouble is, a lot of people fixated on the girls and the tentacles not not the core story.

Can't access any of the molds sculpted to look like actors, that's for sure. Well they could if they wanted to fund a new head sculpt, but since cutting a tooling for a head is pretty much the same regardless of size, I'm pretty sure Fun Pub would prefer to fund a Deluxe or Voyager head sculpt rather than a Human Alliance head.
And in response to the questionable resemblance of the figure to its actress, he said:
Right. But that doesn't matter in the paperwork. It could be a blob with a smiley face etched in it (which some of the HA aren't far from) but if Hasbro said that it's supposed to represent an actor that's all that counts.
So, yeah, if they wanted to use the Human Alliance Mikaela, they'd have to give it a new head, which would partly defeat the purpose of using it for Marissa Faireborn in the first place. And giving it a new head would cost about as much as it would to give a Deluxe or larger figure a new head, so it'd be hardly even worth the effort.

Though, it is a rather tiny image compared to this one:
Not to mention that this is no different from those SDCC Joe/TF crossover sets that had non-transforming Joe/Cobra vehicles as Starscream, Shockwave, Hound, and Jetfire. At least this one has some fictional precedence by teaming Afterburner up with Marissa, rather than being done just for fun like the others were.Super Megatron wrote:Dead Metal wrote:That looks pretty good. Neither is SDCC Hound, SDCC Jetfire, or SDCC Shockwave. The bike is painted to resemble Afterburner in vehicle mode. It just doesn't transform. A vehicle mode actionmaster, if you will.
And as mentioned, the Technobots were working with Marissa and the EDC during that episode with Dirk and Quintessons,
