The first Transformers The Last Knight panel, during the day on Saturday September 9th, 2017, starred Mark Wahlberg, Isabela Moner, Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and Executive Producer/Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner. The 2nd panel, held later that night during the Transformers VIP event, switched Brian Goldner with legendary Transformers voice actors Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) and Frank Welker (Megatron). We've collated both together in the clip below, as they discuss the cast, working with director Michael Bay, the choices and realities of working on a project this big, in this scale, and of this relevance to popular culture (despite final results, of course), and the importance and difficulty of creating sequels in a franchise. When Welker and Cullen take their place, on the other hand, we get some more insight into the dynamic between them as actors and their characters since the early stages of their career and a lot of voices seasoning the interview too. Check it out!

You mean how Stanley Tucci played Joshua Joyce last movie and Merlin in this one? They'd already done that before with Glenn Morshower playing Colonel Sharp (who got killed) in the first movie and then General Morshower in all the sequels minus AOE.noctorro wrote:That actor shouldn't have different roles in the same movie series, I can't believe they did that.

I've seen TV series do that. Jeffrey Combs played several roles in Deep Space Nine.

Those too! I will say though, it's very bizarre - but also very heartwarming now I know he was a huge fan of the series - to go back and watch Capaldi in Fires of Pompeii after 4 years of him as The Doctor.
Now, naturally, as I've said; this can be done convincingly - but other times not. So this begs the question since I haven't actually seen TLK; how different was this actor's new role and did he pull it off well enough that you didn't think he was the same guy?

Minor bits, yes, but there's no real good reason that they should be missing at all.

While the contest only features characters from the live action films, it's still enjoyable to make sure your favorite 'bot gets to the top!
It's run using a bracket system, and voting for the first round for the Autobot side has already ended, but the livestreams for Round 1 on the Decepticon side will begin approximately 16 hours from the time of writing.
See the website for the current bracket here, and make sure to keep an eye on the facebook page, here!

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

The article is worth checking out for the concept art pieces alone, but it offers insight into the special features of the discs too as a refresher.

My theory is that Optimus would have returned to Cybertron after TF4 and would have been force to fight in a gladiator arena.

Since this is the only new thing I'm going to post some of the other Knight's of Iacon concept art.
The leader Knight which inspired the toy of Stormreign who is one half of Leader Dragonstorm, beside being red he doesn't look like this much in the actual movie.
This is one of the "generic" ones with a unused helmet design that seems to have inspired Drgonicus the other half of leader Dragonstorm
Cool helmet guy who basically looks like this in the film besides maybe some minor differences.
Don't think this design was in the film but he looks cool.
Helmet for many knights such as the small green Talisman knight from the beginning of the movie.
A Samurai knight (From Josh Nizzi instead of Furio) interestingly enough it seems like the shoulder armor inspired the red knight's shoulder armor in the movie which is pretty much the only unique thing about him in the movie besides his armor color
This one was one of many rough sketches from Wesley Burt not sure if anything about this is in the final designs but he looks cool and kinda looks like he could of been one of the many other Knights outside the main 12 (Green knight, Skullitron) maybe an Alpha Trion type.
Here is a screenshot of some of the final knights for comparison.

That screenshot from the movie takes place during the modern day and not the past, the guy ain't Scorn.
The Knights are said to be 12 guys and not including green knight who is established to be seperate 3 were killed yet they still become Dragonstorm so I believe that you don't need all 12 to form him especially how they transform into him "ksi" style.
Plus knights of Iacon are not the same knights that The Dinobots and Prime are part of.
I don't see how any one thinks he is Scorn since the only things they share are red armor and even then in different shades their also different heights that's like thinking Canopy is Bumblebee just because their both yellow...oh wait people did think that.

I mean speaking from a rational point of view, in terms of the intent of the movie itself, he's just a generic character who was never intended to be anyone or ever appear or matter again. Outside of that and especially from a toy design perspective, I can definitely see him inspiring/being inspired by Scorn, particularly the new Voyager toy. Check it (embedding this again for the second time in three posts, sure why not):
Those shoulders seem pretty distinctly Scorn-like to me, I can see where the wide semi-rectangular chest became/came from Scorn's toy(s), the hip-armor is very similar in general design, long pointy crotch-armor, general shape of the calves and the pointy-toed boots (albeit not pointing upward like Scorn's). I could even see where those pointy bits on either side of the helmet's chin could've become Voyager Scorn's weird dumb Kronk chin.
Personally what I think is most likely, is the following: Hasbro wanted to make a toy of the red knight because they thought it'd be somewhat marketable (and let's be honest, if they decided to make multiple Berserker toys but nothing of say, Onslaught, they're not exactly basing their decisions on screentime here). They didn't have an altmode or really anything definite so they noticed the concept art's similarities to Scorn, decided that'd work, slapped some dino kibble on the concept-art guy, gave him a half-melted version of Scorn's head and called it a day. Makes more sense than Scorn getting a Voyager-class toy for literally no reason, especially one that's still red when all the other Dinobot toys were toned-down silvers, browns and blues.
But hey what do I know, I'm just some guy with too much spare time to overthink things and way too many toys
Posted by Insurgent on September 21st, 2017 @ 5:48am CDT
Oh well. Would have been a nice talking point.
How do we know they are two different Knights? What are the Dinobots and Prime from then?
Canopy is yellow? It's like the reverse G1 Constructicons. Haha. I always see them as yellow, and I thought Canopy was green.
Yes, I can totally see Red Knight being a Pre-Dino Scorn. Thank you for putting in words what I was seeing, with the design cues. And we don't know when he got his dino mode. Yes, he is intended to be generic Red Knight and nothing more, but sometimes, it's fun to make theories up about random stuff. After all, why else would we be on a discussion forum?

Totally agreed - discussion is the root of all... something. Knowledge? Entertainment? I really should've planned my pithy saying in advance...
(I'm also probably gonna headcanon red-knight-dudeman as Scorn even if it doesn't quite make sense, 'cause I like the idea and hell, the movies themselves don't always make a lotta sense either )

Not only does this not make sense its impossible in canon.
Posted by Insurgent on September 21st, 2017 @ 6:22am CDT
That's why we didn't see him in the Junkyard! After he escaped Lockdown's ship, he decided to bugger off and find his knightly bretherin. And knowing where Merlin's tomb was, he went off to investigate and when he got there, formatted himself back to his non dino mode. And went into slumber so he could honour his brothers in arms by staying by their side.
Grimlock never got on with his other knights and didn't care, so stayed behind with Cade because free food. Slug went off to tour the world with Strafe but they had a lovers tiff over the true parentage of the baby dinobots and split up. Slug was making his way back to the Junkyard when the Decepticons attacked. That's why he randomly appeared briefly there, but he didn't know where everyone ran off to, as the town trap was established after they left. So he just went to the junkyard and hung out with Trench for the rest of the film. Strafe heard good things about Isla Nublar so flew off to see what that place was like.
This is why I don't talk much on these forums lately. Everyone seems to be taking this hobby far too seriously. So I'm putting some of the silly fun back in.
became a titan with his own individual dino mode and lost his arm before shrinking down and completely changing armor before going to slumber in the underwater ship with the Iacon knights instead of waking up his comrades then waking up and trying to kill optimus even though he fought with him before?
Size change = mass shifting. It's a thing that happens in this franchise.
Missing arm = nope. Just his dino kibble turned his arm into his tail lance, like BW Megatron. We just never saw him take his lance off in the film.
Slumber = He wanted to honour them and help them protect Merlin. So no, he didn't wake them up.
Optimus = Optimus came back and betrayed them. So yes, he saw that as a betrayal and now tried to kill him. Just like Grimlock fough against him, then with him. People can easily be fighting with someone and then a few years later, fight against them because they see them as betraying them. Especially when Prime turned up and killed knights.
Posted by Kurona on September 21st, 2017 @ 6:48am CDT
I'd personally say screw that and just roll with the overall silliness of the franchise, but hey, what you gonna do.

It's not like I'm saying it makes perfect sense or anything; heck, it's hardly based on anything aside from a few superficial design similarities and my own sense of fun. I can't speak for Insurgent necessarily, but I'm not proposing a genuine theory, more like having some fun with a very tenuous character connection.
Many things are impossible in canon, including but not limited to:Deadput wrote:Not only does this not make sense its impossible in canon.
- - Bumblebee being unable to speak despite having his voicebox repaired in the first movie (and then subsequently being able to speak later in the film despite having earlier ripped his own voicebox out)
- Starscream's head turning up, intact, 530 miles from the site of his death-by-exploding-head
- The Transformers being created by Quintessa as opposed to the work of the Allspark Cube
- Barricade being alive
Posted by Insurgent on September 21st, 2017 @ 9:03am CDT
The fact my rambling ends with Strafe going off to Jurrasic Park should be a giveaway. Hahaha. Anyway, I've made a thread for such sillyness.
Barricade being alive is not an issue. We saw his eyes and feet explode in DOTM, but never saw him die. And his eyes getting shot out makes sense for why now he has 4 eyes. Backup eyes!
Starscream's head turning up miles away isn't an issue. It's how it got fixed. We saw scrap is being scavanged, it's not unreasonable to assume someone recovered it and took it away, and Daytrader aquired it from that person. After all, Sentinel and Megatron's heads were recovered.
Lockdown made comments about the allspark thing. He asked Prime "You think you were born? You were bult! And your creator wants you back."
I just assume Quintessa used the Allspark to create Cybertron and give birth to Transformers. But in the eons since, Quintessa was lost to legend, but the Allspark remaind as that was a physical object and the Transformers started believing they were just born of the Allspark.
And now the Allspark is gone, Quintessa can't rebuild Cybertron properly, which is why it looks like melted cheese stretched between too much toast.

Barricade's always had four eyes, but it could explain why he has two blue eyes in TLK besides being a police light bar homage. Looking at that scene Barricade only gets shot twice so maybe he was only half blind and still had two optics left.
