Join the Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast consisting of your host ScottyP along with Kuhlio, Aaarnhide19 and Mr. Starscream as they discuss and extrapolate on the literal deluge of Transformers leaks for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. "40 for 40" reaches the year 2001, new toys have shown up with no prior official reveal and even Hot Wheels hit the topic list. Yes, Hot Wheels.
Episode #344 “Journey to the Pegs” is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on Apple Podcasts and many other Podcatcher sites within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.
Here's what we discuss in this episode:
- The show opens with some colorful banter about non-transformers super robot anime and of course, a deep esoteric discussion on the state of Hot Wheels collecting.
- A new core class figure? Discovered in store!? This is some big-game hunting indeed!
- It's raining Studio Series leaks for this and next year, but the big elephant in the room is the potential for a collect-a-figure combining Studio Series 86 Devastator as seen in The Transformers: The Movie. The cast generally prepares for extermination.
- There's more to talk about than just movie toys to discuss, as the Mayhem Attack Squad exclusive Amazon capsule starts to take shape before our very eyes. Some surprises for sure and the cast speculates on what these character 2-packs could really be and which might cause a Ruckus.
- Skybound's Transformers #5 gets some discussion time
- The everlasting 40 for 40 gets interesting as we round the millennium and find ourselves in the pivotal year, 2001. As the brand began to reshape into what we know it as today, the choices aren't quite as obvious anymore and a wider breadth of products become available and with them come more opinions.
- As always, we wind down a meaty discussion with bragging rights and Aaarnhide19 impresses everyone with his wide range of tastes and culture.

Definitely a comparison I'd thought about. A bit more OTT than IDW Rod, but the general energy is very similar.Emerje wrote:Heh, I somehow knew when the outline mentioned talk of a non-Transformers robot anime it would be Bravern. From the first episode I looked at the big guy as being a lot like IDW Hot Rod/Rodimus
Speaking of non-TF mecha, at some point in this ep I mentioned God Mars but what I meant was Albegas. Sorry to the 3 Albegas fans out there for the mistake.

From the first episode I looked at the big guy as being a lot like IDW Hot Rod/Rodimus, he's just so over the top while also somehow being the bot in charge and even turns into a hover car. Yeah, he's kinda gay for his pilot, but the show only takes itself half series. He project his logo behind him and plays his them song into battle, and makes life size models on a giant 3D printer, it's a really crazy show.

The twist from realistic military/Piloted Mecha anime to Super Robot (90's Brave feel) was great...But then...It just went way into left field. I have many questions, but unfortunately none of which I can ask without fear of backlash, so I just stopped watching.

No worries. Discotek is finally releasing this as SD on BRD.

Your penance is to watch all 45 episodes of "The Voltron that never was" and write a detailed report about it

I actually want to! ...after I finish up this pile of half-watched mecha discs beside the TV. Started Fafner and Pilot Candidate on CR and haven't finished those eithero.supreme wrote:

I feel ya. I have at least a couple dozen, maybe more, Super-Robot and other mecha series on DVD & BRD I haven't finished yet (some I haven't even started). I keep buying them because I enjoy that genre, but never seem to have time to finish any of them, . When I worked form home, I literally could have them as background noise in my bedroom TV...now that I'm back in the office, that's not an option .

I tried to do that with a couple shows but ended up watching them instead of working Had to make myself stop in a hurry. FOMO is real though, especially as someone that loves physical media. Spending $100+ for used DVDs of an OOP series is never fun :glares at Betterman:o.supreme wrote:ScottyP wrote:I actually want to! ...after I finish up this pile of half-watched mecha discs beside the TV. The struggle is real. I was the biggest fool. I actually had the Sentai Filmworks Blu Ray of Space Runaway Ideon. I sold it (because I needed funds), thinking I could get it back for around the same amount, or *hoping* it would be a re-release.... yeah fat chance.
Thankfully, I have several other OOP Super/RR series from Sentai Filmworks & Discotek (Blu Ray, and some SD on BRD) that are valued at hundreds of dollars in many cases. Not giving those up because the likelihood of them being released again is almost zero.
