This week, host Mike, and regular members Matt, Bob, Jon and Ryan continue our discussion of BotCon, started in last week's episode.
After getting up to speed with Ryan and Jon, we launch into the latest BotCon reveals:
Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus
Metalhawk
Shattered Glass Octopunch
What does the crew have to say about head molds? What did we say about the color schemes of this year's figures? What are our thoughts on molds used? Tune into the Twincast to find out!
Next up, we discuss the registration process. Find out our thoughts as well as listen in to find out who's going to the customizing class and what we think the figure may be.
Next, we discuss the recently revealed Transformers: Prime toys, although our full coverage of the main line will be in a future show.
Be sure to check out our full coverage of the UK launch of the main line, as well!
Finally, we discuss something very important out in the real world: SOPA and PIPA. On Wednesday, January 18th, 2012, Seibertron.com and many other large websites, including Reddit and Wikipedia, took part in a massive blackout to protest the US Goverment's proposed censorship and anti-piracy laws. See more about the topic in our extensive article. If you aren't familiar with these pieces of legislation, we recommend a few minutes of reading on these topics that could threaten your civil liberties!
We wrap up with some light-hearted bragging rights!
Stay tuned for another exciting episode of the Twincast/Podcast, and remember that Seibertron.com is your ultimate Transformers resource!

The Decepticon Pretender Stanglehold had a human head (and a scantly-clad human body).
Color Changers were Generation 2.
In addition to Keven Micheal Richardson, both Steve Blum and Frank Welker have also voiced a few Vehicons.
W-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-WHAT?! A review of the Japanese Collection DVD set? Oh, I am there! I am SO there!
I too am looking for a Japanese BW Metals Jaguar (Ravage) figure for a good price. Saw one at BotCon 2010, but it was out of my price range. Gonna be on the look out for one again at this year's BotCon. Any assistance would be appreciated.
It made the arguments sound more heated and chaotic than they probably were.Counterpunch wrote:Skype was badly behaved this time around. There may be some audio issues.

There's a direct link to the file on the RSS feed page. Click the "play now" link on that page under the podcast's heading and you'll get it.Insane Galvatron wrote:How does a person download the podcast who doesn't use itunes< or know a thing about RSS feeds? Got a direct link to the file?

I wonder if the botcon toy will look different once they are in hands.
Man,the third party was heated!I agree mostly with Seibertron on this.
Besides just because hasnt done a figure yet, doesnt mean they never will.
Could i see these Facebook pictures you guys have talked about?
About Sopa:
Did yo know in portuguese "Sopa" means soup and "Pipa" means kite?
People have rights to defend their copyright, but this isnt the way.

Nice show guys.

Great discussion on SOPA/PIPA. People need to understand what these bills would do to our fandom (and, you know, their other civil liberties too I guess). Although, given the 3rd Party discussion, I wonder how Hasbro feels about SOPA/PIPA.
Ryan, your bragging rights haul makes me green, lol. Nice catch on that black Lioconvoy. The regular original version is on my Botcon shopping list this year.

Uhm, I tried that. There is no "play now" link on the page for me. Is there supposed to be?

The running time of these things is killing my day though! But I love it.
Again good work.

It's the difference between the podcast with when there are 5 people and with 3 people, especially when you get me on there. I have a really hard time keeping my thoughts to a minimum on the podcasts which is part of why I choose not to be on them every time and prefer to have a "guest" status so that the other guys get their moment in the spotlight.

That's weird. On my phone ( which is the device I want to download the file ), its just a big block of coding with no "play now". On my tablet, it's as you describe. Both are android, so I wonder what gives? Still can't download on my phone unless someone posts the "play now" link in the thread for me. Cause it ain't showing for me on my phone.
**EDIT**
Here's a pic of my phone that I took with my tablet. This is what I see, and causes me not to be able to download the podcast.

Other people have had this issue. Let me talk with Ryan.

re: Battle Tanker. I'm not sure if it's really not as good or it's because it's an upgrade to such a shitty figure that it just doesn't seem as awesome. It does take an utter crap figure and make him pretty cool... CC and Protector had pretty good starting points, so it's not too much of a surprise that the end point is also better. Also doesn't hurt that it creates something that fills a pretty big hole in the Classics collection, where as how bad does anyone really need a Classics G2 Laser Prime? But I can say I like that figure now, and pretty much hated it before...

My thoughts on this are summed up in one very easy sentence. Before I say that remember the golden rule of Hasbro is TO SELL TOYS. It is what ultimately drives every aspect of the franchise. Keeping that in mind, as a transformers fan, MY golden rule and bottom line is TO BUY TOYS.
With that in mind, my ultimate interest as a collector (at least for me personally), is to have an accurate depiction of the cast of characters that I love. To me, the autobots and decepticons are bigger than Hasbro, despite them owning them. If I like a cover of a famous song more than the original song itself, I will listen to the cover. I think it is stupid to have any kind of unquestioning loyalty to any company. They get a whole lot of my money, but if a 3rd party does something better, you better believe I will take that over a first party product.
I actually DO hope that one day Hasbro can pump out the kind of stuff 3rd parties tackle. That way we can get amazing things without selling limbs to science O_o
Sorry for the long post!

Good question... Without really thinking about it, I usually tend to listen to these start to finish when possible and when they get to be 2+ hours that can be tough to do. But I suppose, what's forcing me to listen in one shot? This one I listened to about half last night and the other half this morning and it worked out pretty well. The only semi-pain there is noting where you leave off and picking it back up.
I guess my only criticism would be to maybe tighten up the bragging rights. I'm interested in what you guys get from the standpoint of if it's new, thoughts on the item. I don't care as much if you guys picked up that elusive first movie exclusive repaint on clearance for 'only' $80...although, admittedly, that is good info for those potentially interested in said crappy figure at a 'decent' price, and if it was about something I was actually interested in, I'd probably be glad for it if there were more available. So I dunno...there's good information to be had in there, it just seems to run a bit long sometimes.

They won't let me talk about my dolls, even when they're really pretty.

On a lark I started one like...last week, and have blazed through half of them. Great time killer at work. I'm learning a lot! Much appreciated.
I am also curious as to where an affordable Ravage X-9 can be found...

THe more the better. There is no fan community down my way (if there is I'm yet to discover it) so i enjoy listening to other peoples thoughts on my hobby instead of just reading comments. I think its a great thing that you guys do.

If there is a lot to be discussed then I welcome the longer editions. Especially since I do not have the time to read everything online (only the things which catch my eye). Everything else which I missed I usually learn in the Podcast. I do not know how most of you listen to the podcast but when I listen to it on my iPod it has the ability to play it twice the speed for those who think it is too long.
Like always, great show guys! It's entertaining when you guys make fun of Bob buying everything!

I thought about suggesting the same thing initially, but was trying to think if there was a way to still download it as a single file. If you had to instead download two or three separate files, you're just trading one mild inconvenience for another...

Longer episodes just mean you have to stop the podcast at some point and take a break. Or use the pause button. All tools that are easily accessible in iTunes or with any program or app that you are using to listen to this. Just have to take note how far into the episode you were when it stopped. Pretty simple!

Didn't realize you were on an Android device. I just checked with my phone and it has the same problem. If you look at the code that it displays, the link to download the file is in the code (look for ".mp3"). Why the Android browser isn't parsing the HTML, I don't know. I'll have to look into it next week ... this appears to be a problem with the Android browser, not with my code. Hopefully I can find a work around for it.

Since the problem seems to be isolated to a problem with the mobile browser not parsing the HTML in an RSS feed, I'd suggest the best way to resolve this problem would be to use an actual RSS app to parse the data. Have you installed an RSS app yet and tried the feed at http://www.seibertron.com/podcast/rss
