Thanks to our very own Nemesis Primal and TFW2005's own jtrprime, we have news that the Cyberverse ranks may be expanding even more.
As you might recall, the entire Maccadam wave was revealed a few weeks back, and among those figures was a brand new face, Thunderhowl. While we yet do not have any more images or pictures of Thunderhowl, we do have a new UPC code for the character. And surprisingly enough, along with Thunderhowl, we have another UPC code revealed, and this one is for a Cyberverse Skullcruncher!
Cyberverse has not provided us with a hint of a Skullcruncher joining the show or toy ranks so far, but we now have this UPC code that indicates that we may very well be getting a Skullcruncher. We will note that Skullcruncher's name is now spaced out to Skull Cruncher, probably to secure the trademark. The UPC's were located on the Walmart mobile app, and you can find them listed below.
We will keep an eye on the situation and let you know as soon as we get more news regarding a potential Skull Cruncher figure, as well as any and all Cyberverse news that might be coming!
UPC for Thunderhowl: 630509902583
UPC for Skull Cruncher: 630509902606

Agreed. I don't need another Prime or Megs, but Bee and Shockwave, whomever this new Thunderhowl is, are really tempting and I do want a Maccadam

And good news for Canadians, these have also been found in Canada now. Over at Cybertron.ca, we have a sighting from Matt McNally who found these figures at a Toys R Us in Burlington, Ontario.
Let us know what you think!

I havent found them locally yet but it would hurt a lot for sure. these are overpriced in canada at 29.99$. And thats before our higher sales tax (mine is 15%) and the rather pricey shipping. You'd be looking at 50-60 bucks a figure or more depending on how much someone wants to be paid for their efforts.

In the Battle for Cybertron subline we have Scout Classes: Ramjet and Dead End, each have an action attack and transform into a half way form like other Scout Class figures in the Cyberverse range.
Next we focus on the Warrior Class and aside from Soundwave (which appears to be a repack of his previous Cyberverse release), these are all part of the Bumblebee Cyberverse Adventures subline. Here we have a new version of Bumblebee himself, a black repaint of Hot Rod (but still called Hot Rod), a new version of Megatron with a double barreled Fusion Cannon and a mace firing feature (as seen on his scout class release). Then we have the aforementioned Soundwave.
Lastly we have images of Ultra Class Bumblebee, Hot Rod and Clobber. They are all sporting the Energon Armour gimmick.
What do you think of these new images? Anything tempting you to part with your money? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

Dead End's faceplate looks pretty cool. Too bad it lost its paint aps. Also too bad the figure's a typical Cyberverse Scout otherwise.
The "Cybertonian Mode" versions of Megs and Bee are pretty clearly retools of their original Warrior-Class toys, right down to having the same gimmicks. Also, I'm not entirely sure where these Cybertronian modes actually came from, given that when the cartoon had flashback scenes set on Cybertron, everyone just anachronistically had their Earth modes. Anyhow, Megatron's looks passable, but Bee looks less like a hovercar and more like they just forgot to give him wheels.
Hot Rod... They were doing so well at not reusing molds (other than Starscream's), and then they did this. Not only does the consensus seem to be that Hot Rod is one of the weakest Warrior designs of the line, but with the Ultra and Deluxe versions on the way, I really can't imagine this less-articulated version in show-inaccurate colors being anyone's first choice. I can't help but feel they could have made a better choice for the recolor, such as a darker version of Deadlock/Drift to evoke the color scheme of his first character model or a Smokescreen or Bluestreak (or Barricade) from Prowl.

I will start by saying this, while these deluxes are the same price point as a Studio Series and WFC deluxe they have as different from either of those as a Studio Series toy is from a WFC toy. It's a different feel and aesthetic. This review is for deluxe Megatron.
In terms of complexity, Megatron is as complex as you can get for a deluxe figure. He feels closer to the 2012 deluxe War for Cybertron (the videogame) Optimus Prime in terms of what the transformation entails. I tend to never look at instructions for Transformers, but with this toy there were some parts that were so unintuitive to anything I had played with before that I needed some directions. This is not a bad thing at all, instead it shows that after a myriad of tank Megatrons, the designers can still come up with fresh transformations. I am happy to finally get a good toy of this cool looking futuristic tank alt mode. It looks like a tank designed by Elon Musk.
The most interesting part of the transformation is how neat the tank parts compact into the robot's back without giving him too bad a backpack. It really feels like the ideal type of transformation to me, where you have the alt mode changing shape to form the robot's mass. That aspect feels a lot like the War for Cybertron (the videogame) deluxe Optimus I compared him to earlier.
The design is great too. This is a near spitting image of the Cyberverse design which itself was based on the Evergreen design that we all thought was awesome. The face is where the cartoony aspect comes in.
He comes with his arm cannon and 2 clear effect parts (along with the build a figure piece). The cannon can be placed in the classic manner on the robot arm but can also be handheld and it can also be held by both his hands to replicate the fusion blast effect from the Ultimate Megatron toy. The effects are both 3mm and 5mm compatible, so you can do whatever you want with them.
The part that differentiates this toy most from Studio Series or Siege, aside from the aesthetic and scale, are the joint types. While this is a very complex toy, the fact that this is still the kid cartoon line seems to honour the tradition of ball joints. They give great movement but they also make the toy feel very much like a toy. Limbs can be more easily removed if excessive force is applied (rather than breaking) and there can be some looseness. Mine can hold poses well, as you can see, but they do feel a bit loose depending on which direction you move the legs and arms. The ball joints do give him a lot of articulation though. He also have wrist, ankle and waist articulation.
Overall, I came for the design and stayed for the involved and new transformation. In terms of value, I feel we are getting something comparable to other deluxes asking the same price, like Siege Prowl, and that's before I consider the Build A Figure piece which I always feel should be a bonus and not something that influences the price. Here, it's more of an incentive to buy the whole line, which I am fine with.
People have been calling these small deluxes, but the size seems rather average to me, I will leave you with some comparisons.

I will start by saying this, while these deluxes are the same price point as a Studio Series and WFC deluxe they are as different from either of those as a Studio Series toy is from a WFC toy. It's a different feel and aesthetic. This review is for Optimus Prime. This toy is a third more expensive than the simplified warrior class Prime and it is twice as good. But that still doesn't say much and I will admit, while this is very much a traditional deluxe fans are accustomed to, I think it still falls a little short.
We've had deluxe Primes before, and this one won't join any of my top lists. While he is faaaar more articulated than the Prime we got in RID, his design is just the standard G1 Prime. You already know how the legs will transform. Then again, now that I think of it, when it comes to deluxe G1 Primes, this might be the best one. It's not like the competition is fierce. He isn't anywhere near as good as the WFC deluxe Prime we got from 2010 though, when just thinking about deluxe class Primes.
The robot mode is far better than the cab mode. While the cab mode is better than many recent primes (POTP or anything else from Cyberverse), it is still filled with gaps. The base of the cab mode is quite an eyesore with these protruding hinges that make it look like he has a snow plow attached.
The Transformation for his upper body is fine. The way they handle the front wheels folding away is something I found new for Prime and I do like the added step of the headlights folding away, but that's as far as it gets for ingenuity. At least there's no cheating with fake parts. It's a good looking robot mode though. The back is nice and neat with some nice added detail and weapon storage. His deco is great. There is a lot of minutia with the front of the truck and the feet. I also love that blue plastic for the legs. I would have really loved them to paint those forearm triangles yellow though.
I like that the chest opens to reveal the matrix and that you can use the effect part as either coming from his blaster or from his chest. Speaking of the effect part, it's compatible with other effects from Siege and even with 5mm holes.
In the end, he definitely deserves that deluxe label. Compared to Siege Prowl for instance, he has a as much if not more parts (Prime felt slightly more complex), more paint apps (though the amount of paint is probably the same), two combining effect parts and even a build a figure piece. We all paid a similar price for less than what we are getting here but small Optimus Prime toys were never really my bag and I don't think this one knocks it out of the park. I will leave you now with some size comparisons with other deluxe figures.

@Quantumsurge prime might off if they had plans to do voyager Class toys in this line but as they seem to be sticking to this size, you can't blame them for including a heavy hitter in the line up like Optimus and Megs.

These are either really freaky coincidences, or we're about to get an official Tarn figure that isn't $300.

Thanks, working on shockwave now. Usually, we don't news a review once we have our own but since a video review would indeed offer fans something worthwhile, we'll news it when one comes up. I do look forward to you seeing the transformation, it definitely stumped me, especially how the arms are supposed to be positioned. Usually with tank-formers, they go the easy way with either a H Tank with obvious limb placement or the type we've gotten with megs so far where the legs to at the bottom and the arms go on top (Siege Impactor is the latest to do that one). But this guy gives us something really new. Also, I found it pretty genius how they use the tank panels to cover up what would look like hollowness in the legs (something Impactor did not do).
Shockwave should be up soon.

I will start by saying this, while these deluxes are the same price point as a Studio Series and WFC deluxe they are as different from either of those as a Studio Series toy is from a WFC toy. It's a different feel and aesthetic. This review is for Shockwave. Now, right off the bat my first impression was that he was far less interesting than the other two, but there is a good reason for that: he already had a decent toy. Megatron and Optimus are both infinitely better than whatever else you can get in that scale in that line, but Shockwave had several good toys, in whatever scale you wanted. Unlike all other warrior class toys, his warrior figure did actually feel worthwhile. The fact that the spider tank needs him to have crucial articulation like knees and elbows made him leagues better than any other warrior figure.
So now we have this deluxe which costs a third more and the big question for me was, is he a third better? The short answer is objectively yes. As you will see in the images below, he is gorgeously painted on all sides, which really helps in the tank mode. He has way more articulation like ankles, head, waist and a wrist. He has lots of accessories, like a nicely painted gun (a way cooler gun than any other weapon to come with any deluxe this year), two clear effect parts that can combine and a removable clear plastic tube attached to a gun hand that you can insert above his hand. Meaning that unlike many other Shockwaves we got recently, you can give him either two hands or have one be a gun hand. So yeah, he has a lot more to offer. Oh yeah, he also comes with a leg to build Maccadam, but that's a bonus I will write about in another article.
In terms of complexity, objectively he has a lot of steps. He has more steps than the new Studio Series deluxe Soundwave (is also bigger and has more accessories) for instance, if anyone cares about value comparisons between two new toys that cost the same. But the conversion is nothing special. Not only because it's a very straightforward transformation due to how obvious the limb placement is, but also because it's the same transformation we got for the warrior Shockwave. It's more refined, of course, like now you completely replace robot hands with spider tank feet (adding 4 steps to the transformation per arm), but it's still the same brush strokes arriving at a similar alt mode.
Speaking of the alt mode, while the deco is way better than the previous toys we got for this designs (and I do like the front spider feet), I think the warrior looks better. The big cannon is more central while it's too far back on this deluxe. It makes the tank look more on the long side rather than being a more symmetrical X shape. Even though they go more out of their way to make the alt mode different than the robot mode, even so much as adding extra antenna for the tank face to differentiate it from the robot mode chest, the fact that the cannon is smaller makes it look more like the robot on all fours.
Speaking of the cannon, which also fits over the hand, the clear tube connected to it is rather rigid. So it isn't easy to pose. It will revert to whichever pose has it in a relaxed position. This really hurts poseability in robot mode since the gun arm will not keep a bent elbow due to the wire being rigid. Speaking of accessories, his effect parts are compatible with 3mm and 5 mm ports so you can use them for Siege figures too.
You can remove the tube and gun arm for robot mode and it still looks great. The deco helps a lot of course, and he has all the articulation you'd want, but my favourite part is the backpack. Not only can it serve as a place to post his cool gun when hes not using it, but the G1 callback is great. Especially the sculpted circle at the base of it.
In the end, he looks great, feels great and has some really nice accessories. Not a fan of the alt mode, but that is par for the course with Shockwave toys and I knew what I signed up for. He's worth a Siege deluxe price point, more so than I feel the Siege leader is worth his price point, so take that as you will. And now I will leave you with some size comparisons to other deluxe toys.
