We knew a repaint of the core class Volcanicus combiner as Dinoking would be coming, it was hinted at since day 1. But it's nice to finally have that listing though. As assumed, it will be released as one combiner and not individual components/dinos. The listing has it as a Pulsecon exclusive. Speaking of exclusives, we also have an update for Walmart's 2024 exclusive Legacy subline with the addition of deluxe Cannonball. Those listings were found by JTPrime17 along with a listing of a Target exclusive Optimus Prime toy styled in Target colours, the next GI Joe Transformer crossover figure and 2 more classic heroes figures, which are the Rescue Bots styled figures.

If anyone else besides me was holding out on this set in the vain hope for a decent Monstructor, there's an upgrade kit coming for the Volcanicus version that greatly improves it's appearance. To me, anyway. Not sure how the colors would mesh with the Dinoking colors, but here it is.

Just wait for the inevitable Dinoking-colored version. This company typically makes releases for each different-colored version of the figure it makes kits for.Brokebot wrote:If anyone else besides me was holding out on this set in the vain hope for a decent Monstructor, there's an upgrade kit coming for the Volcanicus version that greatly improves it's appearance. Did anyone have luck finding all 6 Dinobots at regular retail? It seemed like every Target around me somehow skipped the first pair, so I stopped caring when the other 4 showed up.
Maybe unrelated but stranger: for a week or 2, RotB Core Arcee was in every Target I checked, but apparently street dated and unpurchasable. Never, ever saw one after that, period, so IDK if fast-acting collectors pounced in every store right on said date?
Sorry if I'm asking something that's been common knowledge for months, but ever since Core Class became a thing, its distribution has seemed particularly odd. Was it just after-effects of all the pegwarming Shockwaves at the beginning? Never thought I'd be so glad to see such small TFs get rereleased at a higher price point.

I actually prefer the silver/gold primary colors of the Dinobots myself, so I'm not bothering with Dinoking. I do know that the upgrade kit I put on POTP Volcanicus really remade him into a far more impressive figure and made me regret missing out on upgrades for the other combiners.

I honestly didn't care about the set and didn't look for it until I spotted the upgrade. By that time, the only Transformer in the two Targets near me was Lego Optimus Prime. I wound up ordering them from https://www.agesthreeandup.com/ and https://tfsource.com/

Yes, cannonball out of crankcase or something would be great

Given the Sgt. Slaughter connection, I had my money on Grimlock.
Since Kup's schtick is being the oldest veteran Autobot on active duty, the first G.I.Joe counterpart that springs to mind would be ol' Joe Colton...but I don't think he's associated with any particular iconic vehicle, and my analogy doesn't make perfect sense...
...aaaaand now I can't stop picturing Kup in a wrestling match with Weirdwolf in some lost corner of Marvel continuity. Still debating getting into this X-over line.

I've had more luck finding core class at retail than any other class. For the dinos, the only one I have yet to see is Snarl.

Core Class has been a mess in my area, and both chains that stock them, Walmart and Target, each have the opposite problem: Walmart has older figures moving slowly (SS is stuck at Spike and Ravage, while Legacy is either clearanced out or stuck at Iguanus!!!) while Target is up to date but never seems to stock enough of them. I knew I missed out on Snarl, and the Slug and Sludge re-releases when I only found their final wave mate: the PR Optimus Prime Hopefully the holiday season will have them stock up more, I want my Mini-Volcanicus!
As for Dinoking, don't pre-order any kits for him yet, as a PulseCon exclusive he may come with accessories Volcanicus lacks, most notably proper feet for the pegholes in Grimlock's and Snarl's waist.

OOOOOoohhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm seriously looking forward this one. St Slaughter is my favorite Joe ever thanks to the Movie. So a double dose of sis a nice concept. I wonder if that one will be a kibble clusterfuk like Bee?
As for Dinoking, I do hope it will pop up at Canadian GameStop. I'd buy it.

Yes an eventual Monstructor as well would be cool....but what would be even better would be to have new ones down the.lineas deluxe or voyagers to be properly scaled to the animated series.

Not for him, but for the inevitable Red Alert repaint.
Cyb Red Alert had one pf the more unique transformations of that line. Scissoring the back and front of the SUV together to form the legs was super original.
Nothing else really interests me from these reveals though.

This line will be primarily, if not exclusively, redecoes. Cannonball is more likely to be the Skids mold than a new one with new engineering.

Had to grab Beachcomber, Axlegrease and Battlemaster Airazor from Amiami. I knew better than to try and preorder from Entertainment Earth. Legacy deluxes are $17.75 (with current exchange rates) before shipping on Amiami. Surprisingly, Earthspark deluxes cost more at $19.01 but they have Nightshade in stock if you were looking for them. Devcon and Crashbar are available as well as those are also going for higher prices some places.
They usually also have some interesting stuff in their used section too but not so much right now. There is that Takara exclusive "leader" class evasion mode Optimus though but it still costs quite a bit. They had the Takara exclusive "leader" Primal but I got him as it was cheaper than actually ording one from Pulse and the Japanese collectors usually keep things in extremely good condition and Amiami doesn't ever really stock things in bad condition.

Specifically the Crankcase retool with the over-the-shoulder cannons, like the original Cannonball had... plus possibly the lightbar from Minerva

You won't get a unique mold for this Canonball, so a red alert from it is just a redeco of another toy.

No matter if it's a Red Alert repaint, or a Medix repaint, I'll be getting it to complete/continue either my Legacy Skids or my WFC Sideswipes.

That wave got a very short release window. None of the stores around me got it and it's basically gone from online stores. BBTS is the only place I know of still selling them for retail-ish price, but they don't have Axlegrease while Devcon and Beachcomber have different release dates making them a bit suspicious.

I'm also intrigued, but for a different reason. Cannonball was part of the pirates, which also included Scorponok. Having Cannonball opens the door (however slightly) to a smaller-than-titan Scorponok, whether a leader or commander. As a comic fan, I really want that, especially since that would mean a smaller Fort Max would most likely follow.Overcracker wrote:Cannonball intrigues me.

Only one wave, I don't think it's been confirmed if there will be more than one. The last few Walmart capsules have been split across multiple waves. I think there's also still one unidentified Deluxe figure with a placeholder name.

Also "Deluxe 1" is the listing that became Cannonball since the product number matches, and "DLX AST" is just an assortment code (which is why that product number is the only non-sequential one), there's no mysteries here. Hopefully there only being 4 Deluxes means nobody will be shortpacked this time, especially considering how vocal people were online about Cosmos.

Originally, Amazon.com had a toy listing for a "TRA GEN Legacy EV Leader DARKMOUNT," (recall that all of the first-year Legacy toys were listed by stores as "Legacy EV" instead of just "Legacy"; this is not an indication that said toy would have been part of the second-year Evolution line). But when the final toy for this listing went live, it ultimately became the order page for Legacy Leader class Transmetal II Megatron instead, meaning that toy replaced the Legacy Straxus/Darkmount toy.
Awhile back, F.J. DeSanto (the head writer of both the Machinima Prime Wars Trilogy cartoons and the Netflix War For Cybertron Trilogy cartoon) had pitched a Legacy cartoon to Netflix that would have lasted for three seasons, but Netflix passed on the pitch.
More recently, a mysterious piece of artwork in the style of the Legacy toy packaging popped up online and DeSanto himself has confirmed it to have been artwork created by Hasbro to represent a character who would have been the main villain of the Legacy animated series had Netflix picked it up.
IDW artist Anna Malkova also chimed in to confirm that the artwork was none other than Straxus, for whom she had done preliminary design work. She created two different designs for this new Straxus, one being his "Original Body", and a Frankenstein-esque "After 'Accident'" design. The first one was used for "Straxxus" as he appeared in the 2019 IDW comics, while the second one went unused.
It is this second one that resembles the design seen in the artwork DeSanto confirmed to have been for the Legacy cartoon villain, meaning this monstrous version of Straxus with his head floating in a liquid tube inside his chest might have been what the Leader class Legacy toy may have looked like (the way it would have actually transformed, and into what, exactly, is anyone's guess).
