A big question from fans recently has been why the new Scourge toy has a Nemesis Prime deco (i.e. black body with red windows) rather than an RID Scourge deco (i.e. grey body with black and white windows). Well, the designer assigned to the deco, Sam, answered fans on Instagram. The answers are below but we will run through what went on.
The character this was supposed to be was not specified when he got the task. The only specification regarding the deco was that the trailer should be silver. As you can read below, the designer was guided by the material of the mold. So, with Laser Prime (who is the main use of this mold), both the alt mode windows and robot mode chest windows are made of clear plastic which is a departure from the original toy. Since the clear plastic for "Scourge" is pink, that means the entire robot mode torso would also be pink clear plastic. This mold was designed so that the torso clear plastic would match the alt mode clear plastic. So, when it came time to decide the colour of the torso, black was chosen for the torso to match the alt mode accordingly.
So there you go, it seems to all come back from a lack of unified direction for the deco and character at the beginning as well as limitations from the way the Legacy Laser Prime mold is constructed.
The designer does conclude that despite all that (limitations and lack of clarity) he went with the best looking deco he could think of. On that point, it is hard to fault him. While the deco doesn't look like Scourge, it is still striking and well done, as many fans have already said on message boards and social media across the web.
Let us knw what you think of both the reasoning and the toy.

We had big reveals lately but there's one part I forgot was coming and that is all the listings for the next year which we get at the half year mark. Thanks to fellow Seibertronian JTprime17 and TF fan HyperShauta, we have listings of the second wave of the Velocitron line. As with the previous line, it has characters from all sorts of Transformers or Trasformers ajacent worlds together, like Crasher from GoBots, Shadow Striker from Cyberverse and voyager Hot Rod from some aspect of G1 (maybe a movie inspired redeco, purely speculation). These listings come from Walmart, which is the exclusive outlet for these toys.

We had big reveals lately but there's one part I forgot was coming and that is all the listings for the next year which we get at the half year mark. No pictures of course, just listings, but it is the first inkling of figures to come.
While there are a lot of listings to go through, all found through Walmart thanks to fellow Seibertronian JTprime17 and TF fan HyperShauta, I chose Tarn as the one in the header because he is a long time coming. Also, unlike every other listing, this would be the first official transforming toy for this character. The rest of the list has some core class Dinos, Leo Prime from the Japanese Beast Wars, Megatron from Armada, Skyquake from Prime and a lot more, all listed below. Those would be for the second year of the Legacy line.

Thanks to
preternia on twitter, we have our first look at the Target exclusive figures going up today as part of the Transformers section of the Target Summer Geek-Out event.
And talk about out of left field! The figures revealed include US releases of the Takara exclusive Street Fighter figures released years ago using Titans Return and Thrilling 30 figures. But the main attraction has to be the release of a Tonka x Hasbro collaborative Devastator, which is G1 Devastator decorated up as a set of Tonka construction vehicles, complete with Autobot symbols. This might be the rumored project: yellow figure as well, though we have no confirmation on that yet.
These figures should be going live on Target's website around 9 AM eastern time, though as we know, Target's systems could be finnicky and we might have to keep watch throughout the day to secure our orders.
Check out the image below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Man, Hasbro can't catch a break. No one had seen what they were going to announce for the RED line today, until just a few hours before their livestream even happened when they were found on shelves at a
Toysrus in Taiwan.
Well, at least we do see shots of these toys none of us had seen, which you can all see below. These RED toys are Walmart exclusives in the US and Canada (and exclusives to different chains elsewhere, like Toysrus). It's funny, Hasbro was really proud of showcasing the back of these toys. And I mean, why wouldn't they be, this is exactly what this line is all about, looking exactly like the show model.

The Walmart exclusive Velocitron Speedia 500 set, which is not available to purchase/preorder until July, has been revealed by hasbro today.
It includes deluxes Blurr, Clampdown, Cosmos, Burnout and Roadrocket, voyagers Override and Hauler and leader Black Convoy (aka RID Scourge).
Important points, Clampdown has white plastic instead of red plastic in areas like the legs as a conscious decision to further differentiate him from Red Alert. Also, the panel confirmed that the Black Convoy in the set is
meant to be RID SCOURGE, unlike what some fans had guessed (or hoped?).
All images from the livestream are below.

Always fun to find toys at retail that fans didn't even see before. A fan and amateur glamour model in Taiwan posted images on their not safe for work
Facebook page showing new RED toys in the new closed box packaging Hasbro has been doing in other lines. There is Prime Optimus Prime, Prime Megatron and G1 Thundercracker. We also have an image of Prime Megatron removed from packaging.
Will these be officially revealed on today's live stream? We'll see. Let us know what you think.

Spoiler, you won't like the reason. But at least it's a reason. Now, more than ever before, Hasbro designers talk to fans directly, answering questions that they would have never answered before. Like what is up with those clear red giant hand accessories Blitzwing comes with. They weren't on the show, so what gives? Well, it turns out it's just a business decision designers were forced to integrate.
Mark Maher gives us a detailed post about the line wide gimmick that was greenlit for the Legacy line BEFORE the character selection. The way this specific toyline was designed, was that all characters would come with Energon fuelled weapons and kids (and fans) could make their own weapon. We have weapon designs from Emiliano Santalucia, showing how this line wide gimmick was first proposed and then greenlit. You can see the individual weapons along with the combinations. You'll notice a uniform colour scheme and extra painted detail, which does work for a line wide gimmick.
However, this was not set up to go with specific characters. So the mandate for designers was to incorporate this gimmick and those specific weapon designs. Mark Maher did a good job integrating what he could. For instance him pairing what would become Kickback's weapons was genius since they also designed the weapon to integrate with the beast mode to create and abdomen that would work for Ransack.
However, not all pairings were ideal. You'll see those hands and gauntlets in the design sheet, those had to go with a release. And the design team chose to pair that one with Blitzwing. They did find ways to integrate it into the tank mode for extra fire power. So that's the explanation, it was a mandate and they tried their best to integrate the weapons and design them in a way that worked best for particular characters. And Blitzwing got the gauntlets. Also, one would assume a large accessory like that also helped further give an idea of value for a leader class toy that is the size of a traditional voyager class toy, even though Hasbro did confirm that the classes are no longer about size.
Below are the original designs along with the full written post found on
Instagram.
Energon consumption time!!! I really hope everyone is enjoying the portal ride of our Legacy toyline. Here is a lil insight on how some of these energon weapons came to be.
First image is just a showcase of the first 2 waves of Legacy weaponry you’ll collect if you grab core class, deluxe class, voyager class, and even leader class!
Then you will actually see the concept art Emiliano Santalucia drew up even before we had the rollout of characters planned for the year. I think this will provide great insight for all yall as alot of the planning for weapon combinations was to obviously utilize our 5mm peg across all scales but this was all sold in before character selects were figured out.
As I worked with Takara on some of the characters I ended up redesigning alot of the weapons in order to maintain their design aesthetic of their own iconic weaponry. I wanted to concentrate heavily on the character and let that guidance provide an opportunity for the style and color of the energon weaponry
Please be sure to share your rad energon weapon combinations, would love to get some more time to talk about some of the new energon featured in some of characters arsenals. Especially that smoked out death soul energon featured in Jhiaxus’s handheld blaster !
More soon, stay tuned, if we reach higher followers maybe I can start doing giveaways!!!!

We have in hand images of Transformers Legacy Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection Road Hauler to share with you (man that is a loooooong name). While he is a essentially a redeco of Grapple, there are several things to note:
1. He comes with a screaming face version of the Grapple head sculpt.
2. The peg issue in the back of the truck mode has been fixed (so slight retool there).
3. The windows have a blue tint rather than the ever so slight purple tint of the original this is homaging.
Also, I see quite a bit of confusion regarding this character online. While the name given to this toy is Hauler, which refers back to the ark crew bot seen before Grapple's introduction, it is not animation accurate at all, because that bot was in Grapple's colours (it was just an animation error, showing Grapple's model too early). An E-Hobby release later released a green redeco of the G1 Grapple toy and named it Hauler, after that bot. This is an updated version of that E-Hobby release, which you can see below. The images of the new Road Hauler come to us from a Prime vs Prime review.
