Fellow Seibertron Sunstar has written up a review on her website for her latest addition to her Starsceam shrine, the Coronation Starscream Statue from Imaginarium Art. We rarely get the sense of scale of these figures, so seeing Sunstar unload the boxes and add it to his display area will give you a sense of how massive it is. She also took images of it with other Starscream toys, like the Masterpiece, to give us a good idea of scale.

Below are exerpts of her review along with several images she took. Many of us will never own this statue, but at least now we can get some great feedback of someone who has taken this plunge and indulge our eyes on the details!

This will be the single-most expensive purchase I have done for my collection outside of furniture – and I have no regrets. I'm going to cover some of my experience with this particular statue, there were some admittedly frustrating points in the progress of the day, but all in all its an outstanding figure

Statue Set Up
Some assembly required...

The statue came with a beautiful instruction booklet, with full colour photos, clearly numbered and displayed in both complete and exploded form. Each part had a rare earth magnet in the joint that enabled it to snap together securely - this was amazing.

The set-up of the statue chugged along pretty nicely. As I stated earlier, each part was wrapped neatly and nestled away with loving care. My spouse helped by unwrapping each part, we started with the rockets to build up the base, and placed the paper and bags back in their original location. This kept the assembly clean and fairly quick. All was trucking along nicely until the right leg...

The right leg of doom... Resin, which this statue is made of, when removed from the mould sometimes may get a bit out of shape. This was a problem for the right leg and the left arm - to a lesser degree with the left arm. Some damage was caused to the joint while I attempted to remedy this problem. Instead of sharp 90° angles in the leg, it was rounded. I had to take a file and try to round off some edge on the leg joint at the body. Unfortunately I did some damage to the inside of the joint, however that is inside so it won't notice. The fact I had to file the statue to get the leg to fit, was a downer. It is fortunate I have tools at my disposal and I am quite acquainted with modifying things (such as war hammer) that I wasn't phased in the least. After a good amount of time filing, I had it fitting.

Another downer was a chip in the resin near this particular joint. We noticed it before I made my modification and after checking the bags and the area I was working with, we decided that this must have occurred prior to packaging. A little silver paint should fix it up, and its not that noticeable, however it is irritating all the same.

Another small problem we encountered, which is easily fixed, however a bit worrisome due to the fact resin is absolutely brittle and will shatter, is a rare earth magnet popped out of the left wrist. This was fixed with a small dab of Gel super glue.

Once these areas of trouble were addressed and rectified, the statue went together like bacon and eggs.

I have to say that as we went along that statue became heavier and heavier and I was grateful for my spouse's help as I needed a break from holding it. It has the size and the weight of a baby (a much smaller head though) The paint and feel of the figure is beautiful. Great details and a lovely addition to any collection, problems aside.

Once it was all set we gently moved the display into the corner of the room where it just looks amazing.

Statue: A++
Statue Problems: C (There should be no need for those quality issues for something with this price point.
Helpful Spouse: A++

I would rate this figure at about an A to A+ But I had problems and I may be an exception rather than the rule.

From one huge Starscream fan to another, nice collection. Im definitely not a statue guy, but I think it works well in a memorabilia collection of one particular character.

I will add this note here, although I had the money mostly saved up by the time I had ordered it, I still asked my other half if he'd object. I am glad I have such a good husband and friend who will allow me to indulge in my collecting. Side note, he has basically zero interest in the transformers - but he finds them kinda fun.

And its virtually the centrepiece of my collection. It is exactly how I imagined it to look there and, the table that I bought was perfect. It even had a glass top so it made the edition visible from the underside.

That's really cool to have a look at, thanks for sharing! Nice that they packed in the features that they did, makes it go beyond just being in the same state all the time.

Holy crap, over 600$US in shipping fees alone... and the thing is HUGE!

I'm a Starscream fanboy as well, but having that kind of money to burn, I'd go for the original G1 Sky Shadow or Metalhawk. Still, anyone who can afford one of these statues, fees and all, and don't regret anything is perfectly fine in my book.

Speaking of being a Screamers fan, anyone like me who'd want the original Takara MP-03 "greenscream"? I want it but gosh, the price it go for....

I don't exactly have money to burn, took me most of a year to save that money. And I have to restart with saving again. And what is the greenscream going for these days?

You must be as "rich" as me then. If I'd want to, I'd get such a statue myself... For the price of not buying any Transformers or anime figures for at least 6 months!

As for "Greenscream", who always come at the minimum complete with box:

Ebay: Ignoring the dreamers, around 130 to 150$US plus shipping and taxes.

Mandrake: Only one at 25000Y plus taxes and shipping.

So I may be getting one from the good ol' Bay in a few months, once all my current preorders are finally paid for annd shipped. For a time no Greenscreams were under 300$US. Guess the overabundance of "better" MP Starscreams flooding the market (MP-11, 3Ps and KOs)have lowered the original's value... which make me VERY glad! :-?

Since I only collect Starscream, saving for them isn't to difficult. We also make Beer, Wine and have a tiny salt water aquarium. (that aside, we don't own a car, we ride bicycles (all year)- we currently rent, so we have areas where we save. Mum has a car, which we borrow from time to time.

That Greenscream is quite handsome, although his initial colour scheme was disappointing, the releases afterwards, were delightful - still I wouldn't trade him in. I wouldn't trade in any of my 255 screams :P

Oh, and to get back to the statues, got this one from Prime One Studios?

Initially, I wasn't a fan of the movie design for Screamers, but after owning and playing with the HFTD leader, I fell in love.

I considered it, but at the time, I did not have the money. I figured there would be a G1 based figure in the future and saved for it. There is another statue coming down the pipes but I cannot get it due to lack of space. Maybe one day, when I have the space, I can find someone willing to sell theirs to me.

wow, that is an Epic purchase. It looks great in your collection and on it's own. Getting a glass table so you can see the number underneath is a great Idea as well.

thank you so much for sharing it and your experience with it. If they ever make a statue like this of Jazz, I'm going to be in a bit of bother.

Via the official Facebook page for Imaginarium Art, we have a final render but a full render at that, of their Transformers G1-esque Jazz in his full groovy posed glory. Posing on a cyber looking base, with his blaster in hand, shoulder mounted cannon, full visor and definitely not a Martini blanked out logo, you can check out the image mirrored below.

Also included below is a look at one of their upcoming pieces, also from the Autobot ranks - Prowl, with double shoulder rockets, headcrest, sheriff stars on each shoulder piece and all! Check them both out, and join the discussion in the Energon Pub.

Well sideshow (I think it was sideshow) did a sexy movie Starscream statue - you might have missed that one - was about 1700 usd, LEDs. I woulda got it if I had the money at the time. But since I have a nostalgic love of G1 Starscream - I decided ultimately to get that one. I don't understand all this BS with people complaing what others like. Companies want to make money, and they know G1 is a popular line and will generally sell. They may not want to take a risk of making something with a high price tag that won't do well - I can't imagine kicker being popular. If you also refer to me as one of the bellyachers who likes G1, keep in mind, I am pretty open minded and enjoy most, if not all series (energon aside)

You can ignore Fenrir, most do, he just spouts this to see if anyone takes the bait.

Because what he says is nonsense anyway, its not just G1 stuff out there. There are statues out there for G1, Live action films, a cross of the two, and Beast Wars.

From the official Facebook page for Imaginarium Art, the licensed makers of Transformers statues with a redesigned take on the Generation 1 aesthetics, we have a small handful of updates. First up, a simple art teaser for an upcoming project, featuring the yellow scout Bumblebee, reusing the art seen on the Cyber Battalion toy packaging.

Next is the final colour version for the Jazz figure, updating the previous story about the statue we reported on here.

And finally, we have the first physical proof of the next project they're working on: a statue of purple leader of the Decepticons, Galvatron. Check it out below!

Imaginarium Art has posted a new render for an upcoming Wheeljack Statue on Facebook. So far we can only see the torso without colors but it gives us the impression that this statue will be based on G1 Wheeljack. Unfortunately there are no other details so we don't yet know when this statue will be released, how much it will cost or even how big it will be. Feel free to speculate on the boards. If you are not familiar with Imaginarium Art feel free to read up on some of their previous statues. We have a wonderful review of Imaginarium's Coronation Starscream to give you an idea of what these statues could be like. Though they usually are not as large as Coronation Starscream, they certainly are very detailed. Again we hope to hear your thoughts on this statue on the boards!

I don't think these wings are bad at all, they actually look really good on this redesign. I was expecting people to complain about his rocket launcher being on the wrong side, which doesn't bother me either. I like what Imaginarium is going for here ;)^

Remember about a month ago there was a teaser image for a new Imaginarium Art statue of Wheeljack? Well, today we have news that he has been fully revealed for us to see!

Thanks to a Facebook post from Imaginarium, we have a new image of the Autobot scientist in his new style, looking very nice and very cool. The statue is another installation of their re-imaginings of G1 figures and bodies with more Movie-verse levels of detailing, though Wheeljack does seem to be a bit less detailed than his contemporaries.

But what is really cool and sort of funny is how Wheeljack is posed, leaning down on 1 knee over what looks like an invention of his, aiming his smaller blaster, seemingly inspired by his original blaster, into the sky, while holding a big ole gatling gun in his right hand. There are said to be additional accessories he can hold as well, though they have not been revealed yet.

Check out the new image below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Thanks to a tweet from site sponsor BigBadToyStore, we have a new image of the upcoming Imaginarium Art Transformers statues!

This new image encompasses several statues that have so far made it into the grey model phase of production. For those wondering, we have not seen any grey models of Galvatron, Bumblebee or the Quintessons, merely a single rough prototype for Galvatron and the other 2 hinted at. These figures are all Imaginarium's own designs, taking the bodies of the G1 characters and updating them with some movie-esque levels of details.

In the image, from left to right, we have: Ironhide, Optimus Prime, Jazz, Devastator, a trio of Seekers that is most assuredly Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp, and the newly revealed Wheeljack, giving us a look at this back and showing us that he needs a giant gatling gun to fight Devastator, of course. Rodimus Prime and Nemesis Prime, both of whom have full color models and pre-orders live, are not pictured.

Check out the new image below, and let us know what you think of it in the comments section below!

My MP-36 Megatron was NEVER transformed once. I just don't have the courage. First Transformers ever that I do this. Still, Megs look good... as an articulated statue!

They had some original ideas at first, but then they folded and copied the Maketoys design, which is a weird choice. Why buy this statue if Giant Type-61 is already out there? If they had stuck to making an original design for their Devastator, I would've seen the point much more clearly.

Oh well. I bet it will still look cool once it's painted up, though. Not that I'll be buying it. :-?

Congrats! You’re not the target audience but that doesn’t mean there isn’t an audience for them. Just like there’s plenty of people who don’t get why adults still collect and play with toys.

Some people like to have highly detailed statues to put on a shelf.

Also made of standard PVC plastic, not Polyresin, and not limited to a few hundred. I might actually be interested in these statues if they were made out of stronger, less expensive materials at a better production number.

Here's what a $150 will get you from Japanese statues ("scale figures")

Image

To the tip of the tower that's nearly 16" tall and outright massive! Just standard PVC, and huge production runs (getting second, or technically third release in December) fairly reasonable prices. Would love to own one, I just don't have anywhere good to put it.

Dat Miku Statue...

But I display her WHERE? :-(

BTW, PVC is WAY superior than polyresyn. That plycrap is fragile ar fok and WILL break if you look at them the wrong way. It happen to a 400$ statue I once bought instead of a PS2 at the time, and a 200$ one (now worth nothing) that I bought instead of a MTG Unlimited Mox Diamond.... :BANG_HEAD:

I hate these stupid statues. Transformers that dont transform are dumb. Especially when they are three times the price or higher than MP figures. The argument coming from the few statue collectors on forums seems to be "I can afford these and you cant so stop hating". I actually can afford a few of these things. But for that price, it better transform, cook, clean, and wipe my ass. I find it hard to believe anybody who just collects these things in mass quantity is a true Transformers fan. Maybe a statue fan or a fan of anime, but a hardcore transformers fan? No way, I dont buy it for a second . Especially considering most of these statues are G1 themed and target an audience of people who grew up with real Transformers that actually transform. When I think of these statues the first thing that comes to mind is the show "Tanked" on Animal Planet. It just shows what socialites will $pend to put in their living room and say "look im richer than you and I can buy whatever I want". I get that, but do they get that Transformers are supposed to transform? I think not....

I partly agree with you Rated X. But only for the G1 inspired designs. Truly pointless because the MP line proves that those designs can transform while having that much details.

Obviously, the only statues that truly make sense to collect, especially if they are articulated "statues" (meaning ultra-deluxe action figures) are BAYVERSE Movie bots. To have genuine 100% screen accuracy and level of details, NONE of those designs can transform while still following the laws of our Universe. So for the ultimate Movies fan, Movie statues are the crown jewels of any Movie bots display.

Thanks to the official Imaginarium Art page for their officially licensed Transformers statues, we have a final pre-order listing for their G1 esque Jazz figure, with final colours, look, and price ready for anyone willing to buy the funky dude.

Jazz is Optimus Prime's right-hand man. Unlike Prowl, Prime's military strategist, Jazz responds well to change and improvisation. Whatever surprises the Decepticons spring, Jazz can deal with it. His position as Special Operations head calls for all the skills he possesses, yet he still has time to add some style to everything he does. Jazz's upbeat and outgoing personality make him one of the most popular Autobots among the Ark's crew.
An admirer of Earth music of every kind, Jazz loves culture. More than most other Autobots, he has his finger on the pulse of Earth trends and lingo, effortlessly incorporating human slang into his vocabulary. Chances are, Jazz could tell you the status of almost any reality television show and each week's Top 40 list.

I suppose that is true with some movie designs. Although I believe anything is possible in the world of toy engineering without mass shifting. I wouldnt be suprised if the could even create a proper ROTF Overload that transforms into the robot from the concept art:

With that being said let it be known, I dont hate all statues. I just hate Transformers statues. I do own a $140 statue of my favorite mortal kombat character, Jade. But she isnt a transformer. All she has to do is stand there and look sexy. But I wouldnt have paid $400 or $1500 for her. Thats just ludacris snob yuppie s**t.

I can't see the point in paying that much for a statue of a fighting game character you can't pose into any other moves or stances than what she's already stuck in but it's your choice and your money. Transformers statues have their fans too. If someone wants an extremely detailed but non-posable represenation of G1 Jazz on their shelf to gaze and admire that's up to them. Some folk just want to have a great looking version of their fave character without the need for it to be a mostly plastic toy that may sacrifice aesthetic qualities for function.

Speaking of human based statues, the advantage is you don't have to deal with ugly joints and such.

In conclusion, each things have their good and bad points. The final say being dictated by tastes, interests, and budjet.

A lot of well made figures cleverly hide joints as best they can though and I'd take a noticable movable joint over a completly overpriced static non-posable version of a character any day but that's my choice. I like paying less for an item that can do much, much more and other folk like paying silly monies for an unposable piece of 'art'. :P [/quote]

Directly from the Facebook page of the officially licensed statue and replica makers Imaginarium Art, we have a full colour shot of their latest project in the Transformers statue line: G1 esque pink warrior, Arcee!

Posing with both gun and sword - taking on attributes from her first incarnation and some Animated and IDW slants in there, much like the Generations transforming toy - you can see her in a suggested rendition: the page talks about potentially removing some lines from her face, as it's still under licensor (Hasbro) consideration for now. You can check out the image below, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub discussion boards.
