Cybertron Metroplex?

If they're going to the UT for Titans, why not Tidal Wave?

I'll wait.

EB rarely clearances stuff out and its never amazing deals

I'm sure it will not be just E.B Games that will have these Wingfingers flocks.

At worst, I'll have one for 2$ less thanks to my Platinum membership.

Seems a bit weird not having another insecticon in wave 2 or 3.

Really want to like the core pretenders but it just feels like there wont be a decent enough roster of them.

Looks like I'll be buying more from this line than I have Kingdom even with all the repacks of figures that werent so good the first time around.

Stunticons are gonna be a hit or miss after getting both CW versions at £80 each compared to £93 just for Motormaster -which if it's in scale to the already too small WFC Primes truck mode it's likely going to be no.

Titan seems pointless with the orig Cybertron toy being pretty good and I dont really want any cybertron figures after selling what I had. Hopefully it will be decent for those that want it and not require any thord party upgrades to complete it.

It appears the news article about the Legacy wave assortments is linked to the wrong thread, if someone on the news team/with admin powers wants to take a look.

I have a strong feeling that the Stunticon cars will be retools of Earthrise/Kingdom molds that just clip onto Motormaster's trailer. It'd be sturdier, more animation-accurate, and cheaper than another Scramble City combiner.

They can be new molds and also be clip ons.

I just got my Sideswipe and Skywarp 2-pack from Hasbro Pulse the other day. I've already been spoiled for the new "Earthmode" Sideswipe type Lamborghini, having scored Kingdom Red Alert several weeks ago, but it's nice to have this retool of Sideswipe nonetheless. The red and white are bright and pop so much more than on the original Siege release. He's very animation accurate, which is much appreciated. It's just that much more of a "Mini Masterpiece." However, QC seems to be a bit hit and miss on this release. There's just something about the top half of the figure that doesn't come together quite right in alternate mode, resulting in a car that won't roll well. It's not a clearance issue, either, but seemingly has to do with how the front wheels sit. Luckily, I have a second one I had received from Amazon last week (I bought another set to do some parts swapping with Kingdom Red Alert), but that one is also flawed in that the back of the car mode won't clip together flush down the midline, resulting in a big gap down the back of the car. However, it rolls just fine. I ended up separating the two figures at the waist joints and swapping the lower and upper halves of each to get one copy that could clip together in the back and also roll freely. The other one now just hold's Red Alert's spare parts.

Anyway, this obviously leaves me with two Skywarps, which I don't think I need. Is anyone interested in just Maximal Skywarp from this set? PM me if so. Also, let me know if you want to see pics of my Kingdom Red Alert with Kingdom Sideswipe's arms, feet, and shoulder cannon (minus the missile). I'm quite pleased with the results, and it's a very easy and completely reversible swap that requires no tools. :)

My copy also has this second problem, but I was able to get close enough with a little extra pressure, and I didn't see any stress marks, though maybe the tabs show a little wear. It's barely noticeable, though, and it doesn't bother me, but it's there.

Likely because the Metroplex mold already exists and can be- and has been- used for multiple figures/repaints. Tidal Wave is really a unique figure...no potential repaint possibilities, no other figures that could adapt from him so very, VERY low reuse/remold/resale. Hence nO TW yet, and I'd be stunned if we got one. Why do you think they continue to make Seekers and Sideswipe clones? Just a change of plastic color and *BOOM* suckers vacuum them up as "different characters".

I really don't think repaint/re-use potential carries as much weight at the titan class as it does for other classes so far.

Metroplex, retooloed into Fort Max, redecoed into Grand Max takes the cake for the most mileage from the original mold.

But other than that, all we have is Scorponok redecoed into Black Zarak. Every other titan has been a single mold use.

You dont think the Cybertron Metroplex is a retool of that mold too? Id put money on it if I wasnt married and my wife rook it all...

No, not at all. The only thing the 2 versions of Metroplex really have in common is the head and the overall robot proportions. That is about it, well that and being big. All the T30 Metroplex mold can do with his legs for alt mode is lay them flat. To even try and use that mold to create an alt mode that looks anything like Cybertron Metroplex would likely require more work than just making new molds.

I hope it isn't. Megalo Convoy looks nothing like Metroplex from G1. And I think the actual figure will be closer to Commander Jetfire's size than 2 feet of Titan, because his weapon was almost as large as he was, so that will take up a lot of room/material as well. Not sure how complex the engineering will be.

Agreed, Cybertron Metroplex won't be a reuse of T30 Metroplex. Plus lets save Tidal Wave (probably a Commander Class) for even we have an Armada Megatron redo to combine it with.

I'm most likely in the minority with this, but I never cared for that combination. I understand it was in response to the Optimus/Jetfire combo, but to me it was awkward and forced, and looked stupid. I guess if we ever get a leader Armada Megatron he might combine with a commander Tidal Wave. Personally, it's a feature I can do without and would gladly sacrifice in order to get better Megatron and Tidal Wave figures.

I feel like the idea (at least in Japan) was not only as a counter to the Optimus/Jetfire combo but also as an homage to the fact that G1 Jetfire and Shockwave were depicted as rivals in their original toy commercial, as Tidal Wave's Japanese name was Shockwave. So it was like "Optimus has combined with Jefire? Well then Optimus's rival Megatron will combine with Jetfire's rival Shockwave."

I think the combination could be improved but I can't see Hasbro leaving it out, UT fans would complain too much about a play feature being nixed (on top of the minicon functionality being gone like the last few UT redos)

Exactly. And while I'm not really a fan of Armada (Yes Micron Legend is a more palatable presentation for me at least) I always thought the Purple Shockwave/Tidalwave looked way better.

As a UT fan, leave it out, that combination-thing never made sense or looked good and I'd rather get a Titan Tidal Wave for a suitably big alt mode & the Armada game vibes than a Commander one to facilitate that combination.

I can see them hewing closer to the cartoon scale then the game.

Though knowing Hasbro they'd find a way to do a Titan Class TW and still have it combine. They'd likely to go by the gimmicks shown in the toon after all.

My Sideswipe and Skywarp set arrived today. Some of the paint on Skywarp is a bit messy, especially around the eagle's head, the back of the head is covered in flecks and dashes of stray white paint, a bit of yellow paint on the beak has chipped away leaving an ugly mark, and the white feathers on his wing tips haven't been apinted very well, so bits of dark brown are still coming through. Despite those problems, while I don't like him as much as Airazor, he's still a good use of the mould.
Sideswipe meanwhile is very good, one of the best Transformers I've handled in a while. I've got Red Alert so I knew what I was expecting, but Sideswipe wears the mould much better. I feel as if I need to track down an Earthrise Sunstreaker now, but to avoid another impulse buy I might regret later, I'm going to sit down and really think about what my G1 Autobot shelf is actually going to have on it, because I don't want it to swell up too much.

For anyone interested, here is a pic of my Kingdom Red Alert after some parts swapping with a Kingdom Sideswipe. The arms below the shoulder have been swapped, along with the feet, and the shoulder cannon barrel. This brings Red Alert a little more in line with his cartoon coloring, but it's not perfect. I would have preferred white thighs, red biceps, and black shoulders, but that would require knocking out several pins or custom painting the figure, and I don't like to modify my figures in any way that's not easily reversible. Anyway, I'm pretty pleased with the results, which look like a combination of color layouts from the original Red Alert Masterpiece release and the later MP+ "Anime Edition" release. :)

Image

Here's another reversible modification you can make. It's pretty easy to pop the front wheels off, so that instead of letting them tuck away into the chest in robot mode, you can stick them on the sides of the shoulders instead for an even better match to the G1 cartoon character model (and original toy). I figure that a little parts forming is fair. Hasbro and Takara have been designing several figures in the War for Cybertron Trilogy to utilize that as a part their conversion schemes, to various degrees. The wheels, of course, weren't meant to be used like this, but it's easy to do and entirely reversible. You just have to be careful not to damage the pegs on the wheels.

Image
Image

I plan to do something similar with Kingdom Pipes when he is finally available here in the U.S. I suppose one could do that for Kingdom Huffer too for a more G1 toy look, but I'm happy with the wheel-less cartoon character model that the figure already creates by design.

If that's the case, I'm sticking to the CW versions, cartoon accuracy be damned. I'd like my combiners to actually combine, thank you.

It's funny, out of all the combiners the original G1 Menasor toy was the closest to the animation model. Just slap the limbs on and go.

That's exactly what would like as well. And that way there's also the potential for a Broadside retool.

Finally got Tricranius yesterday. All Fossilizers combiner. The colors on Tric are cool, but they make him more "gummi" like and as a result, not as stable all around. Skelivore also being made of clear plastic doesn't have the same issue.

Wow, thanks for sharing! Colors come together well, though Tricranius does stand out. Love the idea of using Transmutate’s head for the combiner.

So I happened to find a scorponok today, and I was pleasantly surprised by the figure. As someone who was not overly fond of the stock images, I actually don't hate the barrel chested design of the figure, he's a bit stocky, and the waist-pelvis ratio is not flattering, but it's an enjoyable figure with a lot of personality and a great beast mode.

If you're on the fence about him, I say give it a go, and see what he does for you in-hand; at worst, you can sell him off to someone who wants him, which shouldn't be hard, based on the fact that no one has him in stock from my last search.

I like Scorponok. His transformation is a bit odd, but he doesn't look bad in either mode. He holds up in my BW collection nicely, just waiting on his stooge buddies Terrorsaur and Waspinator.

Puffer joins Tigerhawk as being another Transformers equivalent of Tuvix.

Also, explicit GoBots mentions in that description. A far cry from how coy Bug Bite's description was about his origins.

Or it's a placeholder pic, like all those Sideswipe silhouettes from last year's Galactic Odyssey Collection.

No wait. Something's off about that pic. The head and arms look the same, but everything else looks different. It's some kind of Wheeljack retool.

I'm hoping there is a Wheeljack in the golden sets so he can have the correct torso shape :P I only picked up Netflix version because it was cheeeeap.

Aren't the silhouettes based off art and not the actual figure proportions though? I'm pretty sure the Sideswipes weren't perfect matches either.

Plus, we already know the other Golden Disk figures are Terrorsaur, Jackpot, and some form of Tigatron, so unless one of them is a multipack that doesn't mention the other figure in the listing or Jackpot is for whatever reason a Wheeljack retool despite him matching the Jazz mold wayyy better, that should still just be a placeholder.

In fact, since we know those figures are coming, and the description is saying these sets have lore based on a timeline divergence at what we know as the beginning of Season 2 of BW, I'm gonna go ahead and make some risk-free predictions:
-Jackpot is the other one that comes through the vortex, and either is an Action Master that gains an altmode from this process or is being retconned into being an upgraded form of someone else like Puffer is
-Terrorsaur is in this because in this new timeline, he doesn't get knocked into the lava and killed off during the hit of the transwarp wave
-Tigatron is either going to be the prototype orange recolor retconned as an upgraded form for him, or he's going to be a Botcon-inspired Transmetal repaint of Pulsecon Ravage, hence why the listing has always been just Tigatron and not a separate character repaint

Also I just realized that this going up means that Hasbro has now technically officially revealed the Pipes mold via an exclusive repaint before they actually revealed the base mold or ANY OF THE REST of Kingdom's last 2 waves. Frickin Puffer got revealed before the currently-in-stores Waspinator and Shadow Panther.

EDIT: ....actually, wait, they call out the Golden Disk subline as being specifically 4 PACKS, they might all have multiple figures yet...

Tigatron won't be a Golden Disk figure, unless it's a retool or a redeco. He's coming in Wave 4 Kingdom as a Voyager.

I know about retail Tigatron, but we've had separate listings for both retail Tigatron and a Golden Disk Tigatron for months now, hence why I'm speculating how the Golden Disk one is going to be different.

Orange Tigatron, not white Tigatron.

If we’re already getting Jackpot, meaning that Action Masters are on the table, and we’re getting a repaint and/or retool of Wheeljack, my bet is that we will see Slicer in one of these sets. I’d also not be surprised to see a repaint of Warpath as Treads.

Also, let’s not discount the possibility of a “screen accurate” redeco of Tigatron that ditches the more realistic tan fur highlights of the mass retail release.

Why would they do Slicer if they're doing Shattered Glass Wheeljack next year? Barring the faction symbols and the names on the packaging, they're the same figure/deco.

Treds would be nice though.

...that doesn't really feel alternate-timeline enough to make sense here, how would they justify that being in here?

With ER I believe when the Galactic Odyssey sets were announced we knew there would be 5 (and some if not most of the contents). I know some of the contents of the Golden Disk line have been leaked, but do we know exactly how many sets there will be?

Although I thought the GO sets were neat, I only ended up getting the the Botropolis one. I'm hoping at least one of these Golden Disk sets will be fossilizer-centric.

Don't forget that SG Wheeljack is also rumored for the SG line, which would already be Slicer colored.
