Episode #171 "Team Knightmare" is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on iTunes and Stitcher Radio within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.
With the special The Last Knight fan event occuring in selected IMAX theaters this week, fans around the globe got to experience a short preview of what to expect that goes well beyond any trailers seen so far. Mr. Starscream was lucky enough to have this event happening in his hometown of Chicago, and walks us through several of the scenes shown. Many revelations await, with plenty of fun along the way so be sure to tune in to hear all the details.
Yours truly was not going to drive to Baltimore for this
Seibertron then joins in after some technical difficulties, and compares this footage to what he got to see a couple of weeks earlier. Why a couple of weeks? Well, if you haven't checked out his run-down of the Super Fan event hosted by Paramount and Mr. Bay himself, check out the thorough write-up, flashy image gallery, and much more as the show rolls on. Hear about all the fun and learn intriguing answers to burning questions, including whether or not our illustrious site owner really thinks The Last Knight is Michael Bay's final journey with our favorite robots in disguise.
Oh, and don't forget - there aren't 14 new movies on the way, at least not necessarily!
Whatever you don't like in the movie can be our fault too now
With the launch of toys for The Last Knight slowly beginning, the inevitable leaked images of future product waves have hit the relentless tubes of the internet and given us potential looks at future fun still to come. The cast banters and speculates on possible upcoming releases such as Voyager Class Nitro, a one-step Cogman, Deluxe Class Skullitron, and Seibertron even gets in an accidental joke about the Infernocus combiner. Beast Hunters, indeed.
Empurata has evolved
We then gather up our Canadough and pool our resources to see who can Whale it up the fastest in the newly launched Forged to Fight mobile game from Kabam studios. Some of the cast is already well into this latest mobile gaming adventure, and you'll be able to hear their thoughts on what to expect from this title. Be sure to look for the Seibertron alliances as you get your own fighting started up.
Will this be your latest mobile obsession?
We change gears to comics, but instead of catching up on some of the latest issues like Optimus Prime #5, Lost Light #4, or the incredible Till All Are One #8, we (finally) tackle a fantastic Listener Question from Ironhidensh:
Ironhidensh wrote:Has IDW's version of the classic characters started to take more precedence than the original G1 versions?
For the obvious example, when I think of Megatron, I no longer think of the megalomaniac personification of evil destroyer of worlds, but now I think of the conflicted freedom fighter who tried too hard and lost his way. When I think of Hot Rod, I don't think of the young hero ready to step up and carry the Matrix. I think of the immature leader who means well, but can't get out of his own way. When I think of Optimus, I don't think of the greatest hero of my childhood. I think of the proverb that absolute power corrupts absolutely.
IDW has moved so far beyond the humble beginnings of our beloved toy commercial. I just realized today talking with a fellow nerd, that "old school" G1 is fading away to me. The vast world building and attention to character building IDW has done is winning. I'm okay with this. Your thoughts?
Listen in to hear our answers, but also be sure to check out the ongoing forum topic for this same question in our Energon Pub Forums!
Wanna make somethin' of it?
With the upcoming Transformers vs. Rom: Shining Armor announced, ScottyP gets up on his soap box and lets you know why, despite the marketing hype, you should be following Transformers comics anyhow right now. The twist? IDW is doing a marvelous job of truly making the Hasbro Universe books optional, enhancement reads, and not a burden on your time or wallet if you so choose. If you gave up a few months back, maybe this segment will sell you on jumping back in. Or maybe it won't, but that's your loss in the end
She's just a main character in a series now, not the character a series is about!
The show closes out with a short segment that ends up being not short at all. In fact, it's quite long, but we throw away agendas and take on the first ever Twincast Freestyle. Early impressions of MP-36 Megatron are shared, though many cast members don't quite have this latest villain in their lives yet to be able to go too deep. After plenty of other fun, actually short items, Jon 3.0 takes us into the future with thoughts about how 3D printing might impact our favorite hobby.
You're still going to have to go to Moe's or someplace for the Coke freestyle machine.
We'll be back in a few weeks for more fun and discussion, and maybe even a buying guide with pro-tips for tracking down toys on "official" movie toy launch days.

Thumbs up Claire!!
I've only heard the beginning of the episode, but very much agree with this comment and Claire's points about that series. It was excellent in its 90s averageness.
