Welcome to the latest episode of the Seibertron.com Twincast / Podcast! This episode features your host ScottyP with Megatronus and RodimusConvoy13. Listen in as we discuss the latest news, toys, and more.
Episode #201 "Sweet Boy" is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on iTunes, Google Play, and Stitcher Radio within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.
We've got Bumblebee on the brain - what with the movie trailer up and all - and the Twincast crew is here to articulate what we think sets this 'prequel' installment apart from the main Bay-verse of the first 5 movies. In tone and style, at the very least, it looks like we have reason to believe the film will be nostalgic, heartwarming, and a boon for the flagging movie franchise. In other words: believe the hype. Want more? Check out the News Crew's apt analysis of the movie's probable success here.
Fly like a butterfly...
The latter half of The Toys That Made Us season 1 (#TTTMU) has been released to Netflix, and we're ready to take a closer look at the Transformers episode. The story of Transformers is uniquely complex, and the show does a fantastic job of breaking it down. We certainly learned something new, and share our appreciation for the front loaded history, even as we hope for a post Beast Wars follow up. Did we mention that Seibertron.com's own founder, Ryan Yzquierdo, is featured prominently on the episode? Bonus: the News Staff is here to give you the play by play.
That shirt sure is a sexy piece of work...
Masterpiece is on our minds, specifically MP44 Beast Wars Megatron and MP42 Cordon. We marvel at the masterful engineering of Megatron, even as we speculate wildly at the likely high price tag, and give an approving nod to Cordon, and the continued trend of pre-Transformers / Diaclone redecoes of these Masterpeice figures. Oh, and as we talk shop, more images of Megatron drop. Did we mention he was massive?
Yeeesss, that's Air Attack Optimus Primal next to him. That's when his scale REALLY hit us.
We're not quite done with Masterpiece yet - we have yet to discuss the 'toy accurate' MP29+ Shockwave and MP36+ Megatron. Shockwave is purple. A purplier purple... perhaps even the purpliest purple. We were fine with the old purple, but are also fine with the new purple... it takes saying purple a half-dozen times to really think about how weird the word purple is, doesn't it? Anyway, while we pine for grey Shack-wave, we take on the weirdness of MP36+ Megatron - the chrome, the side cannon, everything. It's so ugly, we love it - all that's missing is a trigger crotch.
Gives a new meaning to the term 'bucket head'.
Requiem of the Wreckers is on the chopping block, and we just wish we could get more. Va'al's excellent review for this excellent book can be found here. This book truly is about relationships between parents and children, and we seek to explore those relationships through the prisms of purity and corruption. The narrative seamlessly flows across the past and present (and in the end, future), and across artists, so just watch out for those emotional punches as Roche bids a fitting farewell to the current cast of Wreckers, and alludes, perhaps, to something new. If you want to avoid spoilers for this issue, the time in the file to avoid stretches from 1:23:00 to 2:04:20.
Just because you can't force people to change, doesn't mean they don't.
Here we make a brief mention of upcoming reissues. First, we look at Beast Machines Air Attack Optimus Primal, and second, we talk about the reissue of our very own RodimusConvoy13 in the form of his adolescent self, G1 Hot Rod, who hasn't been widely available in this form for over a decade. The Twincast Crew then shares what G1 figures they'd like to see reissued - we have some solid recommendations.
A Wal-Mart exclusive!
We conclude this episode, like we always do, with bragging rights. What has the Twincast managed to find since our last recording?
We are much obliged, Ollie's!

Nah it was about 18 hours, but at least we expected it this time!Ironhidensh wrote:So let me guess, you guys made this episode, and 20 minutes later, the images of the new MP prime broke out?

Thankfully it wasn't like the time they announced MP-28 Hot Rod and Shockwave literally 10 minutes after we all logged off.
I remember getting an email from Ryan asking if anyone could hop back on and record a few minutes. I already had all my stuff packed up and was in bed

But at least we're consistent about missing MP news, right?

Some other interesting but unlikely options...
Optimus Primal colored Megatron ala SG
Movie Grimlock colored
T-Wrecks...I know everyone is mentioning this, but what if he was decoed like the Jurassic Park Tyranosaurus? That would extend the appeal of the figure into another group and might justify its existence.

I dunno - the Jurassic Park fandom is intense. They'll eat us alive.

Ooh, that would be the prettiest way to do a darker coloration I think. Plus, that coral color as the scaly texture highlights? I'm all over that.Counterpunch wrote:I think the toy BW Megatron is the most likely redeco possibility.

They did Thunders and Skywarp as G1 style Movie heads. Ramjet had the Movie Screamer head
Eh, good Actors do not a good movie make.

Cheesey intro is cheesey
I agree, I did like that pre TF info.
I gotta wonder why they got a 40 minute format, almost everything Netflix does is a literal full hour. If we had gotten those last 16 minutes, or cut the 5 minutes of false start narration, I think we coulda gotten a lightning round in of RID, Unicron Trilogy, etc. Absolutely, keeping the focus on G1 was the right call, but the legacy was important.
YokeSan, thats where Animated gor Yoketron, isnt it...

Man, I think I read the wrong Comic Book. All this Remption and becoming a better leader stuff and I am going "yeah, Impactor really grew in these." But you sre taljing about Springer.
For Me, Springer has always been the 80's Action hero, the good guy; what we expect an Autobot to be. And both Impactor and Verity had said that. If here was anything, I feel like Springer might have lost faith in himdelf as a leader, since most of the Wreckers after Pova felt he betrayed thrm, but I never saw anything that he was a bad leader.
I agree, Impactpr was a dinple bot who needed Conflict to feel useful. But when we really first met him in Last Stand, he was a cold bot who was either oht and out immoral or simply ignored his morals. By Sins, he was repenting his sins by trying to help Guzzle. So much for that. And now here in Requiem, he seemed to genuinely care about Springer, lashing out at Carnivac because he used Springer instead of some other schmuck. Thats a long road from Pova when he saw Springer as another disposable, and a useful blast shield.
Tarantulas too, although his arc was more repentence than remdmption. Such an odd character, wierd, cracked in the head, but hey, he meant well.
I swear PCC Steamhammer is the one tha kidnapped Springer.
Comic stores: I dont have one ib any of the surrounding towns. I think I have one in Avon two towns over. I meant to ebter the comic and with Google crapping out my post so many times I just forgot to pit ot in there and when I saw no one else in I didnt go back to re up. I did order a Saga from Barnes and Noble
I wabt PowerMaster Prime because I remember seeing the reissue in TRU with Godbomber. Yes, i have the TR, with the Transforming cab from 3P, but I eouldnt mind the original too.
Ouch! A retailer posted that on a public forum???
Thats kinda telling actually. WTH happened? Maybe this has fallen more on Hasbro than the Retailers...
I wouldnt mind getting that Street Fighter guy who looks like Polarclaw.
I could part with my Ramhorn Headmaster. I am not using it with the "vehicle", IE Ramhorn
