Roll Out!
And so it begins ...
Throw that voter apathy out the window, it's selection time. Us fans have a chance to vote for the fourth inductee to the 2011 Transformers Hall Of Fame, as they will be joining Soundwave, Ratchet and Ironhide, as well as last years inductees of Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream and Dinobot! So who has a chance to make it in? Our five nominees for the last inductee spot are Grimlock, Shockwave, Autobot Erector, Waspinator and Autobot Jazz! Submit your vote here!!
"Me GRIMLOCK want little statue!"
GRIMLOCK fought his way through the gladiatorial pits underneath Kaon to become one of the greatest warriors on CYBERTRON. Having joined the AUTOBOTS early on during the Great War, GRIMLOCK has fought and survived through enough battles to have earned a top ranking position amongst the AUTOBOTS. GRIMLOCK rose to lead a group known for their shock and awe style of military tactics, these soldiers were known as the Lightning Strike Coalition Force. Captured by SHOCKWAVE they were eventually reformatted into the team known as the DINOBOTS. During a fierce battle, GRIMLOCK’s vocal processors were damage leading to his awkward and distinct way of speaking.
"I am the only logical selection."
SHOCKWAVE has always based his actions on the most logical choices. Having joined MEGATRON during the early days of the Great War, SHOCKWAVE believed MEGATRON would quickly crush the High Council and bring about a new order to CYBERTRON. AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS everywhere fear SHOCKWAVE for his unethical experimentations. SHOCKWAVE believes that through his work, he will discover a better form of existence for CYBERTRONIANS everywhere and sacrifices must be made to accomplish this. To further his goal of reformatting the species, SHOCKWAVE stayed behind to lead the DECEPTICON forces on CYBERTRON during the Great Exodus. On the surface, SHOCKWAVE is unquestionably loyal to MEGATRON, however this only masks his true intentions of ruling all over all sentient beings in the universe.
"Wait, what is this? Why am I here?"
Once a member of the evil CONSTRUCTICONS, AUTOBOT ERECTOR was scrapped from the team in favor of the DECEPTICON HOOK, because he wasn’t green. Dejected, AUTOBOT ERECTOR had no choice but to join the AUTOBOTS and did so at the battle of Tyger Pax. There he saved the day by distracting enemy fire with his body allowing for OPTIMUS PRIME and the AUTOBOTS to escape the battlefield. AUTOBOT ERECTOR is a true creative genius and now hailed as the top construction engineer for the AUTOBOTS, having designed such marvels as the Armada Laserbeak Surveillance System and the Real Gear Quick Action Weaponry. AUTOBOT ERECTOR is favored by many AUTOBOTS for representing a lost generation of TRANSFORMERS who prove you don’t need to famous to loved by all.
"WASPINATOR suffered for your enjoyment."
"WASPINATOR is one of the most durable TRANSFORMERS of all time. Despite getting blown up all the time, WASPINATOR was able to endure this constant torment and pull himself together long enough to make it to the restoration chambers. Part of the original PREDACON crew which stole the Golden Disc from the Hall of Records, WASPINATOR was marooned on prehistoric Earth where he battled in the BEAST WARS. Before reformatting into a beast, WASPINATOR was known by the designation of WASP.
"Vote for me or you’ll be sorry. I’m a bad cat who likes to party."
AUTOBOT JAZZ embodies the essence of what it means to be an AUTOBOT. Loyal, brave and cunning, have allowed AUTOBOT JAZZ to rise to become one of OPTIMUS PRIME's top lieutenants in the war against the DECEPTICONS. Having joined OPTIMUS PRIME on the Ark during the Great Exodus from CYBERTRON, AUTOBOT JAZZ’s upbeat attitude has always been a source of inspiration to his fellow AUTOBOTS. An admirer of Earth culture, AUTOBOT JAZZ effortlessly incorporates the popular local vernacular into his dialect. AUTOBOT JAZZ has even built his obsession with music into his weapons systems with his deployable speaker blasters capable of firing up to one hundred sonic booms per second.

Recently, NASA sponsored a video contest for US students grades three through eight to promote "spinoff" technologies and announced the winners in a press release today.
NASA Announces Winners Of OPTIMUS PRIME Spinoff Video Contest
WASHINGTON -- NASA has announced the winners of the 2010 NASA OPTIMUS PRIME Spinoff Award. The contest encouraged students to produce short, creative videos about their favorite technology from NASA's Spinoff 2009 Publication.
NASA collaborated with Hasbro using the correlation between the popular TRANSFORMERS brand, featuring its leader OPTIMUS PRIME, and spinoffs from NASA technologies created for aeronautics and space missions used here on Earth. The goal was to help students understand how NASA technology 'transforms' into things used daily.
Student submissions were split into two age categories, third through fifth grades and sixth through eighth grades. The videos were posted on YouTube, and members of the public voted for their favorites. A panel of NASA judges reviewed the top five videos in each age category and selected two winners.
The winning video for third through fifth grades was based on the 2009 Spinoff story originating from NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. "Fabrics Protect Sensitive Skin from UV Rays." It is about how NASA technology used in clothing is helping to protect the wearer's skin against exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays.
The winner for sixth through eighth grades was based on the 2009 Spinoff story originating from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. "Star-Mapping Tools Enable Tracking of Endangered Animals." It is about how a star-mapping algorithm used on the Hubble Space Telescope is helping scientists track endangered animals.
"We are so proud and impressed with the job the students did on their videos," said Nona Cheeks, head of Goddard's Innovative Partnerships Program Office. "Based on the students' creativity in developing cool, comprehensive videos demonstrating their understanding of how NASA technology gets used for many purposes, I am very excited by the potential for future contests."
NASA will recognize the winning videos during a special awards ceremony with Peter Cullen, the voice of OPTIMUS PRIME, at the National Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, Colo., on April 12. The winners will receive the NASA OPTIMUS PRIME trophy during the ceremony.
NASA plans to have the contest again this year, expanding the pool of contestants to ninth through 12th graders with videos about technologies from 2010. Details will be available in May. For more information about the contest and to see the winning videos, visit:
Creative Exec Michael Vogel Promoted to VP to Oversee Development for Boys, Action, Girls and Preschool Programming; SVP Linda Steiner to Oversee Current Programming
Los Angeles, CA, March 2, 2011 – Hasbro Studios, the Los Angeles-based production and distribution division of Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), has split its boys/action and girls/preschool creative teams into separate series development and current programming groups to meet increased production output. The former heads of both units, which have been in place since the studio’s inception in 2009, have taken on new roles leading the revamped teams, Hasbro Studios President Stephen Davis announced today.
Davis has promoted Mike Vogel from executive director, boys and action programming, to vice president, development. Vogel will be charged with reimagining all boys, action, girls and pre-school creative efforts by the studio.
Linda Steiner, who had served as senior VP, girls and preschool programming, has taken on a new role as senior VP, current programming, managing a growing number of successful studio-produced series once they are on the air.
Additionally, Vice President of Production Kathy Page will lead an expanded team to support the restructured departments with production and post-production services, while continuing to assist in oversight of outside production service relationships.
“With the rapid growth of Hasbro Studios and the increasing number of shows we have on The Hub, as well as airing in international markets, I am making these changes to both streamline the creative process and make our organization operate more efficiently,” Davis said. “Michael, Linda and Kathy have all done outstanding jobs in their respective roles and now, with this restructuring, we will be able to create a more cohesive organization.”
Vogel, who has shepherded Transformers Prime, G.I. Joe Renegades and other well-known Hasbro brands from inception to success on The Hub, previously served as director of animated programming at Sony Pictures Entertainment, overseeing development and current programming for television animation. Vogel had worked on numerous animated series, including the Emmy nominated Jackie Chan Adventures, Stan Lee’s The Spectacular Spiderman for Kid’s WB, the Peabody Award-winning The Boondocks, as well as Sit Down Shut Up.
Steiner joined Hasbro Studios in her previous role in 2009 from Warner Bros. Animation, where she was senior vice president of creative affairs. At Warner Bros., she was responsible for overseeing development and production of some of the most high-profile and highly rated animation programming on television, including The Batman, for which she won an Emmy Award; Legion of Super Heroes and Teen Titans. She joined Warner Bros. in 1998 as vice president, development. Previously, she held senior positions at ABC Entertainment in the network’s children’s entertainment division.
About Hasbro Studios: Hasbro Studios is the Los Angeles-based production division of Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS).
