Immersive Children’s Apps Based on Hasbro’s Iconic TRANSFORMERS PRIME, TONKA CHUCK AND FRIENDS and MY LITTLE PONY Brands Due to Arrive on Apple and Android Platforms in 2011

PAWTUCKET, R.I. & NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hasbro, Inc. The first three children’s storybook apps – TONKA CHUCK AND FRIENDS, MY LITTLE PONY and TRANSFORMERS PRIME – are slated to begin roll out in May 2011 and will deliver immersive reading experiences with interactive storytelling including title specific activities, coloring and read-and-record functions.

“With this agreement, we’ve significantly expanded the number of choices in Hasbro’s digital library. Now kids and parents can enjoy Hasbro-branded children’s storybook apps anytime, anywhere.”

“We look forward to teaming with Ruckus to jointly create innovative, content-rich children’s storybook apps based on some of our most popular properties, a core strategy in the extension of Hasbro’s branded play experiences to platforms that resonate with today’s global consumer,” said Simon Waters, Senior Vice President of Global Brand Licensing and Publishing at Hasbro. “With this agreement, we’ve significantly expanded the number of choices in Hasbro’s digital library. Now kids and parents can enjoy Hasbro-branded children’s storybook apps anytime, anywhere.”

Ruckus Mobile Media is joining creative forces with the global branded play company to develop Hasbro-inspired children’s storybook apps with both parent and child in mind, providing shared reading experiences and exciting stories for independent readers. The innovative apps will be built organically for mobile devices, weaving original storylines into overarching series themes and incorporating the latest in touch-screen technology to keep content fresh for young, savvy users who are rapidly becoming more adept at consuming digital media.

“We are tremendously excited about this deal and the fact that we’ll be bringing our creative expertise into developing applications for some of Hasbro’s most popular brands,” said Rick Richter, Ruckus Mobile Media’s President and CEO. “Ruckus is committed to delivering the highest quality family mobile entertainment applications and we’re thrilled to be working with one of the world’s most trusted children’s entertainment leaders.”

Ruckus Mobile Media has been granted worldwide rights in English speaking markets and is scheduled to release the Hasbro children’s storybook apps across a variety of popular mobile platforms, including Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android, beginning with TONKA CHUCK AND FRIENDS in May 2011, followed by TRANSFORMERS PRIME and MY LITTLE PONY.

Just after finding out the Transformers: Exiles release date of September 27th from author Alex Irvine's tweets, we now find out a small tease from Amazon.com's listing of the book, given in the product description.

Warning! It's not too spoiler-y, but you may not want to read it, if you want full surprise and awe when you read the novel for yourself.

" The epic battles between Optimus Prime and Megatron have long thrilled Transformers fans. But these two giants weren’t always great leaders and bitter foes. This new novel continues the electrifying saga that started with Transformers: Exodus, unveiling the origins of the conflict—the explosive events that unfolded before Optimus and Megatron arrived Earthside, forever altering the destiny of their kind.

Once allies, Optimus and Megatron are now enemies in a civil war. To prevent Cybertron from falling into Megatron’s hands, Optimus jettisons the planet’s heart, the AllSpark, into space, then sets out to find it with Megatron hot on his heels. Optimus is determined to defeat Megatron, bring the AllSpark home, and restore Cybertron to its former glory.

But a saboteur lurks aboard Optimus’s spaceship, and ahead lie lost colonies, some of them hostile. Optimus needs help of the highest caliber, but from whom? Heroes such as Solus, Nexus, and Vector Prime are just names from make-believe stories of long ago. Or are they? Maybe it’s time for Optimus Prime to find out. Maybe it’s the only chance he has to vanquish mighty Megatron."

Look for it in stores on September 27th!
