We published an article the other day to set up expectations for the upcoming Transformers Rise of the Beasts film which simply meant to show that the ongoing debate of this series being rebooted or not was irrelevant IF it didn't change what many fans often begrudged the Live Action Transformers movies for. One week has passed and the article feels almost prescient since the trailer did indeed reveal that the film was not a clear cut reboot, with several visual call backs to the Bay films. And an article/interview from BET revealed more details about the human component which the trailer did not show much of.
So we have familiar live action visuals, some focus on the humans, but a Bay-style live action Transformers film would not be the same without a random MacGuffin. And guess what, we now have news of such a thing. On Battletrap's Studio Series toy bio, we learn that the two human characters will have an encounter with this villain when it hunts for the Transwarp Key.
Battletrap fires a barrage of blasts at Noah and Elena to secure the Transwarp Key.
Now will that be the main MacGuffin? What does the Transwarp key open? We don't know, but this gives you an idea of what the film entails since the teaser trailer gave us nothing plot related, which is typical of teasers.
The collectible retailer site Zavvi had a banner image up which has since been taken down, promoting the new Transformers toys for Rise of the Beasts. On it we see Battletrap and Bumblebee figures. This is our first look at the new Bumblebee toy and while it seems to have a similar level of detail to previous Studio Series toys, there are two lines with movie deluxes coming out at a similar time, so it's not confirmed in which line he will be released. While we see Bumblebee in his robot mode, we can tell that his alt mode is the off road Camaro which he becomes later in the film.
There are a few newsworthy bits to take from this single picture. Firstly, the head sculpt features parts not seen on Bumblebee's head in the trailer, which include his antennas and side vents. So that means that either he had not finished transforming in the trailer, or that this face sculpt is based on an older character model.
Also, these being official renders means that their announcement is soon. Or at least, one would hope since we had renders of a new Hatchet and Hound figure for months and they are still not revealed. So we'll see.
Let us know what you think of this new toy and if you'd add it to your collection!
We thank Nemesis Primal for letting us know that, Sonic Bomber, the individual with the early copies of the RotB Airazors and Battletrap posted pics of what appears to be Legacy medix. It is a redeco of Legacy Crankcase with the head of Velocitron Burnout with a deco based on the Botcon custom Class Medix figure which was in turn based on a toy in the Rescue Bots line called Medix. That particular Medix toy was never a character on the original Rescue Bots show but the show Rescue Bots Academy did have a bot called Medix which sported a different deco (more based on Ratchet, who is his uncle in the show).
We thank JTPrime17 for finding more listings for us. What's interesting about these is that their assortment codes and Legacy subheading show us that these are toys planned for 2024 (we already know all mainline Legacy toys coming out in 2023). It's only leaders and voyagers for now, but that's a record for the earliest we know of releases. Here they are:

That's a big mix of G1, BW, UT, Prime and Animated. We also have a listing for G2 Grimlock (redeco of Studio Series 86 Grimlock) which is the leader for a upcoming capsule. Those are exclusive sublines, like the velocitron line. It's unknown if this will be for a subline found at Target, Walmart or Amazon.

Rumour has it there was a Transformers game in development called Transformers Rise and that this game was cancelled. According to the YouTube video below, the cutscenes presented are from thus cancelled game. They feature new designs for G1 characters and there were toys planned to accompany this game as well. Of course, it could be that these cutscenes are for another game that has yet to be announced. Either way, enjoy these 2 cutscenes from an unreleased Transformers Game.
We have a new post on Instagram from Evan, the Hasbro designer who presented the core class Dinos on friday. Firstly, it is funny how Hasbro clearly reads comments since they are all well aware that most of the excitement came from the reveals of Tarn and Lio Prime (even despite the lion face). There are 2 really cool pieces of info here that made me want to share this with you quickly. Firstly, Volcanicus will combine using 5 mm ports. That means that you can already combine him with other recent Generations toys, as shown in the images he shares.
Secondly, and most importantly, he states the following in terms of choosing 6 core class bots rather than 4 core limbs and 1 deluxe bot as the body:
Ultimately, we went with 6 core class bots and perhaps we’ll get some sort of future purposes out of these molds.
While Dinoking is not mentioned explicitly, this is undoubtedly what is being referred to since Dinoking is a small Dinosaur themed combiner from the G1 era which also had 6 equally sized bots combining together. And, while Volcanicus has Grimlock's T-rex as the centre piece, it is Slug's Triceratops head here, which more closely matches Dinoking's appearance in the Japanese show. Also, Hasbro is NOTORIOUS for "stay tuned" or "we'll see" nothing responses, so actually hinting at something on Social media, in an unpromted fashion, means there is something in play. Another big tell that Dinoking is coming is that the rumour for Skar's alt mode (we already know he's the 6th Dynobot) is it's an anklylosaurus. And that is the 6th dino shell used in the original toy (all other shells correspond to alt modes the other 5 Dinobots have, you can see an image below).
Now, here is the full statement from Instagram along with images of the post and extra images showing you Dinoking.
I hope you enjoyed our Pulse Con show and saw some things you can wait to get on your shelves. (Tarn and Lio Prime, right!?)
I wanted to show off the core class dinobots that we will be releasing throughout 2023.
I wanted to try and make a core class combiner since it’s been several years since we last did and thats a feature that I’ve always loved. I think that was the legends scale Abominus for Beast hunters!? Or the retooled version we did for Infernocus…feel free to correct me in the comments. Many robots merging to make a bigger robot is just the best and we have so many in our history that need updates. I guess this was something of an experiment?
When Shu san and I started to work on this, we also were having conversations with Hasui san on how best to implement it. We had talked about one of the bots being DLX class to be the main body while all the limbs are Core. Perhaps this is something we’ll look at doing in the future for other combiners at this scale if you all enjoy these bots. Ultimately, we went with 6 core class bots and perhaps we’ll get some sort of future purposes out of these molds.
Having 2 bots form the chest also gives it some nice dimension.
But anyway, here we have Slug and Sludge who form the torso of Volcanicus! They combine using 5mm ports so you can use all our other weaponizers, fossilizers, modulators and even the new Junkions to build with them!
From the pictures you’ll notice that we had to fuse their arms, removing their elbows for structural support for the combined mode but a few of the other dinobots will have elbows.
Obviously Sludge as well has a bit of Combiner kibble for his thighs but remember: “Thick bots do squats!” And he’s gonna deadlift this Gestalt with those thunderous thighs.
Thanks again for tuning in and we’ll try to post more to answer any questions you may have.
I will start off by saying that this is strictly speculation/educated guessing but we wanted to keep you in the loop in case you want to be as informed as possible about upcoming toys. We know we are getting a voyager Bludgeon toy in the Legacy Evolution line. And yesterday, the designer who worked on Tarn made a post regarding the Tarn figure where they stated that they had chosen to work closely with the comics team.
Here is what Mark maher wrote yesterday:
All hail Takara Tomy’s Yuya Onishi san! He has knocked this IDW’s comic appearance design originally drawn by Alex Milne straight out of the park! One of my mega priorities when I finally got into designing for the Generations segment of Transformers was to have biweekly meetings with our publishing team and our IDW partners. There’s one thing I love just as much as toys, its comics!
And last year, Alex Milne, the same comic artist that first designed Tarn, also shared his design for a Bludgeon, which as you will see has a very similar alt mode. So, we are simply putting two and two together here. Of course, Bludgeon could still be anything but you can't deny how big of a coincidence this is. And the timing lines up with having Bludgeon be at the design stage in 2021 and released in 2023 as a remold of Tarn, both by the same designer who we know already has a toy being made based off of one of his designs.
The recent news of Hasbro reissuing leader class DOTM Optimus Prime (which can still be preordered here) proves that Hasbro is aware of which reissues may be needed from fans. This specific toy was even brought up by Ben Yee during a round table discussion with Hasbro months ago. And now we have even more good news regarding hard to find Studio Series toys.
Fellow Seibertronian JT Prime posted that there are shipping manifests currently stating that Studio Series 38 Bumblebee Movie Optimus Prime is in US ports. So this means that this toy is also getting a reissue. Studio Series Movie 1 Megatron is also said to be in ports. With ports being backed up, there is no specific time known for when these will hit stores.
All these toys sold very well previously and those who didn't get them are paying premiums on the aftermarket (even that Megatron will now cost you over $50 + shipping) so it's nice to see they are getting reissued. We hope this is good news for you!
An online seller selling unreleased and even unrevealed toys currently has all the 15th Anniversary Autobot 5-pack for sale. BUT they also have a Megatron figure for sale, labelled as "Megatron pack 5" which is the same designation they give the figures from the Autobot 5-pack. Now this is not a guarantee that we are getting a Decepticon 5-pack, since this site is not reliable in the name of the toy and there are no other Decepticons listed. But it is a first sign that we may be getting a 5-pack, hence why we are sharing this with you. There is no picture of the actual Megatron toy, just a stock image of a previous release. The idea of a Decepticon 5-pack is interesting though since unlike with the Autobots, it isn't certain what this 5-pack would entail as there were more than 5 prominent Decepticons in the film.
We know Hasbro loves its redecos, and the fans love them too. Perceptor has 1 very obvious redeco that serves two purpose. A black redeco serves as a callback to the original Microman version, known as Magnificus, as well as the Shattered Glass version. We have a listing of Shattered Glass Perceptor on Shopee right now. The image they use is the one in the thumbnail and this is our first sign of this redeco coming out. While it was practically inevitable, the fact that it is available to order here means it is on the way and done production.
Below is an image of the E-Hobby rerelease of the Microman toy within the Transformers brand.
