First Images Transformers Cyberverse Ultra Class Sludge

Hasbro finally revealed some ne Cyberverse toys the other day but there was an important part of the Dinobots Unite subline that was missing, the dinobots. Well, now we have Sludge to show you. He is an ultra class bot which means a slightly simplified toy with an action gimmick that is voyager sized and made with durability in mind for a younger audience. All standard limitations aside, he looks like a nice rendition of G1 Sludge, a dinobot which rarely gets much love, and a fun way to introduce him to kids. The gimmick on this toy is similar to previous ultra class figures where energon armour will pop out. For Sluge, it gives him a dino head in robot mode.
The images were found on the Walmart app by the fansite TFW2005.

Greetings Seibertronians! Thanks to the efforts of fellow Seibertron user, Mindmaster, we may have our first look at the Transformers Kingdom Deluxe Class version of Waspinator!





The pictures were shared on Twitter by user @QueenStodge.

If this is indeed the upcoming Deluxe Class figure, then this will be the third go over for Waspinator since his original Beast Wars figure, 25 years ago. He did recieve a figure back in the Thrilling 30 line. Aside from them (which were based on Beast Wars) the character appeared as a Deluxe toy in the Animated toyline.

Premium Finish SS-02 Optimus Prime and WFC-02 Megatron Land on Takara Tomy Mall

Takara Tomy Mall officially revealed the next two figures to get the Premium Finish treatment and interest in these will definitely vary. First up is PF SS-02 Optimus Prime based on his likeness from the Bumblebee movie. Paint details are much improved over both the original Voyager and the Takara Tomy exclusive 35th anniversary repaint, now featuring more accurate reds, ample amounts of silver paint (including the stacks this time around), more paint on sculpted details and extra scuffs and grime throughout the entire figure. It's a tempting upgrade over the original Voyager. He's due out in November for ¥6,380.

A little less exciting is PF WFC-02 Megatron. This is by no means a rerelease of the Netflix based figure, but it is another Netflix battle damaged figure which we've already seen twice-over in that line. It does do a better job with the battle damage, giving it a little more depth and realism rather than being a bright silver figure with some black marks on its chest. It'll be a hard sell for many people when he too is released in November for ¥6,380.

































Keep in mind that Takara Tomy Mall is once again desaturating their Seekers for these photos, that's just a standard Studio Series Starscream above.

MPM-12 Bumblebee Movie Optimus Prime Video Review

MPM Optimus Prime is just around the corner. Seibertron user MadProject pointed us out that Prime VS Prime made a video review of this soon to be widely in store Masterpiece. The rather controversial truck mode that is heavily sacrificed for the bot mode and a simpler transformation is shown is all it's "cat ears" and "legs on the back" glory. Then on to a surprisingly simple transformation that is no harder than the voyager to transform and we finish with a pretty solid bot mode.

IDW Transformers Annual 2021 Review

Editor's Note: Yes, as you saw in the title above this review is not authored by who its news posting says, but instead by guest reviewer Mr. Micromaster. With that out of the way, let's let him get to it. Thanks, Mr. Micromaster!

Overall, this book is an incredibly fun read with excellent art. If you have not been enjoying the current ongoing series you may want to pick up Transformers Annual 2021 because it has some of Brian Ruckley’s best overall writing in the series so far. Alex Milne as always delivers with the art.



Speaking of Milne’s art, lets talk about it first because it's just superb as per usual. The action scenes feel dynamic and well done. You can really feel the emotion on the characters faces especially, Lightbright's. John-Paul Bove’s excellent coloring helps Milne’s art feel different than his work in the previous IDW Transformers continuity. The lettering by Jake Wood is pretty good overall. One minor gripe with the lettering is that after Airachnid's introduction, most of a panel showing her new design is taken up by speech bubbles that maybe could have been moved around to show more of the art.



Ruckley’s writing is on point for this issue. The character moments are excellent this issue and everyone gets their chance to shine. Scattershot has a particularly epic moment where Thunderwing tries to intimidate him and Scattershot just is not having any of it. There are many other well written character interactions, including one where Lightspeed and Lightbright have a great moment together about what it is like to be a City Speaker. Another fun example is the interaction between the Technobots and Bludgeon which I found quite humorous. There is also an implied history between them. Probably one of the most interesting interactions is between Lightbright and her titan Lodestar, you can really feel that they have a deep connection.

The conversation between Lodestar and Vigilem is rather interesting. The two are starkly different, Lodestar is content with the present where as Vigilem longs for the glories of the past. In this respect Vigilem and Thunderwing are quite alike. In the past Thunderwing was a mighty figure during the expansionist days of Cybertron but now he is relegated to the backwater that is Hexagon. He is also someone who loves to hear the sound of his own voice, as Strafe puts it. Airachnid is a nice inclusion and even though she is on the cover I forgot about her, so her appearance came as a nice surprise to me. Here she is cast as a mad scientist which is an interesting take on the character.



The story is overall very engaging and kept me invested throughout. I never once checked my phone or opened another tab while I was reading. The emotional core of the book is Lightbright and Lodestar. We see their bond and how they're hesitant to hunt down and potentially kill another Titan. The ending is quite the gut punch, as while our heroes escape the clutches of Thunderwing and his cohorts, they do not escape tragedy.


This annual is all around excellent. The writing, the art and the coloring are all top tier. That is not to say it is perfect. The fight between Lodestar and Vigilem should have gotten a bit more page real estate to truly invoke the sense of Lodestar's struggle to defeat Vigilem. The characters and concepts introduced in this issue were very fun to read about, but in an issue that feels like a side-story, without follow-up it ultimately will not matter, so here is hoping we pick back up on the threads introduced in the near future.

While we had seen some of these official images before, we now have a whole bunch of them form Hasbro now that they are officially revealing the next phase of the Transformers Cyberverse line, the Dinobots Unite subline. The two figures revealed in this subline are Roll N’ Change Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. They will both be released at the end of summer in brick and mortar locations and are at the $50 USD price point. So basically big Transformers toys to be on shelves for the fall and holiday season.

Emgo316 has posted a video review of the highly anticipated Kingdom Commander Class Rodimus Prime. Complete with his packaging, card, and ALL the accessories, including the smoke effects for the smokestacks, accessories that were missing from the Prime VS Prime review. He also shows more functions of the toys.

Another interesting fact is that Emgo was able to do this review because a friend from Australia sent it to him because they began appearing in his area. In which store Rodimus appeared in Australia? That was not said. But our fellow Australian Seibertronians should keep an eye out when Transformers hunting.

Transformer RED Series Wave 3 Found at Walmart Canada

We have news that Transformers RED Series wave 3 has been found at Canadian retail. TF Fan Team jetfire found them at a Walmart in Alberta. They were priced just shy of $30 CAD. The new toys in this wave are Coronation Starscream and G1 Bumblebee.

Hasbro is really odd sometimes. We knew T-Wrecks was coming (the straight redeco of Kingdom Beast Megatron) and they knew we knew. And yet, we didn't get any kind of official reveal. Well, too late now. It has since been found in Australia and is now revealed as a Toyworld exclusive in Oceania. We have our first official listing with stock images. This is a Target exclusive in the US and a probable Toysrus exclusive in Canada.

Every month now, Seibertron.com brings you a Top 5 list related to all things Transformers written by me, your fellow editor or a guest. These are our opinions (just like movie or game reviews hosted by sites are still just the opinion of one person) so what matters most is what you guys think of the topic or list, and I hope to see your own lists or comments on omissions and ranking. Let's have fun! All previous lists can be found here.


Top 5 Same-Sex Transformers Couples

Happy Pride month, everybody! My name is Tigerhawk7109. I’ve been on the forums for about two years now. And, this week, I’ll be bringing you a special Pride-themed list. Before we begin, though, let me set one major rule: canon pairings only. As much as I stan ships like AlphaRoad, they’re not official. Also, major spoiler warning for More Than Meets the Eye and Lost Light ahead. And please remember that the use of the term "same-sex" is in the generalized sense where sex is used to refer to gender quite often. Now, without further ado, let’s get into it!

5: Knock Out and Breakdown

Knock Out, the slick Decepticon medic, was far and away the breakout character of Transformers: Prime. He was suave, he was extremely vain, and he gave Autobots like Bumblebee and Arcee a real challenge on the roads. His partner-in-crime was Breakdown, a heavy bruiser who filled the role of Bulkhead’s archnemesis. From their interactions in the show, many fans suspected that the two might have been a couple. As fun as it might’ve been, there was no official confirmation- until IDW stepped in and put their own spin on things.

When Knock Out was introduced in Windblade: Volume 2 number 4, he retains everything from his Prime persona except the sadistic streak. He’s a high-ranking racer on Velocitron, but nothing’s really been said that’s new. However, when Moonracer and Windblade have their conversation at Maccadam’s, the Velocitronian alludes to Knock Out having a Conjunx Endura who ‘couldn’t break Mach 1 if his life depended on it.’ Breakdown, with his bulky build, certainly fits this description. In the Holiday Special, we finally get confirmation that the two are a couple.

Because they had less time for their relationship to develop than any of the others on this list, Knock Out and Breakdown are lower in the ranking- but that doesn’t mean that they’re any less precious.




4: Drift and Ratchet

Suffice to say, this is a relationship that not many saw coming. Drift and Ratchet are polar opposites- one is an ex-Decepticon trying to find his place in the world, and the other is a grouchy old medic who’s losing his touch. But, if you look closely, you can see how their relationship developed over the course of More Than Meets The Eye and Drift: Empire of Stone. When Drift is knocked down by a brick after taking the blame for Overlord, Ratchet is the only member of the ship’s crew who helps him up. In issue 28, when Atomizer hands Rodimus a list of those who supposedly didn’t vote for him, Ratchet reveals that it’s a fake- because his name isn’t on it. There are a number of reasons why this could be, but we’re led to believe it’s because of Drift. The turning point in their relationship comes when Ratchet attends Brainstorm’s trial. After the scientist gets away with a slap on the wrist, Ratchet finally snaps at Rodimus for letting Drift take the fall. He leaves the Lost Light in a shuttle, with a figurine of Drift made by Ten on his dashboard. By Lost Light, the two are officially a couple. Their relationship’s buildup was absolutely genius, and is one of many examples as to why James Roberts is a fricking genius.




3: Anode and Lug

Anode and Lug were the first major newbies introduced in Transformers: Lost Light, the sequel to More Than Meets the Eye. They are a couple when we first meet them, but we also meet them when they have a pretty major argument. Anode eventually realizes that the Lug she is seeing isn’t real- she’s a mere hallucination, brought upon after being saved by the Necrobot. Using a protoform and a spark, Anode is able to essentially bring Lug back to life. Now that’s dedication.

However, that’s not the only reason that Anode and Lug are special. The two are the first official transgender couple in Transformers, and have a whole page dedicated to Anode explaining why the two of them didn’t feel right as males. This quality, combined with the real and believable nature of their relationship, makes Anode and Lug a truly special couple.




2: Cyclonus and Tailgate

All I can say is this: James Roberts knows how to write a romance, because God damn. These two get off to an extremely rocky start. Poor Tailgate is looking for somebody to room with, and Cyclonus lets him into his quarters- only because there’s a sparkeater on the loose. When the minibot starts to annoy him, Cyclonus knocks Tailgate out cold. Gradually, the two grow closer, bonding over the fact that they are both from Cybertron’s ancient past. At the end of Season 1, Cyclonus uses his own spark energy to cure Tailgate’s cybercrosis. In Season 2, Getaway plays on Cyclonus’ reluctance to show his feelings, and manipulates Tailgate into almost getting killed. Cyclonus protects him, and is shredded by bullets. When Tailgate is presumed dead after Fangry locks him in a radioactive chamber, Cyclonus’ faith and desire to see him again causes Cyberutopia to manifest itself as the Afterspark. These two have so much development, and have so much love between them- except Cyclonus’ pride keeps him from saying the Big Three Words until Lost Light issue 16. Caught in the middle of this romance is Whirl, who slowly pushes the two into revealing their feelings for each other. That comedic plot point alone is just fantastic.




1: Chromedome and Rewind

You all saw this coming. Chromedome and Rewind have the single-most developed relationship in all of Transformers history. They don’t just top a list of same-sex couples- these two would top a list of all couples. From the very first issue, we see them fight and make up, like a real couple. The two are very obviously lovey-dovey with each other. However, it’s not until after Rewind sacrifices himself to get Overlord off the ship that he finally says ‘I love you.’ Heartbroken, Chromedome locks himself in his quarters and plays his husband’s final message, a composition of footage recorded by Rewind himself, over and over again. However, the two get a second chance when Megatron discovers a quantum duplicate Lost Light, with Rewind the only survivor. Seeing as he is the same, yet different, from Chromedome’s Rewind, the two get off to a less-than perfect start. Their love eventually grows back to what it once was- to the point where Chromedome almost kills himself to bring Dominus Ambus, Rewind’s old Conjunx, back from his lobotomized state as ‘The Pet.’ Instead of bringing Dominus back, Rewind severs Chromedome’s arm, keeping him alive at the cost of his former husband. There are no other words to describe just how deep their relationship runs.




Honourable mention: If there was one other couple I need to make mention of, it’s Tigatron and Airazor- specifically from the Japanese dub of Beast Wars. Airazor was male in Japan, which was all well and good for the most part. But when the obvious affection between the two blossomed into romance, they inadvertently became the first gay couple in Transformers history.

New Video Review of Vintage Beast Wars Megatron Reissue

Greetings Seibertronians! Ever since the vintage Beast Wars reissues were revealed, fans have wondered what the finalized deco for Megatron will be, since it has previously varied between different official images. Well, we don't need to wonder any more. YouTube reviewer PrimeVsPrime has released a video review for the upcoming Megatron reissue, and it comes with a few differences from the original figure. Most notably, it uses a slightly darker shade of purple and omits the silver paint from the robot mode helmet. While these changes mean this is not a 100% faithful reissue, they also give this release a slightly more show-accurate deco.

First Look at Transformers Studio Series SS 73 Grindor and Ravage

For some reason, Hasbro chose to only reveal half of the upcoming Studio Series wave, leaving out the Bayverse bots which are in the same wave as the SS 86 toys like Slag and Gnaw. Even to the point of keeping them a mystery on case packs from online vendors like Entertainment Earth. Well, these toys are coming soon, so whether they reveal them or not, we were going to see them. And it's happening now, with Grindor and Ravage. For those who need a recap, Grindor is the helicopter bot that fights Optimus in the forest along with Megatron and Starscream. While he was a different helicopter than Blackout, the helicopter mode is unchanged hear. We do get a different deco and, BEST PART, better articulation for the wrists. That was by far the biggest pet peeve with the previous release of this mold so I am glad it is addressed. And we get Ravage instead of Scorponok. We thank EvasionModeBumblebee for letting us know of these images which are actually form an E-Bay listing. That means you could purchase this toy right now. however, it coming from China, there is a chance they are found locally before receiving this international package.

Kingdom Wave 3 Deluxes Out in Singapore Giving us a Look at the Packaging

Q3 starts next month so it was a matter of time before the wave 3 deluxes were found somewhere. The US was the first country to get the wave 3 leader Galvatron (many US fans now have him) but Singapore now has the wave 3 deluxes. These include Wheeljack, Wingfinger, Tracks and Scorponok. The image from Izaac Ryan which you can see below shows us the packaging. We also have an image that shows us the core class packaging. It isn't certain how much time it will take for these to show up in the west but at least we know Wave 3 is being shipped out.

Transformers Beast Wars #4 Review

While the issue came out last week, we were only able to review it now. Only Spoilers ahead.



I will start by saying that as with the previous issues, I did not find this to be all that good. It was not terrible, but there was very little in it that I found worthwhile to recommend to any Beast Wars or Transformers fan.

I had found this comic series' version of Dinobot's rebellion against the Predacons to be an unwelcome change from the original idea that he is a Predacon that chooses to team with the Maxmimals more out of hatred/rivalry against Megatron and slowly leans into their ideals. Instead, here, he really is just one note. Like to a T, as you can read in the panel below. If you are wondering if there is a lead up to that panel in this comic, not really. It's like it was written by a kid. "I like honour, but my colleagues who are known to be murderous phychos don't seem to have any, maybe you do. So can I join?". This is beyond amateurish. And a formal request no less, my good sir. Is Dinobot a warrior or a senior asking a father if he can take his daughter to prom?



I did like some of the writing. Optimus has a nice moment of characterization here. As I had previously said, I don't mind changes if they make it worth my time. This version of Optimus is different and they have fun with it. I'm here for that. I would of course prefer that he only use his pop up forearm weapons in robot mode since him doing it in beast mode makes my eyes twitch, but that's just me.

After 4 issues, you'd think it would be best to just accept the art, but it is damn hard. There are shots that just highlight how odd the style is. Like this Megatron shot were his legs just go for miles. Plus I really could do without that underbite in the T-Rex head. These stylistic elements just undo any threat or presence he may have. And Nyx's Bat face is just really ugly and jarring as you can see from the picture I posted at the top.



That isn't my biggest problem with the art in this issue though, we get some really messed up scale. A big chunk of the issue is dedicated to a confrontation with a seemingly alien beast (so, are we not on Earth? We'll see) and it's size compared to the bots changes from panel to panel. It seems colossal when fighting Nyx but Dinobot looks even bigger than it in another panel. Yet, while Nyx is small, Dinobot doesn't tower over her like the beast did.





Look, if anyone out there likes this book then I am glad. It means this book found an audience. It just didn't find it with me so far. In the end, it's just average with very little to offer me.
