Inverse had an interesting interview with Adam Wingard, director of Godzilla Vs Kong. In it, the focus is on Mecha Godzilla, as it is the only new Monsterverse design that debuted in the film. A big part of the article is Wingard recalling watching Transformers Dark of the Moon, which serves as an inspiration to him for what not to do. It is in this excerpt below:
Wingard says that when it came to Mechagodzilla, he was more focused on avoiding the mistakes of previous films than on copying some other classic sci-fi robot. The director is talking about one terrible movie in particular: Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
“I remember watching the third Transformers movie in the theater,” Wingard recalls. “It was one of those things where I was with a date, and we got there late, and the only seats that were available were literally in the front row. And so I'm sitting there watching Transformers 3 in the front row, and I couldn't tell what the hell was going on.”
“The Transformers, they just looked like metal. They looked like a plane crash. So I thought, that's the thing I wanted to avoid. They were too complex. There are too many moving parts, and I couldn't latch on to anything. Nothing felt iconic with that Transformers design.”
“The Transformers animated movie from the '80s with Orson Welles was one of the best movie experiences for me as a kid growing up,” Wingard says. “Period.”
Greetings Seibertronians! Following on from the announcement that Angel Manuel Soto was helming a brand new Transformers movie, unconnected to any of the other movies currently being worked on, he dropped in on the Molusco TV Podcast and while there, dropped some information about his upcoming project.
Thanks to the fine folk over at TFW2005, and in particular, the user Black Convoy, we have what he said translated, and he made some interesting comments about his movie:
Mr. Soto stated that the premises of his new Transformers movie will take place outside of United States. The story does not involve the military.
The plot is stated to be completely outside of the Bayverse.
Additionally, the director described the inception of the movie in question. He got the call from Paramount after the 2020 Sundance Film Festival where he showcased Charm City Kings. The Los Angeles production company expressed their interest to make a new and different Transformers project with him. Angel Manuel Soto personally pitched the idea to Paramount & Hasbro. The two companies liked the idea and gave a greenlight.
The Soto Transformers Project is still in an earlier stage than the upcoming DC Blue Beetle movie (also directed by Angel Manuel Soto).
The director is planning to humanize the Transformers characters on his movie (personality-wise and not design-wise). He want the robots to speak like us, in a natural way. That’s the way he remembers Transformers and the reason we felt identified with the original Transformers. He believes that when you humanize the characters, you get closer to them, love them. When there’s a human approach, you create a connection with them. If not, they are just lifeless robots.
Angel Manuel Soto is surprised to see all the reaction of fans about him directing this movie. He doesn’t want to let anybody down. While he can’t speak much details, he says that the budget is over 50 milliion dollars and it’s a challenge to manage it. He really wants to bring as much of the movie as he can to Puerto Rico.
Elsewhere, Mr. Soto stated that he always wanted to make a movie on Transformers; which he enjoyed during his childhood. Growing up, his father struggled to provide for his family but bought him Transformers toys which he loved and cherished.
Are you intrigued about this movie, knowing these tidbits?

Greetings Seibertronians! Thanks to fellow Seibertron user, Rysquad, we've been pointed to a deadline article which reports that the Steven Caple Jr helmed Transformers movie (the follow up to Bumblebee), is in final negotiations to cast Hamilton star, Anthony Ramos as the lead. Anthony also starred in Bradley Coopers hit remake of a Star is Born.
The report also states that Anthony has been firmly in the sights for the role from the moment Caple joined the movie. If everything is finalised, it's expected that he will do co-star chemistry tests when more casting is confirmed.
This movie is expected to be the first of four scripts to be completed, with a date set for next year. It currently has the working title of Beast Alliance.
What do you think of this casting news? Excited to see what Anthony will bring to the table and how he'll interact with the Autobots?

Along with the leader of the dinobots, Gregg also gave Skyfire a voice and did vocal performances in a whole host of other cartoon shows including Argh! Real Monsters and the cartoon adaption of Men in Black, as well as Mysterio in the seminal 90s Spiderman cartoon.

Greetings Seibertronians! Fellow Seibertron user, futurevoiceactor, has dropped us a line to tell us about a special video he's uploaded to YouTube. In this video,he interviews Michael Bell, who Transformers fans will remember as the voices of Prowl and Sideswipe (and more!) in the original G1 Transformers cartoon! Outside of Transformers he's appeared in many other cartoons and video games (such as appearing as Raziel in the Legacy of Kain series).
The interviewer has already conducted interviews with the voice of Grimlock and Skyfire (from the G1 cartoon) and the colourist from IDW'S Regen One, John Paul Bove. Check out their YouTube Channel here

We at Seibertron always aim to bring you the latest and most relevant news on all things Transformers. Occasionally, we do get opportunities to bring you content that's not exclusive to Seibertron, but is very newsworthy, and in this case, we feel is important for all Transformers fans to know. Kevin Lukis, the owner of fellow fan site Unicron.com, was granted an exclusive interview with Hasbro's Ben Montano, who's the Senior Director of Global Brand Marketing. Many thanks to Kevin for bringing this to our attention.
In this interview, Lukis and Montano discuss the biggest (and most expensive) Transformer ever made, the Chaos-Bringer himself, Unicron! They cover all things Unicron, including:
Why the changes to the color of the planet mode's maw was made.
Though he's the biggest Transformer ever made, he was, at one point, going to be even bigger.
He'd actually been planned for the Generations Selects line, which is reflected in his packaging.
When exactly he'll start shipping to U.S. backers.
Issues with distribution outside the U.S.
The unlikely chance of Unicron ever being reissued.
There are many other topics covered in the interview, which you can watch below.
So are you one of the lucky backers that will be getting your figure in the next few weeks? Just curious about what a senior Hasbro figure has to say about him? What did you think of the interview? Let us know below, and sound off in the Energon Pub forums!
(We would again like to thank Kevin Lukis of Unicron.com for the content).
There was a lot of entertainment news related to Transformers in today's investor conference from Hasbro. No less than 5 projects are currently in development and they were all talked about at the 1:30 mark of the conference. We reported on the Botbots TV show on Netflix, the new Animated TV show on nickelodeon and we all know there will be a third part to the War on Cybertron Trilogy show on Netflix called Kingdom.
Along with those 3 shows, Hasbro is currently making 2 feature length films at the same time and here are all the details that were given.
One film will be live action set for release in summer 2022 "with a fresh vision that will launch a new trajectory for the franchise". The director is Steven Caple Jr who directed Creed 2, Lorenzo di Bonaventura will be producing and Steven Spielberg will be one of the executive producers.
The other feature length film will be animated and that one will be directed by Josh Cooley, who directed Toy Story 4.
If you're a fan of Beast Wars, or Transformers Animated, you're going to want to tune in for this event! Voiceover artist David Kaye will be doing an AMA event on Reddit this coming Saturday at 11am Pacific Time, 2pm Eastern Time (US)! AMA, which stands for 'Ask Me Anything' is a feature on Reddit which allows users to ask the organizer any question at all. Since Mr. Kaye voiced the Predacon leader Megatron, and Autobot leader Optimus Prime in Transformers Animated, we're sure Transformers fans will have tons of questions for him.
With 2021 being the 25th Anniversary of Beast Wars and the lack of any conventions in 2020, I thought it would be a great time to jump into the Transformers sub-reddit and do an AMA. This AMA is going to be a bit different though, instead of just interacting with each other on here, I've enlisted the help of the TransMissions Podcast to help me Simulcast this AMA on various other social media platforms. So not only can you follow along here, but you can watch this entire AMA or listen to it also!

Greetings Seibertronians! Following the posting of April 2021 IDW comic solicitations here, freelance artist Josh Perez took to his Twitter Account to give fans an extra treat! The artist posted a clean look at his cover for issue #3 of IDW’S Transformers: Beast Wars ongoing! The cover is the Retailer Incentive, meaning that it is included for every ten copies a comic book store orders in.
The art work shows off all the major characters in the comic so far.
This is what Josh wrote in the tweet accompanying the image:
Josh Perez wrote:My cover for #IDW's #BeastWars issue 3 was shown off in solicitations: /transformers/news/idw-transformers-comics-april-2021-solicitations/45615/
I figured I'd post the cover sans logos and stuff! Was a lot of fun and I really appreciate getting to do another cover for Transformers! (I wanted to wait a little but I got excited)
What do you think of the cover? Are you going to be trying out this series? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!
There's another headline I never though I would write. @Jalaguyon Twitter posted some really cool photos. A comic shop in Pennsylvania has found some vintage G1 Transformers costumes from the 80s in a closed warehouse. These are rather involved costumes of Jazz and Thundercracker worn in commercials for theme parks like Great America and for other promotional purposes in the 80s. The same footage from the Great America commercial was also found in OJ Simpson's Pioneer Chicken commercial. You can see both below along with the images of the uncovered costumes.
Somebody in the @tfwiki Discord has posted photos of the original TF costumes used in several G1 commercials and things!
Apparently acquired from Sunbow Prod.'s inventory, and now found in a closed warehouse by Tales of Adventure, a comic shop in Coopersburg, PA.
Here's the photos that toamichael posted:
